Chapter 392

Author: Maureen Green
"Sounds good." Aren smiled and picked up a tiger-shaped balloon. "Let's get this one too."

They paid and left the shop with their balloons.

"Pen, let's go release the balloons and make a wish," Aren suggested, seeing people gathered by the riverside releasing their balloons.

"Great idea," Aspen readily agreed.

They came to an open area in Old City where many people were already releasing balloons into the sky. Aren took a paper out and handed it to Aspen.

"Here, Pen, write down your wish," Aren said.

Aspen took the paper, wrote something down, and tied it to the balloon. Then, together with Aren, she released the balloons into the air.

Watching the balloon slowly ascend, a happy smile appeared on Aspen's face. "Aren, thank you."

Aspen turned to look at Aren gratefully as she added, "Thank you for bringing me here, and thank you for everything you've done for me."

"Silly, don't be so formal with me." Aren affectionately ruffled Aspen's hair. "I'm happy as long as you're happy."

"Enough!" Colin completely lost his patience and shouted, "My personal matters are none of your business! Go home!"With that, Colin turned and left, leaving Ellie standing alone in place. Watching Colin's resolute retreating figure, Ellie's tears flowed even harder. She clutched her chest, feeling waves of heart-wrenching pain. She couldn't understand why her son had become like this and why he would treat his own mother this way for an outsider.Colin returned to the villa, where Gwyneth stood at the door, looking at him with concern. "Colin, you're back."Gwyneth's voice was soft and gentle, like a spring breeze attempting to soothe Colin's frustration. "What about Madam Ellie? Has she left?"Colin didn't speak. He silently walked into the living room, sat on the couch, and lit a cigarette. Gwyneth then moved to Colin's side, gently embraced him, and rested her head on his shoulder."Colin, I'm sorry. It's all my fault for making Madam Ellie angry." Gwyneth's voice carried a h

"Respect your choice? Look at yourself now—do you have any resemblance to a Fuller family member?" Ellie trembled with anger."You've neglected the company for this woman. What more do you want?""I'll handle the company matters. You don't need to worry." Colin's tone hardened. "This is my personal life. Can't you stop interfering?""Fine, fine, fine!" Ellie repeated the word three times."Colin, you've grown up, you're independent now, and I can't control you anymore, is that it? Fine, I'll leave. I won't interfere with you anymore!"With that, Ellie turned to leave. Colin tried to stop her, but Gwyneth held him back."Colin, it's all my fault," Gwyneth said through tears. "I upset Madam Ellie. Go apologize to her quickly. Don't let her be upset.""Gwyneth, don't be like this." Colin hugged Gwyneth with concern. "This isn't your fault. My mother is just too stubborn.""But—" Gwyneth wanted to say more but was interrupted by Colin."Enough, stop talking," Colin said. "Go back

"Pen, do you like folk music?" Aren asked."Yes, I do." Aspen nodded. "Folk song lyrics are always so genuine and heartfelt—they really touch people's hearts.""Indeed," Aren said. "Like this song says, 'I still care for you deeply, like the wind that traveled 8,000 miles, not asking when it will return.'"Hearing these lyrics, something stirred in Aspen's heart. She turned to look at Aren. "Aren, do you... do you still remember this song?""Of course I remember," Aren replied. "This was our favorite song back in university.""Yes." A nostalgic gleam appeared in Aspen's eyes. "Back then, we often went to folk music performances together, traveled, and did so many things together.""Pen, I'll never forget those beautiful memories," Aren said tenderly. "I hope we can create many more wonderful memories together."Aspen looked at Aren, her smile growing sweeter.Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, the atmosphere in Colin's villa was entirely different."Colin, you're back."

