Aria

“Someone is here," the little lady said, looking at the door.

I jumped out of bed expecting the worst. I knew it could only be Kael and Claus. I knew there was no escape now. They were going to take me to Nightshade.

"Let me go check," the other tiny lady said, stepping away while I held her.

"No, you may be murdered. Let me leave instead; it is I that they want," I added, my tone hurtful.

"No, my Queen, please do not leave," she cried, gripping my hand.

I attempted to hold back my emotions before opening the door to go outdoors. I knew they were watching me.

"I am here, OK. You do not have to kill the dwarfs; you want me," I murmured, taking a big breath.

"My Queen," the small woman said in a cracking tone.

"It is going to be OK," I said, turning to face them as a massive black-furred wolf with streaks of ash gray golden eyes emerged from behind the shrubbery.

This was unlike anything I had ever seen, and I sensed a connection between us.
