The smiles started to slip off, and they began to look at one another again. It was time to discuss this and lay out all of the options they have. It was the elder than was sitting on Gabe's right hand that spoke first. “What did you just say alpha?” She asked. She was an old woman who had lived two centuries, but she looked only a day or two over sixty. She had an aura of peace going about her, and Gabe hoped that the peace will be used to full advantage tonight. “I said that I’ve found my mate, and she’s human.” He repeated as calmly as he could. These people were, after all, not his enemies but his friends and family. Another elder sitting beside the peaceful woman spoke. “But are you sure about that?” he asked. He had also lived for about two centuries and he was in his fifties in real life. He was the youngest of the elders. Gabe nodded his head, he couldn’t be more sure of anything in his entire life, and he told them so. There was silence as they all looked at one another
“What?” Gabe asked. “That’s not possible, I can’t do that.” He growled, Gold immediately coming unto the surface. His eyes shone with gold and the people around the table realized who was talking at that moment. “I will never do that, it’s asking for too much. I want her to be near me, every fucking day.” He said. Quickly, Dean's mind linked with his. “Calm down Gabe, or Gold. You have to get the elders to trust that you can’t lose control. It’s been good so far, so don’t spoil it.” He said. Gold listened to that, and the picture of Alex being dragged away from his house came to him, that would be messy. He swallowed down his anger and allowed Gabe to take over again. “Then, the only way we’ll allow that is if someone else is allowed to live with you both, in the mansion.” Gabe sighed. “Why not make it two, or three.” He said under his breath, but they heard him, and the defiant elder nodded. “Yeah, that’s a perfect idea. Three people would be perfect because at least you won’t b
There was nothing Alex could do about Gabe now, especially since he had brought home two women, old and young, and with a child. He had brought them home last night, saying they were his guest and had to stay for a little period of time. That was a new change she wasn’t expecting, and she hoped that he hadn’t brought them home because of her. Perhaps, he hoped that would help keep them both at arm's length. She just thought that she would keep trying to get him to be with her, but now that people were staying with them, she didn’t know how that would work. She was in the kitchen making dinner for everyone when Gabe poked his head into the kitchen. “Hey, Alex. How are you?”She looked over her shoulder at him and nodded. “I'm all right.” She said, purposefully avoiding his eyes or his mouth. As he walked into the kitchen and came to stand behind her, she walked away, getting out from in front of him to walk to the fridge. God, what was he doing here, smiling at her as if he wanted he
He stood in front of her as if he was the owner of her, commanding her body to stay rooted, even when he invaded her personal space and stood only a foot away. While she swore, she was breaking a record, because she had never been like this for or with anyone before. She tried to punish herself, and break whatever spell he had cast on her. “Leave me alone," she demanded, surprised that he was like this with her when anyone could easily come into the room. "Not until you talk to me." He said, and she quickly retorted. "I have nothing to say.""Too bad for you." He said, his arm snaking around her waist, and he pushed his weight into her, knocking her off balance. Her eyes widened in fear, but her brain told her at the last minute that he wouldn’t let her fall, so she calmed down, only for them to tumble down together. He held her close, as they tumbled on the soft rug that was laid in front of the counter, Alex landing on top of him while he took the brunt of the fall. "I'm not done
Gabe had been working all day today, and he hadn’t stepped out of his office since morning, not for breakfast or even lunch, and it was dinner time. He hadn’t even gone to the office today, but he had stayed indoors working as if he had nothing else to do with his life. Here at the house, things were back to the normal way, but with more people around. As Alex set the last plate on the table, she glanced up and her eyes connected with Ms. Alice's eyes. She smiled at her sweetly. The woman, on getting to know her was a sweet and peaceful soul, always smiling around the house. She would sit around the sitting room with a big yarn of wool with a knitting pin in hand, knitting all day, only stopping for food, or to talk when she was having a short break with either Dee or Alex. To be honest, Alex was having so much fun having them around, seeing as she was able to talk and have a good long conversation with people. It’s been a whole week already, and she felt as if she had known them s
As expected, he was back to work as if she had not just come some minutes ago to interrupt him and announce that food was ready. She shook her head, using her body to push the door close. The tray in her hand contained the food she had dished out for him for dinner. Slowly, she walked towards him, and when she saw that he was still bent over his desk, not looking at her, she shouted. “Get your hands off those papers, Gabriel, and come eat dinner.” She set the plate on the small table that was in front of the couch in his office. He looked up at her with a chuckle, before dropping his pen again and walking to her. “Well, let's see what dinner is.” He said. He didn’t care what dinner was, he just wanted to have her stay longer, and he would do everything he could think of to achieve that. Alex heaved a short sigh, being slow to give a response. She took off the napkin she covered the tray with and said. “Dinner is beef steak, rice with shrimp, and vegetable sauce. I brought cold iced
When Cara's car rolled into the driveway of Berkeley estate that morning, Alex smiled as she waited for her to get down from it. She didn’t have a clue what Cara wanted to see her about, but she had called her that she was coming over to see her for something important. Something important was pushed aside, she was glad to see her. It’s been a while since she had seen her, the last time being the time she came when her brother was here. That afternoon, after she had gone to see Gabe and talked with him, she had come back to see her in her room, but she had seemed different, she had acted strange all through her stay until she left. She had asked her to come out to meet her but she had a lot to do. Before Gabe left home, he had told her that he would be expecting some guests for dinner so she had to cook for a lot of people. Dee had promised to help, and she knew Cara would do. Finally, Cara came down and she walked to Alex, pulling her into a hug. “I miss you, girl. We really need
How did Alex deduce that from what she had said? Cara asked herself, but then, she realized that her fear was not misplaced totally with the way Gabe had been pushing her away like some jerk instead of explaining the situation. Shaking her head, she grabbed Alex's hands in her and turned to face her completely on the bed they sat on. “No, Alex, that’s not the case. He’s not rejecting you. If anything, I think he’s trying his best to be mated to you as well.” She said. “Then why is he pushing me away?” she asked. “Because, as he said, he doesn’t want to lose control with you. You see, there is so much you don’t know about being a werewolf, and that includes the fact that people who are not mated to their mate can’t live a complete life, a free and sweet life like they should. I’m sure Gabe won’t want to choose that over being with you and enjoying peace. He must have his reason for all of this. I know you like him a lot, so the least you can do for him is to try your best to underst
