Lyra's POV

I didn’t plan to ask the question.

It just… slipped.

But once it left my lips, the whole camp went quiet. Even the fire stopped crackling, like it was waiting, too.

“Who was the witch that helped us during the battle?”

Orion did not react.

He just gazed at the fire. Still. Silent. His hold on the bottle of wine tightened infinitesimally, though.

There was something in his eyes that eluded me. Pain, maybe. Or memory. Or both

"She's someone you all will meet soon," he whispered.

That was it. No name. No history. Nothing more.

Kira blinked. "So you're not going to say who she is?"

Orion sipped from the wine. "No."

Kate frowned. "Why not? She's the one who saved our lives. We have a right to know."

Lyra's POVShe didn’t say a word. But her eyes followed every step I took.Kira cleared her throat. “Pack healer. Alpha Ravenna,” she said to the table, her voice even.A few murmurs rippled through the room. Eyes shifted toward me. Some nods. Some stares. Some unreadable expressions.Orion’s gaze met mine. Just for a second. Then he looked back down at the file in front of him.Ruth broke the silence. “Oh. I didn’t know this meeting was open to the newly crowned.”Kira smiled politely. “Health mat

Lyra's POV“I had a flash,” I told Kira, my voice shaky. “A piece of Ravenna’s memory. I think I know who killed her mother.”Kira leaned in. “Who?”“It was Ruth,” I whispered. “She killed her. I saw it clearly. Ravenna was just a little girl, hiding in a corner. Watching. She saw everything.”Kira stared at me, wide-eyed. “Are you sure?”I nodded slowly. “But… what I don’t understand is, why didn’t Ravenna do anything about it? She must’ve remembered. There’s no way she could forget something like that.”Kira stood abruptly and began to pace. “You can’t te

Lyra's POVShe leaned forward and set the glass on her knee. "I mean, not Ruth. Your actual mother."My throat closed up. "I was told she died when I was a baby."Kate nodded slowly, but her gaze never wavered from my own. "That's what you were told. Do you remember anything from being a kid? Anything prior to Ruth?"I opened my mouth, but I couldn't speak.I didn't know. I couldn't know. I was never Ravenna to start with. But I couldn't tell her that."I… don't remember," I said cautiously, hoping that would suffice.Kate leaned forward, intrigued. "You're saying that you don't remember your childhood?"I shook my head, reluctantly. She frowned. "Not even one thing? That's not normal, Ravenna."My heart pounded. She went on, "If I didn't know you, I'd say someone deleted your memories."Something like a knife prodded behind my eyes.A flash.A scream.A mirror.A name I didn't know was yelling in my head. And then it was gone.I wheezed for air.I tried to keep a neutral expression,

Lyra's POVWe came down from the vehicle and headed straight to the mansion. Keto went in first, and I went in behind him.As soon as I stepped into the living room, the cold air from the Air conditioner hit my face. And then I saw her, Ruth, the woman who I believed had brought misfortunes to Ravenna since she was born, and now I seem to have inherited her troubles. She sat in the living room like she owned the place. Her legs crossed, arms resting neatly on the armrest, a cup of tea balanced in her hand. Her gaze landed on me like a knife. She

Lyra's POVKira gave me a pointed look. “He knows. I didn’t tell him, if that’s what you’re thinking. But he’s not stupid. He noticed something was off last night.”My stomach sank.Kate leaned back against the tree, arms crossed. “This is going to get complicated.”“It already is,” I muttered. They both went quiet, giving me space—but I could feel their eyes. Judging? Maybe. Or maybe just concerned.I hated this. The waiting. The silence. The feeling that no matter what I did, someone would get hurt. Before I could say anything else, a familiar engine sound rolled in through the trees.Keto.I stood up slowly, brushing dirt from my pants.Back to reality.Kira leaned closer to me with a small smile. “By the way… I was joking earlier.”I blinked at her. “What?”She shrugged. “Keto didn’t see anything last night. He was on watch the entire time. If he had noticed Orion sneaking into your tent, trust me, you’d know by now.”Kate raised an eyebrow. “Then maybe he suspected something. May

Lyra's POVMy heart lurched, expecting to see Orion. Only God knows what he’ll do this time around to Keto for kissing his mate. But it wasn’t Orion. It was Kate. Her braid swung as she cleared her throat. “Didn’t see you in your tent, Ravenna,” she said, her voice low but pointed. “Thought I’d check if you were with Keto.”I pulled away from Keto, my cheeks burning, “I was just leaving,” I said, too quickly, smoothing my dress as I stood.Keto’s hand brushed mine, but I didn’t dare look at him. “Good night, Keto.”
