23~ Letting go

Evelyn was shaken to the core.

The child’s death was not something she anticipated.

Everything happened as if in slow motion. The bad man slit the child’s throat and Mike removed another gun from behind his pants and shot him in the middle of his eyebrows.

“Ahhhh!” A scream tore through Evelyn’s throat. She clamped her hands over her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes.

This scene was all too terrifying. She just witnessed two people being killed in front of her for the first time in her life.

The dangerous encounter made Evelyn jump out of her skin. She couldn’t fathom how these people could easily kill a person without remorse.

After snapping out of her dazed state, she rushed to the child lying on the cold hard ground and held him in her arms.

Her heart broke seeing the young promising life that was stolen away by a selfish bad man. At that moment, she regretted feeling sorry for him. ‘I should have let Damian’s men deal with him. He deserved it.’ She muttered to hers
