Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Cutie Kitty
Dylan's parents died in a car crash five years ago. His family business went bankrupt, and he was suddenly saddled with immense debt overnight.

He wasn't able to take the blow, so he swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, intending to follow his parents in death.

Just then, a system popped out of nowhere and told me that it could give me 100 million dollars and help Dylan regain his former glory from rock bottom. The only catch was that I had to make it a mission to register our marriage within the next five years.

If we failed to get married by the deadline, I would pay with my life.

At the time, I had a very close, intimate relationship with Dylan, and I thought my mission sounded simple enough. I couldn't possibly say no to free money and such an easy trade in my opinion, so I signed the contract with the system without any hesitation.

However, I never thought Dylan would frown when I proposed to him and brought up marriage.

"I have a marriage phobia. Please don't force me into doing this and give me some more time to think."

I panicked.

I worked my ass off during the day and went home to keep up with the household chores to make him feel secure and at ease. I barely talked to people of the opposite gender and even gave him all of my salary while remaining loyal, obedient, and submissive to him, listening to his every word.

However, he still couldn't make up his mind about marriage.

Just then, Lynette barged into our lives and brought up the whole "pre-marriage test" with him, saying that I would be able to marry him only if I passed all of them.

Ever since she suggested that, Dylan began to loosen up about the idea of marriage.

At first, I was grateful to Lynette for it. However, after experiencing her "tests" where she would just degrade and humiliate me and make sure that I never made it to the town hall for the registration, it finally all dawned on me.

Lynette wasn't helping me. She was simply making things hard for me on purpose.

I told Dylan, "Lynette's a malicious person. She's deliberately trying to sabotage our relationship."

However, Dylan would have none of that.

"She might have been wrong, but she's only doing this for our sake. You should be grateful and thank her instead of badmouthing her to me."

I looked into his cold eyes and realized that Dylan had had a change of heart.

But I didn't have the time to get mad at him. I felt the threat of death knocking at my door, and it was making it hard for me to breathe.

I dropped to my knees before him and begged in a pitiful voice, "Dylan, I signed a deal with a system to help you regain your glory. I will die if I don't successfully register our marriage within five years.

"I don't care what you do with Lynette after the marriage. I'm just begging for you to give me a way out of this and let me live!"

Dylan was beyond touched when he heard what I said. His tone softened.

"You're mistaken. Lynette and I are only regular colleagues. Also, everything I'm doing is for the company and for our home. I will never marry anyone other than you.

"You don't have to worry about anything, Felicia. I will definitely still make it even if they threaten me with a knife!"

I felt relieved after getting his verbal promise. I even purposely requested a day off work and arrived at the town hall bright and early.

But after waiting eagerly all day, from dawn to dusk, the only response I got was news that he had registered his marriage with Lynette instead.

I watched the countdown clock ticking away before my eyes and felt like my entire life had been nothing but a sick joke.

The love that I'd sought after so hard and so bitterly was just as much of a joke as it was for my life.

I composed myself and stopped myself from overthinking. Instead, I pulled out my phone and made a call.

As I lay dying, the only person I wanted to properly say goodbye to was my younger brother, Felix Cooper, who was studying in Alborough, a different city.

I was still hesitating, struggling to string my words together to tactfully tell him that I was dying.

However, when the call finally connected, I heard another man's angry voice on the line instead.

"You're Felix's sister? Really? And I thought all the rest of his family were already dead!"

Troy dragged the dazed Dylan to the funeral parlor. I went along with them, and that was when I saw Felix's slightly purple body.I choked up.I couldn't focus on anything else anymore. Felix was so, so thin and scrawny. I once told him to eat a little more to bulk up, but he kept smiling back at me and saying, "It's fine. I'm on a diet, Felicia. You don't know anything about this."Now, he was lying before me, but he wasn't ever going to speak to me again.Dylan stumbled and fell to the ground, crying before the body until he eventually passed out. When he woke up, he frantically called me again, and the hospital picked up with the same message.I was dead.Dylan roared angrily into the receiver, "Her own brother is dead, and she's still trying to play dead with me?"The nurse on the other end of the line was at a loss for words."Felicia Cooper is really dead. None of us is lying to you. You should hurry over and claim her body as soon as you can. It costs money to keep the

