The constant sound of some mechanical beep from somewhere around me begins to break me from the overwhelming darkness I found myself in. The longer I remained in that state, the more I began to slowly feel the world around me, it was as though I had lost control of my body but with each passing second, I was gaining the control back slightly. With that, other sounds from wherever it was that I found myself in began to sound, a tapping noise resembling a shoe tapping onto marble flooring was to the right of me. The distant noises of hustling and bustling seeming to sound from another room and what appeared to be the ticking from a clock. But what sort of brought me out even more was the pressure of a hand taking my arm, it wasn’t in a forceful way or even to move my arm, but someone holding me as though it would bring comfort. Knowing I wasn’t alone in whatever room I was in brought me much more comfort and spurred me on even more to wake myself if I was asleep. With that, I use
After a little more fussing from everyone around me, they all left to get some more sleep due to the late night they had all endured thanks to my little accident. This meant I was now sitting in my hospital bed all alone, the doctors had finally, taken all the monitors and drips out of my body so I was free to leave with strict instructions to take it easy. But such a task with the place I was being sent to rest was easier said than done, why did my father agree for me to stay with Alban? After our last interaction, I worried things would either turn violent again and in the state my body is in, I didn’t have it in me to fight him off or the opposite, he would try to have his way with me, and I wouldn’t have the strength to fight him off! “Mate would never hurt us! He was the one who saved us remember!” My wolf shouts in my mind furious, that I had once again put down Alban. Due to my wolf putting that in my brain, I did start to wonder why he saved me and how he even knew I was
After allowing some time for the pills to numb my pain slightly so I could move around, I sat right in the spot I was before but this time, my eyes dropping closed a little and my mind blank. I didn’t know why the medication had the effect on me, but it pulled me into such a drowsy state and even my wolf was put to sleep. “Ready to leave?” Alban asked getting up from his chair, the white bags of pills and the clothes I had arrived in balanced in one hand, I could see this meant he wanted to help me walk but even in my drowsy state, I didn’t want to accept the help. “I can manage.” I begin to mumble out placing my feet on the ground and standing up, but instantly, a tidal wave of dizziness takes over my senses and I began to stumble. Within a second, Alban had stepped forward and wrapped his arm around my waist catching me before I fell into the trolley full of medical supplies which sat next to the bed. A few drunken like giggles leave my lips as I’m pulled so my body was presse
The way Alban looked down at me with his own anger due to me telling him he was wrong, caused a ripple of fear to pulse through my body, even though I knew the truth, I couldn’t help but worry he wouldn’t believe me and begin to attack me where in my state, I wouldn’t be able to defend myself. “I know what I saw that night Iris, but not only that night, but five other nights prior, which is why I attacked him, I had witnessed enough of him touching what was mine.” He growled taking another dangerous step towards me where I could only roll my eyes. “Alright Alpha, tell me what you believed happened that night and all these other nights?” I said crossing my arms and titling my head to the side, where another growl left his lips as he placed his knee on the bed by my feet and began to slowly crawl over to me. “You and he decided to engage in the one sacred act that only I should engage with you, he touched you in areas where my fingers are the only ones to explore. He entered place
Jolting awake suddenly from my slumber, I sit up dripping in the largest beads of sweat I believe I have ever produced in all of my life. The thickest but warmest blanket I had ever seen draped over my body; my surroundings not familiar in the slightest. “Where am I?” My voice asks before my brain could tell it to, my entire body beginning to shake as the unfamiliarity of it all drove my emotions into haywire, as I went to turn to leave the bed, the sharp pain in my ribs gave me the rude reminder of what was happening. The memory of myself waking up in the hospital came to my mind, I still couldn’t remember how I managed to hurt myself but did recall how I took those pills from Alban. From my experience, I knew this meant I’ve been taken here by Alban and didn’t remember a thing, I hoped I didn’t say anything stupid or incriminating! Pulling the covers from my legs much slower than before, I take a hold of my ribs and slowly slide out of bed until my feet landed on the floor, my
After finishing the delicious bakes Alban had made for me, I start my journey back up the huge staircase and hoped I would be able to locate my bedroom. With ease, I find the door and push it open to the most beautiful room I was getting to stay in, it truly felt as though I was staying in some elegant hotel but in reality, it was only Albans house. Spotting a suitcase beside one of the many expensive looking chests of drawers, I walk over and begin to sort through what my mother had packed for me. Picking out a pair of blue jeans and a loose crewneck as to not restrict my ribs, I head towards the bathroom to hopefully wash the smell of hospital from my body and ease my ribs with the warm water. But after turning on the shower and stepping away to take my clothes off, I realise something, I was able to take my hoodie off due to how loose it was, but the top the hospital had dressed me in was so tight, I couldn’t lift my arms up high enough to take it off. Standing in the centre
