1. Once upon a stormy night....

While the humans of New York city were either save and warm inside their own homes, or out and about on their way to work or recreation, outside the city somewhere in the wild, far away from human eyes, a woman had just given birth to a little boy with beautiful brown / golden eyes and a cute nose.

As she stayed hidden in between some trees, bushes and high grass she was watched over by the moon, while an authum storm raket about the city and the woods with all.itw inhabitants.

She lay beside her newborn pup and looked at him with motherly love. He looked exactly like him, his father Xander, her mate.

Just like herself, her son was born a shifter. Half human and half bear, a grizzly bear to be precise. Later when he would come of age he would shift for the first time and find his mate hopefully and start his own family.

Sara Grizzly, wife of Xander Grizzly the bilionaire and philantrop of NY City had just given birth to their first son, all alone in the wild without Xander by her side.

Why? You might ask. Well that's a sad story in itself.

For years, humans and creatures of the hidden realm, had been living alongside each other in peace sometimes mingling since more and more the creatures of the fantasy realm found more reasons to go and live or visit the human world, but recently things had started to change after some unsettling 'incidents' involving species of both sides.

And the last, most recent incident had involved unfortunately, her husband, her beloved mate Xander!

She looked up at the sky where the moon shone her light brightly in the night sky as Sara cuddled closer to protect her pup from the chilly wind and sighed, closing her eyes as she thought back of the night she had lost her mate.

It all started six months ago when the mayor of NY had died in a car accident.

After that a new mayor had arrived some weeks later after he was newly appointed.

This new guy, Mayor De la Croix was a nasty man!

He disliked everything about the fantasy realm and had said in an interview that he would NOT tolerate other species in town anymore but not saying exactly why, but with such a hatred in his eyes that it even made the woman who was doing the interview with him, tremble internally since she was a howler herself, a Luna of the famous moon howlers pack. But thank the moon goddes, he hadn't noticed!

At the end of the interview he turned his full attention to the tv camera and had put out a verdict that by the end of the month a new law would be created. A law that probated any creature from the fantasy realm to set foot in the human world.

La Croix had said that there could be an exception for some species if he thinks those are good for the human society and if they are willing to participate in a, what he called a cleansing program to get rid of the "animalistics" but as it has turned out that cleansing Programme that he had started did not clense anything! Some wolves were found dead afterwards and thrown into the woods and some others had completely gone feral and were either murdered by a special task force that was also introduced by La Croix, or they became rogues.

In short a dramatic disaster!

Since Mr. Grizzly and his family belonged to the richer side of society with him having his own company which he built with his own hands which made him a billionaire, one very respected one for that matter and also famous for his dealings with both sides in society.

Only his their closest friends and family knew what they truly are and they were always safe, that is, up till now!

Since the night Xander was brutally murdered by the mayor's special creature, the task force she has been either on the run or in hiding.

Sara still remembers it vividly.

She was heavenly pregnant with their pup and that night suddenly she had felt really sick, even in pain and she thought that her pup was going to be born prematurely, so she had rushed back home in the hope she would find Xander their to help her, when she had arrived she find her mate lying in a pool of his own blood and that was the moment she felt the mate bond shattering completely and she realised that what she had felt before was the beginning of their mate bond breaking when they were killing him.

She had cried and cried until there was no tear left to cry anymore and she had called her best friend who had come and took her in with her own family but since the word was out that the great billionaire Grizzly was murdered in his own home they were now in search of his pregnant wife Sara so in the end she kept on running from one hiding place to another untill she ended up into the wild where they had a secret hide-out, a treehouse with a secret passage that lead underground but unfortunately tonight in this Stormy weather their pup had announced himself to the world just as his mom had been in the run again back to their hide-out after been to a human doctor.

But unfortunately for Sarah she was caught by one of the search partus sniffer dogs who were specially trained to sniff out "none-humans"

Sarah sighed while keeping her pup close, her son the son she created out of love with his father Xander. She missed him so much but there was nothing she could do about it, he was gone forever and he only lived through his son, little Grissom as his name was going to be, Grissom Grizzly, they had come up with while in a fit of laughter.

As she remembered that day when they had given their unborn pup his name, a tear slipped down her face and fell on Grissom's cheek who looked back up at his mom with his big doe-like chocolate eyes.

"I am so sorry little one, you father wanted to meet you so badly but he couldn't make it in the end so now it's only me and you, against the world!" Sarah says and means in and kisses his forehead lovingly.

After that she got up after some minutes looking around and listening if she could find something suspicious

But she did not, so she got up with Grissom in her arms and slowly made her way through the leaves and high grass until she saw the path she initially came from before she went into labor.

After some time she suddenly heard faint voices so she stopped in her tracks and listened and just when she thought that it was nothing and was about to move in she heard the noise of a cracking piece of wood and then a dark figure stepped out of the buses cornering her between some trees.

"La Croix! I think I've found her!" The man dressed in black armor says in a law voice through his earpiece with his eyes plastered on a frightened Sarah who keeps Grissom tucked away in her arms hoping that he will stay quiet so they will not notice that she has been giving birth.

But fate was not on her side again!

The shadows of clouds moved away from the moon so now Sarah was bathing in its Moonlight, exposed, in full view. To her horror the man in front of her widened his eyes as he looked at her chest area where Grissom was suckling her breast a bit too noisy.

With her eyes she pleaded with the man but he didn't budge and grabbed her arm but missed the first time and she ducked and hid Grissom quickly into the high grass.

Then he tried again and this time she let him grab her praying that with her sacrifice her son Grissom would live.

As the moon was witness of the brutal slaughtering of the last of little Grissom's family, Grissom lay still between the high grass, staring up at the moon with his big doe-like eyes, blissfully unknown of what was happening a little away from him where his mother swore to protect her pup at all costs.

That night she gave her life, in the hope she had done all she could to protect her pup......but fate was not on her side......

When the man was done and cleaned the blood from the weapon he suddenly heard a soft noise and he looked around with his torch until the light hit a little bundle with bright brown eyes, hidden between the high grass.......

He bended down and looked and gasped.....

He heared his men walking around nearby as he starred into those beautiful eyes of the child and something in him started to change....

At a split second he made a choice, a choice that was very dangerous but he felt it was the right one to make as he picked up little Grissom and hid him in his jacket and sneaked away.....