Dylan hung up after that. Then, he grabbed Lynette's hand and went on the beach trip with her.The hospital kept calling again and again in the meantime, even issuing my death certificate to him, but he still refused to believe it. He firmly believed that I'd somehow managed to bribe the whole hospital to put on an act just to deceive him.He refused to believe any of the documentation either. He told himself that he wasn't going to fall for any of my tricks. In fact, he even tried to bait me into reaching out to him first by sending me tons of photos and videos of him and Lynette at the beach, just to spite me. He wanted to see me go mad with jealousy and stop playing dead with him.Well, unfortunately for him, I really was dead, so I wasn't able to fulfill any of his wishes. After the entire day passed, Dylan got bored and tired of waiting and casually said, "Felicia's brother is attending college in this city. I should go and visit him since we're here."Everything aside, it's

Dylan was a very light sleeper, and he would struggle with insomnia if he slept in a foreign bed that wasn't his own. So, he couldn't have possibly spent his nights at the office as he claimed.I used to worry about him working too hard, thinking his body couldn't handle it. So, I worked even harder than before to earn more money for him, hoping to help him shoulder some of his stress. But now, I just found out that he hadn't been working overtime at the company at all.He had just been sleeping over at his second "home".He was a clean freak and a germaphobe. He didn't just change out of his bloodied clothes. He even took a shower.Soon, he came out of the shower with a head of wet hair, awkwardly taking the towel from Lynette and saying, "Sorry. I'll try not to come over as often next time."A hint of disappointment appeared in her eyes. She sighed and said, "You're being too courteous with me if you say that, Dylan. "After all, you're the one who bought this mansion for me.

Not long after, I heard the sound of the ambulance's siren. Dylan, who'd just walked out ahead, suddenly stopped in his tracks."What's wrong?" Lynette asked patiently when she saw him stopping. The ambulance sirens grew closer and closer, and Dylan began to feel unnerved."I was the one who called the ambulance. Maybe we should just go back and take a look. It's not like her not to run out after us after such a long time. I'm wondering if she actually did pass out after all."She looked quite weak just three days ago. She fell to the floor after a mere slap from me. I'm just worried that something might be wrong with her body. I'll only feel at ease after taking her to the hospital to have her body checked."Dylan then prepared to turn back. Lynette nodded and said, "That's right. I know you promised me that you'd bring me to the beach, but that's not important. Felicia is of utmost priority now."It's no wonder that she would always fake illness with you. As it turns out, she's

Lynette continued, "But now, I have to speak the truth to protect my innocence."When Dylan heard that, his sadness suddenly turned into a stunned silence. His emotions subsided somewhat, but he still looked at Lynette suspiciously, like he was trying to confirm with her again."Really? You mean Felicia's just pretending to have fainted? How could you tell?"She pointed at my corpse and laughed bitterly."She's not even involved in a car accident, and she doesn't have any external injuries either, so why is she completely covered in blood? Isn't she just exaggerating things?"I knew the moment I looked at her that she was just trying to mimic something from a TV show to give you a scare."Dylan immediately came to his senses. He looked at Lynette apologetically for "misunderstanding" her earlier. Then, he took out all of his anger on me, brutally kicking my corpse and chiding, "I told you to stop watching those stupid TV shows and dramas! What the hell is wrong with you, coming

My body suddenly felt very light.I turned around and saw my body lying on the ground, completely bound hand and foot. Blood had spilled forth from every orifice on my face, making me a blood-soaked mess.I looked exactly like a corpse from a horror movie. It was simply horrifying.Dylan got a huge fright. Then, he covered his mouth in shock when he saw my gruesome state, stumbling backward by a few steps."How could this be? How could you be dead…"Tears shone in his eyes. Seconds later, he ran up to me and cradled my face in his hands before hugging me tightly. He was severely germaphobic, but his pristine white shirt was now drenched in my blood as well, and he didn't even seem to notice it.He hurriedly took out his phone and called the ambulance at once."Hello? Someone just fainted here! She's completely covered in blood! The address is…"I stared at the panic in his eyes and felt utterly confused. Didn't he like Lynette? Shouldn't he have been absolutely delighted to se