Once I showered all the smell of the hospital from me, I walk back out in my towel and found Alban waiting on my bed for me. Without having to ask, he helps me into my clothes where I was able to keep the towel around my body so he wouldn’t see, he even helped me dry my hair so I wouldn’t catch a cold in the freezing weather. I was now sitting on the bed whilst he tied my shoes for me, where I couldn’t help looking down at him with a smile as he concentrated on tying my laces. I couldn’t quite believe I was sat in Alpha Albans house and was allowing him to help me get ready. If you would have told me this a few weeks ago, I’d either think you were lying or had lost a screw or two. But now watching him help me, I couldn’t help but begin to ask myself if accepting him as my mate would be the worst thing. I know the way he used to treat me and my friends for seemingly no reason was awful, but I couldn’t help but remember what Lincoln had told me the day I arrived here, so many people
Once Alban had checked with the guards to ensure the rouge was dead and order them to run some tests on it before feeding it to the hounds, he leads me back towards the pack house but this time, my hand remained wrapped around his arm. As soon as I stepped foot into the pack house, I was brought right back to when I was younger walking in here with friends. Nothing had changed, the walls were still the same colour, the photos were still placed on the same walls, heck I believe I even saw the same people sat in their armchairs. Whenever I thought of home when I was away, this is where I would picture myself walking through and would be filled with such immense joy. “Alpha! Did you manage to fill out the paperwork so my mate can enter the pack as a member?!” One man asked as soon as he spotted Alban, who didn’t seem too pleased as he led me deeper through the pack house. “I have not found time to do so, when I do, I’ll have the Beta deliver it to the pack.” He said dismissing the
~Five Years Later~ The air was warm, and the sun shone brightly as I climbed the steps of the pack house, after a freezing winter the pack could finally, open all its windows and start throwing out all the dust and debris that collected over the winter months. The first day of warmth was always my favourite, seeing everyone with huge smiles on their faces as they cleaned their homes and watching all the pack children running around playing without having to wear five layers. It’s days such as this I truly appreciate the pack that Alban and I have built over the years, there were days when it was hard but now to see how happy each member is, it makes all the hours of stress and worry worth it. “After you Luna.” A kind pack member smiles allowing me to walk through the double doors first, sending him a kind smile as a thank you, I enter the busy lobby which was as happy and bright as the atmosphere outside. The curtains were wide open allowing the warm natural sun and warmth to ra
As we traveled upstairs towards the second level, the hallways were dark and empty, each person had either taken refuge downstairs or were in the basement hiding out the battle. My mind focused on one thing, getting to Max’s room. He unlike Alban, liked to stay in the pack house, he said it was because he didn’t have the urge to move out until he started a family but deep down I knew, he felt as though he had even more power over his pack members even while they were sleeping. So, when the double doors of his bedroom right at the very end of the hall came into the view, the bright lights from his bedroom illuminated his doorframe. Alban’s hand held tightly onto mine as we drew closer to the door, my anger growing higher and higher with each step. Past memories I once held dear to my heart flashed through my mind like some old movie script, images of Max and I messing about as we walked these very halls in the mornings after I’d seen the hounds. The times he would drunkly hang from
The journey to The Full Moon Pack ran such ahead of schedule, I was a little shocked when the border and the two guards who I knew very well came into view. Taking a deep breath in to calm my nerves and fully immerse myself in the headspace I needed to be in, I stare ahead at the border with my mind on the objective, find and deal with Max. The guards seemed a little shocked as we draw closer to the border as though we would storm right through but just as we were about to enter, we all came to an abrupt halt standing right at the border. “State your purpose!” One of the men Issac shouted drawing his sword from his belt, his eyes staring at the men before they land on me sat on the hound. “Iris?” He asked in a state of shock that he was actually seeing me, where I was sure to send him a little smile, even though I was planning to attack, his cooperation will be more than vital. “Hello Issac, I believe you are more than aware of why I am here with my Alpha and men. The reign of