"Pen, try this. It's a Valerian specialty, herb-roasted chicken." Aren placed a piece of chicken in Aspen's bowl."Thank you, Aren." Aspen tasted it, finding the flavor exquisite and the texture unique."Mmm, it's delicious.""I'm glad you like it." Aren smiled and served Aspen more dishes. They ate and chatted, creating a harmonious atmosphere. Aspen found that being with Aren made her feel relaxed and comfortable, as if she'd returned to her carefree university days."Aren, you know what? I'm really grateful to you," Aspen suddenly said. "Without the materials you provided, I couldn't have developed the Aetheris Group project's proposal so quickly.""Silly, no need to be so formal with me," Aren smiled. "I'm happy to help you. Besides, I believe with your abilities, you would have succeeded even without those materials.""Aren, you always have such faith in me," Aspen said gratefully."Because you're worth believing in." Aren looked at Aspen with deep affection, expressing hi

On the other side, Aren watched Aspen's busy figure and could feel tenderness welling up within him. Aspen had been working tirelessly on the Aetheris Group project these days, barely taking a single day of rest. Seeing this pained him.Aren approached Aspen and said gently, "Pen, you've been working too hard lately. Let's go relax somewhere, shall we? I've booked two plane tickets. Let's go to Old City to unwind."Aspen looked up at Aren's caring eyes, warmth filling her heart. She checked her schedule and he was right; there was nothing particularly urgent coming up.Aspen smiled and said, "That sounds wonderful, Aren. When do we leave?""Tomorrow," Aren replied. "I've already arranged the flights and hotel.""Aren, you're always so thoughtful," Aspen said gratefully."No need to be so formal with me." Aren affectionately ruffled Aspen's hair. "You push yourself too hard. You need to learn to balance work and rest.""I know, Aren," Aspen said as she nodded. "I'll see you tom

Aspen took the document and began examining it carefully. Her brow furrowed and relaxed alternately as her fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk."This part could be optimized further," Aspen pointed to a module on the screen. "We need to consider user experience. This operational process could be simplified more.""Yes, Ms. Nicholls, we'll revise it immediately," Alexa quickly responded. After several hours of intense work, the revised proposal was finally complete. Aspen tested it again, and after confirming everything was correct, she nodded with satisfaction."Good. Everyone has worked hard," said Aspen as she closed her laptop. "Tomorrow, we'll submit the final proposal to Aetheris Group.""Excellent!" Cheers erupted in the office as everyone high-fived, their faces beaming with excitement and pride.…Meanwhile, in Fuller Group's conference room, the atmosphere was entirely different."Mr. Fuller, are you alright?" Riley asked cautiously, watching Colin's distracted exp

At the same time, Colin sat in his office, looking at news reports about Aspen on his computer screen."Colin, what are you looking at?" Gwyneth asked curiously when she entered carrying coffee and saw Colin staring at the computer screen.Colin quickly closed the computer and turned to face Gwyneth. "Nothing, just browsing some news."Gwyneth nodded as she moved closer to Colin. She gently embraced him, asking softly, "Colin, are you still troubled about the investor conference?""It's nothing." Colin shook his head. "I just think your coffee tastes really good.""Really?" Gwyneth smiled. "If you like it, I'll make it for you every day.""Of course." Colin nodded and drained the coffee in his cup."Colin, could you... call me the way you used to call Aspen?" Gwyneth suddenly asked with a hint of pleading in her voice.Colin's eyes snapped open as he looked at Gwyneth, his gaze filled with shock and confusion. He didn't know what to say. He hadn't expected Gwyneth to make such

Meanwhile, Zac sat on the couch watching TV coverage about Aspen at his own place. A playful smile appeared at the corners of his mouth."Aspen, you're becoming more and more interesting," Zac murmured to himself. "I wonder what other tricks you have up your sleeve."He picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Look into Aspen's recent activities for me."A deep voice came from the other end. "Yes, Mr. Sanders. I'll investigate immediately."Zac hung up, tossed his phone aside, and continued watching TV. His gaze grew increasingly deep and inscrutable.…Meanwhile, Colin lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. His mind kept conjuring up images of Aspen and her confident, determined eyes."Aspen..." Colin murmured her name, his voice filled with complex emotions. There was even a hint of longing there. He closed his eyes, trying to banish Aspen's image from his mind. But the more he tried to forget her, the more clearly she appeared in his thoughts."Colin, what
