LOGINArielle's POV
What's going on? I mean, how did we get to this? The same man who claimed not to give a damn about me had his lips placed on mine.I gently disconnected our lips and tried to push him away, but he held me tighter. "What are you...?"
"Shh," he hushed me. "Play along. This is a little way you can pay back for my car."
Then he kissed me again. Much to my surprise, my lips slowly began to move in rhythm with his.
Oh goodness. I let a stranger have my first kiss. I didn't just let him. I was actually kissing him back.
When he finally let go of me, I was breathless, gazing into his eyes with shock. I was drowning in those deep blue eyes of his that reminded me of the ocean.
"Luciano!" A high-pitched female voice rang behind me.
Turning back, I was surprised to see an elegant lady staring at us with tears streaming down her cheeks. The man finally let go of my waist, and I regained my breath, although the thudding of my heart didn't cease.
Now I get it. He was using me to make the other woman jealous.
"Cosa ti prende? How could you do this to me?" she said, her accent coated with heavy Italian.
[What is wrong with you?]
"Oh, ti prego, Bella. Non sentirti troppo importante," he said flatly. "Maybe if you had come earlier, I wouldn't have called my girlfriend to come along."
[Oh please, Bella. Don't feel too important.]
Their argument was already attracting other people's attention. I stood there, transfixed, and glancing from one person to another, unable to understand what they were saying. I had lived in Italy for a greater portion of my life, and I never tried to learn their language.
He grabbed my waist again. "Now, if you will excuse me, I've got some catching up to do with my girl."
Your girl? What had I gotten myself into?
"I'll tell everyone about this. You'll regret this!" The lady yelled.
He chuckled. "What's the worst that can happen?"
I didn't fail to notice the hard glare the lady shot at me before stomping out.
Then I turned to the man. "I don't get it. Who are you?" The question left my lips.
"That should never bother you, principessa," he responded while staring into my eyes and cupping my cheek with his large palm. "You did well."
Anyone looking at us right now would think we were actually a couple.
His eyes darted behind again and narrowed. I couldn't even do a thing. I was just there, trapped in his cage and wondering who he was and the kind of authority he possessed.
"Mario!" He roared all of a sudden. Everyone froze and turned to look at him, but no one dared to look much longer. His voice alone commanded attention. It was as if the earth froze and everyone came to a standstill.
Can the ground just open so I can fall inside? What kind of attention seeker is this?
The supposed Mario came forward, holding a camera. I could sense the fear in him as he stood before the man, Luciano.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Luciano snarled.
"Non volevo tradirti, capo, è tuo nonno." [I didn't mean to betray you boss, it's your grandfather.]
"You're working for my grandfather now?"
Mario pursed his lips. "I can't say no to him."
"Elimina quelle immagini." [Delete those pictures]
Mario flinched. "Tuo nonno potrebbe uccidermi." [Your grandfather might kill me]
Luciano swallowed. "Meriti di essere ucciso." [You deserve to be killed.]
Nonno. Okay, I caught that one. That's grandfather, but the rest were vague. I hated the fact that I was lost. I wished I could quietly walk away and end the strange event of a day, but his arm was wound tightly around my waist.
Mario bowed his head slightly. "I'm sorry."
Luciano's eyes seemed to soften. "What would you have me do?"
"Play along with her."
"Leave," he ordered in English, then Mario left. Then, he shifted his attention to me.
"What is your name?" He asked.
"Arielle," I replied, still shocked at the turn of events. I didn't want to answer, but I couldn't stop my lips from moving. Maybe because I was scared. The dark aura emanating from this man was terrifying.
"Where are you from?"
Why the sudden questions? But I answered anyway. "New York. What do you want from me?"
"You're going home with me," he said with a stoic expression.
"Excuse me?"
"I don't need to overemphasize that. Grab your things and follow me."
He was damn serious.
"Okay, okay. This is absolutely crazy, you know. You have no right to order me around. I'm not going anywhere with you!" I screamed.
He didn't say a word, he just stared at me with hooded eyes—no expression.
"It's not a request. Follow me, Arielle," he said. The way he mentioned my name startled me. It sounded like an abomination on his lips.
"No," I replied boldly.
His lips curled into a smirk which disappeared as soon as it came. "I don't take no for an answer. You'll find exactly what you're looking for."
I squared my shoulders and shook my head in disagreement. "I'm not going with you."
"Fine," was the only reply he gave before striding out of the art gallery.
Large numbers of heavily bodied men dressed in black followed him. I thought those men were guarding the gallery, but they were Luciano's guards.
Who exactly is this man?
I swallowed a hard lump that had formed in my throat and watched as every one of them walked out. Soon, normalcy was restored to the gallery, and everyone continued with their chatter.
I let out a sigh of relief then went to another painting. A warm smile appeared on my cheeks as I began to describe the painting, even though fear was clawing at the back of my mind.
Gabriel's POV "How can she say no to me? No one has ever defied my orders," I barked, pacing around the parking lot outside the gallery.Everyone sensed my anger as they all avoided me except Alessio, my closest man who came forward, trying to calm me.
"I could have dragged her with me. In fact, I'm going back in there to get her," I continued ranting.
Alessio stopped me. "She is not willing to follow you. People will notice, and your grandfather wouldn't be happy."
I gritted my teeth. "If it weren't for her importance to me, I would have designed her very death by now."