The next week seemed to be one of the fastest weeks in all my life, the next day Alban and I announced our engagement to my family who were overjoyed and then to the pack, who also seemed to share the same sentiment. Another huge party was thrown to celebrate us that night, even though everyone seemed happy, I would catch the slight glances of fear when a guard would watch past the perimeter. Due to the way the last party ended of my Luna ceremony, Alban didn’t want to take any chances especially, with what we were doing to Max as the days progressed, he updated the guards patrols, luckily the party went on without a hitch and everyone was able to have a well deserved, uninterrupted celebration. The day after didn’t give us any time to rest, Alban, Lincoln and I spend the entire day in his office going over the plans of the new invasion against Max, the men we believed would be perfect for the task, the position of the hounds and what the plan was after we took control. By the end
Once I was carried home on Alban’s shoulders, instead of putting me on the ground, I was placed to sit on top of the kitchen counter whilst he dealt with the little burn like wounds on my palm. To me they weren’t that bad, I had received many of these the first few times Russell and I were tasked with checking Max’s water, yes, they can sting but after a few days, they heal completely. But Alban wasn’t having any of it and insisted he put some ointment on them with a bandage just as a precaution. So, I sat silently watching as my Alpha mate delicately wrapped a little white bandage around my palm, this giving my mind time to wonder. Of course it drifted to what we had all just done, the fact that it was me who tipped that liquid in to start the process, even though I knew it was the right thing to do and Max deserved it, I kept asking myself what past me would have thought. That morning that I stood outside of my car loading all of my boxes in to head home, I didn’t know what scar
The race between Alban and I still held firm as we entered our pack’s territory, many times throughout that race, we were neck and neck as neither of us wanted to back down. The clearing we had declared would be the finishing line soon came into view, seeing the end in sight, it only pushed me to go even faster where I began to draw ahead of Alban, a fact I know he didn’t like. Just before I could reach the clearing, a playful bite is sent to my back leg causing me to trip a little, this giving Alban the upper hand who raced ahead and entered the clearing winning the race. A growl left my lips as I arrived beside him, where a happy howl left his own, but I was beyond annoyed. Walking behind a tree and shifting, I put my clothes on before walking back out where he too had shifted and stood there about to place his shirt on. “You’re a fucking cheat!” I shout striding closer to him with an anger filled look, whilst he only shrugged his shoulders throwing his shirt over one shoulder
With the tube still sitting in my hand with the liquid that would start this entire process, I felt as though I had so many things swirling around my head. It was my idea to do this and it’s something I knew needed to happen, but it was as though my body was frozen. What Max did to me more times than I know of was beyond awful, he took advantage when I could not only not fight him off but didn’t even know it was happening. He threw any care he felt towards me out of the window to get what he wanted; he deserved this. But that nagging voice inside of me asked if this was the correct way, maybe I should allow the W.M.O to take charge and deal with Max, but could I stand in that courtroom and give my testimony and hear him try to defend his actions? “He took away from us something which was only mates to take, allow mate to take his life as a consequence.” My wolf tells me in my mind after hearing the battle I was having, but her words seeming to spur me on. Holding my head up, I t
After going over the second half of my marvellous plan, all men agreed my approach would not only be the most successful but also, swift enough so the W.M.O will never be able to catch wind of it beforehand. Alban allowed Russell to use one of the packs labs where he was able to brew The Deadly Sleeping Drought in under an hour, the clear liquid soon placed in a thin glass test tube and in a protective bag so it wouldn’t spill. We all agreed that the quickest and stealthiest way for us to travel to The Full Moon Pack would be in wolf form, so around two hours after I had disclosed my amazing plan, we were all stood at the edge of the border with bags in our hands holding the spare clothes for us to wear so we wouldn’t have to walk around in the nude. “I’ve just realised, you haven’t seen me in wolf form yet, I had shifted while I was away and due to that stupid order, which should really be lifted by now, I haven’t been able to.” I smiled over to Alban as he dug through his bag
Walking into Alban’s office, he sat behind his desk with his leg bouncing in anger and impatience as he waited for me to return. Lincoln sat to the side of him seeming to read a bunch of maps that I had asked from him whilst Russell, sat off to the side seeming to jot down some information. “How did it go?” Alban asked as I closed the door behind me, all eyes seeming to move away from whatever the rest were doing as I stood in the middle of the room. “I sorted it, everything is being moved to a specific location where as soon as you’re ready, you can go see it all. No one held any malice towards what they were doing, yes, some people didn’t like Polly, and most were scared but she was still once this packs Luna. Your father and her did great things for this pack; people are grieving that side of things. People grieve in different ways, and none are the wrong way.” I smiled walking deeper into the room hoping to calm his anger down, he wasn’t doing this out of spite or true anger,
