LATER THAT SAME NIGHT

Melissa is lying in bed “Melissa? You still awake?” Brock asked quietly 

“Yeah. I’ve not been able to sleep. My brain is awake. And I can’t shut it off.” Melissa said while sniffling. 

She felt Brock move on the bed. The dimly lit lamp he had turned on shone in the dark. Turning to face Melissa. “Oh honey.” Brock said when he saw her tear stained face. He hugged her tightly. 

“Why Brock? Who would do this to me? To my business?” Melissa cried. She didn’t care if Brock saw her feeling vulnerable. “Do you think this is the same person who killed my dog? The security files are an issue but that can be fixed. I feel violated by the fact someone took my underwear. They’d taken something that goes onto my body, the most sacred part of it and took them.”
