Chapter 5

Autor: Round Belly
"You’ve... made me dirty."

Julian looked as if his soul had been sucked out, his hollow eyes fixed on the space ahead.

Being drunk, having his deepest wound exposed, and having me lick his palm seemed to have dealt him three consecutive blows at once. They had completely broken him.

Before I could think of a way to comfort him, I heard him sobbing behind me.

An idea came to me.

I leaned close to Julian’s ear and whispered eerily, “Whitney Hart doesn’t want you anymore.”

He began crying even

“Finally, Stockholm syndrome is a mental illness. Reciting prayers won’t cure it. I suggest you see a therapist.”The rosary beads hit the floor with a sharp clatter. Behind Julian’s calm expression, his entire sense of dignity quietly crumbled. My studio was running smoothly and efficiently.I came up with the livestream content, while Whitney handled the operations. To prove his sincerity, Julian was still relentlessly pestering me.I told him he could come see me if he learned our group dance properly. Then we might let him take the center position.A famous, aloof heartthrob from the city’s elite circles livestreaming from my studio was a guaranteed recipe for going viral. How could I not seize the opportunity? There was nothing shameful about making money. For the next few days, Julian’s private retreat played a DJ remix of “Winter Used to Be Cold, Summer Brought the Rain…” instead of religious chants. He sent us countless videos of himself, but I rejected every one with

“There seemed to be a misunderstanding between us.” I broke the stalemate first. “Julian and I did have an unusual relationship, but nothing happened between us. You can check our messages if you don’t believe me.”I handed my phone to Whitney openly. Our chat history contained nothing but my glorious record of verbally destroying trolls on the toxic gaming server.“I have no idea why he’s so full of himself. I don’t feel anything for him. I think you should understand how I feel, Miss Hart. It’s the same way you felt when you decided to go overseas for further studies a few years ago.“Since you know I’m not interested in Julian, that means we aren’t enemies. If we aren’t enemies, then we’re friends.”A flicker of emotion crossed Whitney’s face.I took advantage of the moment and started pitching my studio to her. “Miss Hart, have you ever watched our boy band’s livestreams?”“No, I haven’t.”I leaned close to Whitney’s ear and whispered like the devil. “Julian isn’t the on

At first, I thought Julian had only said those things to get rid of me. I never expected him to start bringing up Whitney in front of me at every opportunity.“Whitney asked me to have lunch with her today… She wants me to go shopping with her tonight… We’re going to the spa together tomorrow… Shuri! Aren’t you going to react?”“That’s wonderful. Your little step forward is a giant leap for the Hart family.” I was sick of hearing those words come out of Julian’s mouth.I gave it some thought over the past few days. Julian genuinely believed I wanted to compete with Whitney for him. If I continued living here, it would inevitably cause another round of trouble.Julian might have been temperamental, but he was generous with his money. I had built up quite a bit of savings, and it wouldn’t be difficult to start a small company.Ever since Julian decided that I liked him, all my previous actions made perfect sense in his mind. They had simply been attempts to seduce him.“I w

At that moment, I saw the look in Julian’s eyes.He blinked at Whitney so frantically that his eyes practically flashed like hazard lights. Unfortunately, the two of them weren’t close enough to read each other’s minds. Whitney missed the seventy percent pleading and thirty percent fear in his eyes, and my left cheek received the full force of her slap.It smelled wonderful.Whitney wore Chanel 1957, and the breeze from her slap carried the scent of white musk and orange blossom.I covered my cheek and lowered my head, quietly savoring the fragrance. When Whitney saw that I said nothing, she assumed I too guilty and ashamed to speak. She took my silence as a sign that she had won and sneered down at me. “Are you scared now? If you are, then get the hell away from Julian!”Julian, standing nearby, grew frantic when Whitney failed to understand his hint and grabbed her by the hem of her dress.Whitney scowled. “Julian, what are you doing? Are you taking her side?” As she s

Is this Julian?”The way Julian froze and even forgot to cry told me that the caller had to be his first love. When Julian remained silent for a long time, Whitney continued, “I’m coming back tomorrow. Julian, I’ve missed you so much. Do you hate me now? “Can’t you say something

Julian remained noncommittal.“So give me the computer, and I’ll play esports. I’m terrible at the game, so my teammates will tear me apart. Watching me get ridiculed counts as humiliation too, right? “From now on, you won’t be the only one humiliating me. Thousands of people will be on your side!”I delivered my speech with great passion. One look at Julian’s expression told me that he had fallen for it.I got the computer I had been dreaming of. In exchange, I had to send Julian screenshots of my teammates insulting me every day.Perfect. This was the best life imaginable. What bliss!…Perhaps I had completely merged with this body, because I no longer felt any of the female lead’s resistance toward this place. That was because this place was basically heaven! Who wouldn’t want to live here? I was even afraid Julian’s first love would come back and try to take the place from me.Life in the basement was wonderfully comfortable. There was only one thing I regretted.I
