"Let's play a game." Gelsomina curled up in her seat on the private jet. Her eyes were red and swollen.

They were flying to Gelsomina's favorite private island. The engine's roar echoed through the cabin, but Tommaso's thoughts drifted elsewhere.

"What game?" he asked halfheartedly, his fingers tapping unconsciously against the armrest.

"Question and answer!" Gelsomina suddenly perked up. "We'll ask each other questions and see how well we know each other. It's what couples love to play!"

Tommaso frowned but humored her. "Va bene."

"I'll go first!" Gelsomina sat up excitedly. "Do you remember when we first met?"

Tommaso thought for a moment. "You were seven. I was 12. It was Christmas at the orphanage."

"Wrong!" Gelsomina shook her head triumphantly. "It was at the family Christmas banquet."

Tommaso froze. What came to his mind was a different scene. It was me appearing before him for the first time at Marco's funeral.
