THIRD PERSON POV

Ronald’s shoes tapped faintly as he walked briskly down the stone path, his eyes scanning every garden bend and corner of the estate grounds. The breeze rustled through the leaves above him, but all he could hear was his own heartbeat pounding in his ears.

“Jeffrey,” he muttered under his breath.

There was no sign of him.

His grip tightened around the gun tucked under his jacket. How far had he gone just to take a walk?

He turned another corner, his frustration turning into worry, until a sudden shout broke through from the distance.

Ronald didn’t hesitate.

He pulled out his gun and sprinted toward the sound, his feet kicking up gravel, his eyes dark with panic and rage. As he rounded the corner, the scene snapped into view.

Jeffrey was there, held in place by a man, Dave. The barrel of a small handgun pressed tightly against Jeffrey’s neck.

A security guard stood several feet away, slowly advancing with his own weapon drawn.

Ronald’s chest rose and fell. His breath

JEFFREYThe wind carried the smell of damp earth and flowers. I walked with my hands in my pockets, watching the sway of the trees lining the quiet estate road. My thoughts were still tangled, Ronald’s past, my spray-painted car, and that crawling anxious feeling in my gut that had only gotten worse today.I wasn’t ready to go back inside just yet. There was a small garden up ahead, tucked between hedges. It looked empty. Peaceful, and quiet.I veered toward it and settled on the wooden bench beneath a tree, letting the breeze touch my skin. For a while, I just sat there, breathing. No sound apart from the rustle of leaves. I closed my eyes and pretended the rest of the world didn’t exist.Something rustled behind me. I jolted upright- my heart shooting into my throat… only to spot a rabbit darting across the grass. I let out a shaky breath, a small laugh leaving me.“Jesus,” I muttered. The rabbit twitched its nose, looked at me, then bolted. When it disappeared into the shrubs, I f

THIRD PERSON POVThe room was silent, apart from the faint vibration of the air conditioner. Kyla stood in front of her wardrobe, a black sheet mask stretched tightly over her face. Her fingers moved with mechanical grace as she reached for the small, blank container hidden behind her rows of silk blouses. She brought it out and opened the case. The tear-shaped perfume bottle inside caught the light, the rose-gold liquid glinting softly. Kyla unscrewed the top and sprayed a small amount onto a white napkin. The scent was faint but unusual. Something sweet and floral, and very feminine. But she couldn't risk inhaling it to tell. She set the bottle down carefully. Then she peeled the mask from her face and walked to the edge of her bed. Her tone was crisp but light as she called out, “MaryJane?”A few moments later, her maid appeared at the door. “Yes, ma’am?”Kyla offered a small smile and held up the napkin. “I just got a new perfume. Can you help me test the scent? I want an honest

RONALD. The moment Jeffrey’s question left his lips, I felt the air in the room shift. He was staring at me, searching for an answer he needed. I held his gaze steadily. “Yes,” I said. “Now would you let it go?” Jeffrey didn’t answer right away. His eyes lingered on mine for a beat longer, I felt the fight drain from him. “Fine,” he muttered. “If you don’t want to talk about it…” He turned away from me and walked towards the door. “I need to go for a walk.” “Where are you going?” I asked, already knowing I wouldn’t like the answer. He looked over his shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’m not leaving the estate.” And just like that, he walked out. I sighed, walked to the bar, and poured myself a glass of water. I didn’t drink it immediately. I stared at the ripple in the glass until a familiar memory came crashing back in, intruding my thoughts. ********** FLASHBACK It was a quiet diner on the east end. Faint music humming from the speakers. The diner booth lights were harsh, expos

JEFFREY My lips parted to say no.But I stopped.A flash of the memory crossed my mind, the man who had been following me weeks ago. The feeling I couldn’t shake off throughout that day, even though i wasnt really sure. Then… Connor. Kyla’s friend. I'm not sure I should be suspicious of him, but his voice was unsettling. Then again, it was all in my head. I was probably in a bad state and was paranoid. I shook my head quickly. No. It couldn’t have been Connor. Kyla had only just introduced us that day, he wouldn’t have known about my existence before that. Right?“I don’t know,” I said finally, my voice smaller than I wanted it to be.But even as the words left my mouth, a cold, crawling sensation spread across my back. The weird feeling swallowed me again. That I was being watched. That someone had been tracking me all this time, waiting for the right moment to do something like this. And for the love of God, I couldn't figure out why.My knees wobbled.Ronald caught my arm immed

  • Love is War: But I'd bleed for you   Chapter 32: An Ugly Message

THIRD PERSON POVKyla sat across from a man in a charcoal suit, the blinds drawn shut against the morning light. The air between them was still, traced with quiet calculation. Without a word, she slid a small, rectangular box across the wooden table. It made a soft scraping sound, the only noise in the otherwise hushed room. The man wore black leather gloves. He picked up the box carefully, like it was something very valuable, and unlatched the clasp with practiced precision. A brief nod followed. He was obviously pleased, and satisfied when he saw the contents inside. He bent down, opened a low locker beside his chair, and retrieved a matte black container. There were no markings or logos. Just sleek, polished black can.He handed it to Kyla. She lifted the lid slowly. Inside sat a perfume bottle, elegant, glass-cut, shaped like a teardrop. It glinted even under the dim overhead lights, the liquid inside had a colour like faint rose-gold.Her fingers moved toward the stopper.“What
