Never regret

Ella snorted, trying not to cry.

“I'm sorry that there were times when I hurt you. But, this time, I decided that I wouldn't want to lose you."

With a hoarse voice, she said. “Can you say that word again?”

"I love you."

"Once again."

"I love you." David kissed her on the lips. “I think we should go home. Your father will be worried because we've been gone for so long."

“Yes.” Ella giggled, holding his hand.

After dinner, David and Ella went for a walk, watching the lights of the town at night. They came to a riverbank and walked together under the falling foliage.

"Ella, how long have we known each other?" David asked her. One hand he put in his pocket, the other he held her hand.

Ella felt a little strange with his sudden question. But she still answered. “Almost two years, right? Do you remember the first time we met?”

“Of course, I remember. The first time we met was in the hospital.” He looked up at the night sky.

“When you made that offer, I thought you were crazy.” Ella giggled.
