JEFFREY

I woke up with my skull pounding like it had been used as a drum set.

Dang.

Why do I keep drinking when I clearly can’t handle it?

I winced, pushing off the duvets that had somehow tangled around my legs like restraints. I had no idea how I got home last night. I didn’t even remember how it went with the dancer guy.

I sat up slowly, my head spinning, and my stomach aching from the hangover.

Dragging myself to the kitchen, I grabbed a frozen tub of soup from the fridge, popped the lid off, and shoved it into the microwave.

I closed it and set the timer, I reached for my phone, half-dreading what I’d find.

A couple of messages from Ruby. One from Kyla.

None from Ronald.

Right. I remembered that I had blocked him. Drunk me was very decisive.

I stared at his name sitting cold in my blocked list, then tossed the phone onto the counter. It was better this way.

We weren’t even in a relationship. It was just… a series of bad decisions I let turn into something deep.

So why the hell d

THIRD PERSON POV Astor rose from his chair, his gaze hard. “Sit down, Ronald.”Ronald didn’t move. “Dad, I’m done with your games. I’m done letting you drag me into your web. So tell me… what the fuck is going on? And what is this bastard doing here?” He jabbed a finger at Connor.Astor’s voice thundered. “Ronald! He is my son. Your brother. And you will treat him as such.”Ronald’s laugh was sharp and bitter. “The same way Kyla was suddenly my fiancée and I had to treat her as such? Tell me, what am I to you then? Not your son?” He took a step closer, his voice dropping into a cold edge. “You had better disown me, before I ever accept him as a brother.”Astor’s jaw tightened. “Don’t threaten me, Ronald.”“Take it however you want, Father,” Ronald shot back. “But I’m not going to sit here and dine with that snake.” He turned on his heel and walked out, the echo of his footsteps cutting through the tense silence.Megan pushed back her chair so abruptly that it scraped against the mar

  • Love is War: But I'd bleed for you   Chapter 82: Ronald Will Listen

THIRD PERSON POV Connor returned to Astor’s estate after receiving a personal request from the man himself. This time, he was not led to the general residence but to Astor’s private lounge by Astor’s personal assistant. The room was warm and inviting, its rich wood walls lined with shelves of books and old photographs. A low dining table sat near the window, already set for six. Astor rose from his seat as Connor entered, a faint, welcoming smile on his face.“Connor,” Astor greeted, gesturing toward the table. “Come, have a seat.”A maid soon appeared, carrying a tray laden with steaming dishes, which she set before them. The aroma of seasoned meats and freshly baked bread filled the air. Astor motioned toward the food. “Help yourself.”As they began to eat, Astor’s expression softened. “I am truly grateful to Olivia,” he said, his voice measured. “For writing in her journal about us and the life we had then, it was the only way that you could find me.”Connor paused, his fork halfw

  • Love is War: But I'd bleed for you   Chapter 81: It's Max Again

THIRD PERSON POV Max strode into the room with a measured confidence that made the air seem heavier. His presence filled the space before he was in, and when he finally spoke, it rolled out in a deep, coarse rumble that was both familiar and unsettling.“Hello, young Kyla,” he said, drawing out her name as if savoring it. “You’ve grown… and married. The Boss is impressed.”The words should have sounded like praise, but from Max, they carried the weight of a test or an evaluation she could fail in an instant.Kyla’s pulse quickened in her chest, though she kept her face calm, and her expression unreadable. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing her flinch.“What are you doing here?” she asked evenly, meeting his gaze head-on.Max tilted his head, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.“I’m the one asking,” he countered. “What are you doing here, Kyla?”He stepped forward, closing the space between them in slow, deliberate strides. The muffled sound of his boots on

THIRD PERSON POVJules raised a brow at her, his voice dropping slightly. “What are you thinking about, my little fox?”Kyla’s lips twitched into a soft smile. “Old times,” she said, her voice was low and soft. “Be honest… Did you miss me?”Jules swallowed hard. “You have no idea.”They stared at each other for a heartbeat longer, the air thick with tension. Her gaze dipped to his mouth before she leaned in and sealed her lips over his. The kiss was soft at first, then deeper, and hungrier as Jules pulled her closer, both of them surrendering to the weeks of longing pressed between them.Jules’ cock strained against the fabric of his jeans, so hard it was almost painful. Kyla’s hands moved down without hesitation, fingers working to open his zipper. She pushed both jeans and briefs down, freeing him. His thick, hard length sprang forward, and she climbed onto his lap in one smooth movement. His hands gripped her waist as she positioned herself, guiding her hips as she slowly sank do

THIRD PERSON POV Kyla had barely settled back into her office after a long, exhausting week, filled with document signings, photo shoots, and more time than she cared to spare at Ronald’s office. Her phone had remained worryingly silent the whole time, as Jules still had not returned any of her calls. It wasn’t like him.And if Max really was back… if the Boss had given him any sort of power, things could spiral quickly. Max didn’t do anything subtle. He didn’t follow the rules entirely either. His name alone carried its weight, and not the good kind. Kyla groaned and let her head drop to her desk in frustration.A sharp knock at the door made her sit up immediately.“Come in,” she called. Her assistant stepped in, holding a small tablet. “Ma'am, there’s a young man here to see you. He says his name is Jules. Should I ask him to wait?”Kyla's breath left her in relief. “No. Let him in.”Three minutes passed before the door opened again. The assistant stepped aside, letting Jules ent

THIRD PERSON POV “Do you take him to be your husband? To love, honor, and stand by him from this day forward?” the officiant asked, his voice echoing in the flower decorated hall. Kyla smiled graciously. “Yes.” “Do you take her to be your wife? To protect, cherish, and walk beside her all your life?” Ronald nodded, sharp and firmly. “I do.” A loud cheer rolled through the audience with a bunch of cute sounds. “Then by the power vested in me,” the officiant continued, smiling, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” The crowd applauded. Ronald didn’t wait. He pulled Kyla close, one hand pressing against the small side of her back, the other catching her chin. He kissed her slowly and deeply like it wasn’t just a ceremony, like he was claiming her in front of the entire world. Kyla didn’t resist either. She curled her hand behind his neck as the cameras flashed and the crowd rose to their feet. The celebration slipped into full swing mode, with cham
