Chapter 37

Lately, the days feel like the only thing I have been doing is driving and pulling up at new locations. The drive to the location Mike had sent earlier along with a just trust me text was too smooth, a designated area actually.

It could be a trap, who knows. I might be walking directly into a place where I will be bundled and taken away. Mike might just be bait. But if it’s for my brother I will do anything.

The building doesn’t look like anything special. Just four floors of concrete and glass. The type of place you would pass without thinking twice.

I park from across the street because that was the instruction. When I cross over I see a guy on shades watching me from a distance, his arms folded.

I run a hand through my hair and match the address with my location and it’s correct.

When I get to the door, there is a petite woman by the standing there holding a clipboard. And before I can even introduce myself she calls out my name like she has been waiting for me.

    Rebecca’s POV It’s tommorow already, I am so tensed I leave the house before six. I am putting on a hoody sweater and joggers, the hood over my head. The sky is a bright red, and outside is a bit chilly. Thankful for what I had on, but it doesn’t shield me from the tightness in my chest. The walk to the park feels longer than it normally is. I pass a young girl who waves at me beaming with smiles. A man walking a dog with a tired kind of movement, all the while trying to steady my mind, a million thoughts racing through.