"She's a woman," Alessio reminded me of my rule about not hurting women.
"I know, but she's getting on my nerves."
"Be a little more patient. We will get her for you."
I had used up a lot of patience just tonight. First was Bella, now this... Arielle.
The people started leaving the hall, and it was just me and my men, waiting.
For her.
Arielle's POV I received a call from Alessio telling me to stay at home for a few days before I could resume work. And that's what I did. I stayed at home, hardly talking to anybody.I didn't tell my mom about the experience. I lied to her about the injury because I didn't want her to worry about me.Maven knew he wronged me, so he kept his distance. We were cool, but not like before. I was still slightly annoyed with him.Violet called multiple times. I didn't know what to tell her so I ignored. The only thing on my mind, the only thing I kept pondering about was Luciano's attitude after he dropped me home. Why would he tell me to leave the car all of a sudden after offering a broad chest for me to cry on?It didn't make any sense to me, and I was determined to know the reason.I picked up my phone and dialed the number Alessio sent to me. I never thought a day would come when I would call Luciano. After a few seconds of ringing, he finally picked up."Hello," he said, his voice low
Jennie's POV Something was wrong with Gabriel, and I knew it. There was an external influence on him because he had changed in every way. Little did I know that his personal assistant was behind his change. Tonight confirmed my suspicions. Heaven knows how sore my eyes got from watching him hug her. It was unbelievable. He never hugged any other woman except me. A lot had changed.I paced about as they left the room, worried and irritated."What was that?" I asked Alessio."What?""Who is she to him?" My voice was icy as I questioned."His personal assistant.""I know that, silly. There's something else. They are close. Tell me everything you know, Alessio.""There's nothing going on between them. It's platonic," he replied dryly."Platonic," I snapped. "But he's attached to her. I've observed it. Just three months of my absence, and he's already clinging to her."Alessio stared at me like I was some kind of raging bitch. "Why are you bothered? You've always wanted to see this cari
Arielle's POV We arrived at his place. My mind was already too preoccupied with the recent incident that I couldn't take in the surroundings or admire the beauty of Luciano's home. Alessio led me into the house. It had a cool, comforting ambiance for any visitor. It was unlike his family home in Italy, which screamed danger. We entered a room—a shooting range. There were targets set up across the room and guns carefully arranged. Luciano was standing behind Jennie Morgan, his hands wrapped around her as he guided her to aim at the target. They were having fun, and then I realized I was in the wrong place. I was sad. I was bitter and pained. I didn't want to ruin their fun. Besides, Luciano warned me about Noah. What if he doesn't care anymore? What if I had already pissed him off by going back to Noah? I turned back to Alessio. "I think I'll just go home. Do you mind driving?" "Are you sure you want to—?" "Yes," I replied, wiping the tears from my face. I had just take
Arielle's POVNoah held my hand, leading me into his house. The warm lighting and slow gentle music set the tone for the evening. He led me to the dining table and pulled a chair for me to sit.The table was adorned with rose petals and carefully arranged flowers. There were already several dishes spread out on the table, the sweet aroma of food wafting into the air.I thought we were just going to watch a movie together or have a normal dinner. I didn't expect him to pull off something like this."I love this!" I exclaimed with genuine delight. He smiled then leaned to kiss my forehead. "I'm sorry for what I did. I'm just paying for my sins." He chuckled and kissed me on the lips. "Happy birthday, Arielle."My eyes sparkled with excitement. "Thank you. Thank you for all of this."As we began to eat, I stole glances at him and giggled each time he caught me staring. I was satisfied with this—this moment. It was reality. We chatted and laughed while digging into our plates. Occasionall
Arielle's POV "I viewed your story last night. OMG, did Noah take you to that expensive restaurant?" Violet asked at work the next day."No. Not Noah," I responded. There was a deadpan silence as she hung her mouth open while staring at me.She shook her head in disbelief. "Oh no. Don't tell me it's Mr Gabriel."I made a face and nodded. "And I can tell you it was the best night of my life. I've never felt so happy in a long time."She was staring at me with worry and concern etched on her face. "Oh, Arielle. You never listen.""That's not it. I talked to Mr Gabriel that I can't be around him, and yeah, we ended it that day. But then, Noah didn't show up yesterday.""What? Why?""I don't know. I called him and texted him, and there's been no reply, and he's not even here now. I'm worried.""Well, we all know he's a latecomer. Actually, I saw him hanging out with his friends last night at a popular club. I thought maybe he later met up with you.""No, he didn't. Then, I met Mr Gabrie
Gabriel's POV She pursed her lips, staring down at the floor then sighed and started taking quick steps towards me.My eyes took in her entire appearance. A short sleeveless halterneck gown clung perfectly to her curves. The red silkiness of her hair matched with her dress, a light makeup accentuating her beauty. She dressed so beautifully for the night only for the fool, Noah to leave her alone and stranded.Alessio never listened to me when I told him to stop telling me about Arielle. He'd always come and give a report at the end of the day, and I'd always pretend not to listen. Today was just one of those days. As soon as he told me about Noah's absence, I felt my entire being ignited with a kind of fury I'd never experienced before. Of all days to be absent, it had to be on her birthday.I blamed her though. She was unable to see through his deceitful appearance.I started the car immediately, zooming off with anger still brewing inside me."Where are you taking me?" she asked.
