*Starblood Pack — Dungeon, Late Night*

The Starblood dungeons smelled of rust. Water dripped steadily from somewhere deep in the tunnels, each drop echoing like a countdown in Lesley’s ears. Moonlight from the narrow slit of a window pooled faintly on the floor, a thin silver blade that mocked her captivity.

She sat cross-legged on her cot, wrists raw where silver cuffs had bitten her skin over weeks. Beside her cell, Aria perched on her own bench, chin propped on her hands, eyes bright even in the dim light. The maid’s nails were chipped, her hair tangled, but her voice was smooth when she whispered, “You still think about him, don’t you?”

Lesley’s head snapped up, her eyes flashing. “Ryder? No.” The denial was sharp. “I think about what should have been mine.”

Aria smirked. “Which is him?”

Lesley’s silence said enough.

She rose and paced the small cell, chains rattling softly. Her bare feet slid softly across the damp floor. Her thoughts burned hotter than the torches outside. The p

*Moonlight Pack — Collapsing North Wall, Nightfall*The breach roared open Moonlight’s defenses. Wolves fought in chaotic clusters—claws raking, and war cries drowning in the sounds of collapsing timber.Crystal’s barrier of fire flared, holding the line for a while longer. But she could already feel the strain—every second the Flame burned in her palms stole another breath from her lungs. Her chest heaved, smoke stinging her throat. She forced more heat into the gap, sealing off three rogues that clawed for the opening. They fell back, yelping as fire curled around their tails.Behind her, George’s voice cut through the uproar. “Crystal!”She spun toward him as George stepped through the smoke. Ashes streaked his fur and the tatters of his cloak, and his jaw was set in a hard line.“George.” Her voice cracked. She remembered his smirk at the wedding feast, the cold sting of his rejection under the watch of the pack members. The words still hurt, even now.He stalked closer, dodging a

*Moonlight Pack — Outer Walls, Nightfall*The night glowed red with fire. Moonlight Pack walls shook under the pounding of rams and claws. Smoke rose towards the moon, hiding the stars that had watched over the wolves for generations. The cries of the wounded mixed with clashing steel filled the place.Ryder’s boots sank into mud darkened with ashes as he barked orders, his voice cutting through chaos. “Hold the east breach! Don’t let them split the line!” Aiden prowled just beneath his skin, begging to rip and tear, but Ryder held to command, scanning for Crystal.Crystal stood a few paces ahead on the rampart, her palms ablaze with the Flame’s light. Orange fire licked up her arms, searing the incoming rogues that leapt the broken walls. Her hair whipped around her face, her silhouette a beacon against the burning night. Each bolt she loosed turned the battlefield momentarily bright as day.Crystal’s thoughts tangled with Aelira’s voice—her wolf urging her to unleash everything, to

*Moonlight Territory – Pre-Dawn*Crystal’s boots sank slightly into the wet soil as she and Ryder emerged from the pines at the ridge overlooking Moonlight’s wooden stockade. Torches glimmered weakly along the walls, their flames swallowed by haze. She drew in a sharp breath—the place where she had been scorned, cast aside, now stood on the edge of destruction.Aiden shifted under Ryder’s skin. The High Alpha scanned the valley, golden eyes narrowing. Beside them, Alpha Darius crouched low, his scarred hands pressed to the ground as if feeling tremors through the earth. Evren hovered near, expression unreadable, though his wolf’s energy prickled the air.“They’re moving,” Darius murmured. From the east, a distant horn wailed, the same sound that had haunted battlefields. Wolves stiffened. Through the fog, the first shapes appeared… Silver Fang banners cutting through the mist, rows upon rows of dark-furred warriors marching silent and sure. The horns answered from the west and north—a

*Starblood Borderlands – Dusk*The air smelled of smoke before anyone saw the flames. Aiden rumbled restlessly inside Ryder’s chest as the wind shifted, carrying the acrid sting of burning pine. Somewhere beyond the ridges, Silver Fang was moving again—bolder now, testing the cracks Alpha Thorne had warned them about.Ryder’s golden eyes swept the gathered warriors… Greenwood’s veterans, Shadow Pack’s grim-faced soldiers under Darius, Starblood’s own—every wolf ready but wary. Crystal stood slightly apart. Even now, after nights of whispered vows, she felt the weight of those stares—the Flame, the prophecy, the weapon. She flexed her fingers against her palms, steadying herself.“Positions,” Ryder commanded. “Hold the line at the river bend. Do not break ranks.”Luca jogged to her side, blades strapped across his back, pride in every stride. He gave her a tight grin. “Stay close to Alpha Ryder. Don’t make me drag the Flame back from doing something reckless.”Crystal arched a brow. “Y

*Starblood Keep – Night*The great hall of Starblood had been cleared for war council again, the long table now scarred by claws and etched with hurried markings from a dozen frantic strategy sessions. Outside, the wind blew around the walls, carrying with it the smell of distant smoke—a reminder that Silver Fang’s reach was growing.Crystal stood at Ryder’s side, shoulder to shoulder with him as more Alphas filed in, their faces taut with exhaustion. Her fingers brushed the edge of the map spread across the table, tracing roads and borders she had memorized but now seemed fragile under her touch. Alpha Thorne entered last. He moved with the same calm gravity that had made him Greenwood’s unchallenged king for generations, but Crystal noticed the faint stiffness in his gait—a wolf who had fought too many battles and carried too many memories. His eyes, bright and wild even now, locked on Ryder before sweeping across the gathered faces.“Another border burned,” he said without preambl
