Chapter 3

Author: Beloved Farewell
Felix burst out laughing. "Looks like the lesson I taught you wasn't enough."

Suppressing my anger, I held out the shipping box containing the bangle, giving him one last chance. "I'm asking you one last time—are you sure that even if the mistake is on your end and you sent the wrong item, you still won't accept a return?"

Felix didn't even glance at the box. Instead, he pulled up the product details page on his phone and pointed at a line of tiny text at the very bottom.

"You fool, can't you read?" he mocked. "No returns or exchanges once the package is opened."

He looked utterly smug, completely convinced he was in the right. "You didn't bother reading the policy, and that's on you. I'm the seller, so I get the final word. If you don't like it, go ahead and sue me."

Only then did I notice the minuscule print hidden in the bottom corner of the page.

"Items that have been delivered and opened are deemed satisfactory and are not eligible for our seven-day unconditional return policy."

Most people would miss it entirely unless they were looking for it. The shop had been setting traps for customers from the very beginning. Who knew how many people they had already cheated with this rule?

The sheer arrogance on Felix's face made my blood boil. My hand shook as I clutched the phone.

He, however, looked me up and down, the contempt in his eyes completely undisguised. The more he spoke, the more riled up he became.

"Look at you, a broke loser covered head to toe in cheap Temu clothes. Can you even afford a lawyer? I've met plenty of people like you, always looking to scam a quick buck. You saw my shop sells gold and figured you'd try to shake me down for a big payout!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, unrestrained snickering erupted from the onlookers.

An older woman couldn't help but step forward and reprimand me. "You seem like a nice young lady, but here you are trying to rip people off. You think money just falls from the sky for business owners? Aren't you afraid of karma catching up with you?"

The rest of the crowd chimed in, one after another condemning me.

The anger I had been forcing down instantly exploded.

"Very well then." I slowly withdrew my hand and saved the recording I had just made on my phone. "I will respect your store policy."

Felix saw what I was doing and let out a scoff. Then, he pulled out his own phone and started recording me.

"Hey, everyone, come take a look! This is the broke loser who tried to scam free stuff from my shop. And guess what? I busted her on the spot!"

He shoved the camera lens right into my face. When I tried to push it away, he suddenly reached out, grabbed my collar, and aggressively yanked it, ripping a large tear in my clothes.

"Your whole outfit doesn't even add up to 100 dollars, and you think you can shake me down? If you keep stirring up trouble here, don't blame me for calling the cops and having you reported for harassment."

He shot a meaningful glance at the two tall, burly male assistants.

The pair didn't need to be told twice. They came at me from both sides and seized my arms, lifting me off the ground like I was nothing but a chicken ready for the pot.

"Get out now! Don't dirty our floor!"

I struggled desperately but couldn't break free at all. Disheveled and humiliated, I was violently shoved out the door and fell awkwardly onto the concrete. My elbow hit the concrete hard, sending a searing pain shooting up my arm immediately.

Every passerby stopped to stare at me like I was a public spectacle.

Felix and his assistants stood at the entrance, looking down at me condescendingly.

"Take your fake goods and get lost. If you dare come back looking for trouble again, becoming famous online will be the least of your worries."

He spat at me before turning around and slamming the door shut.

I clutched the heavy shipping box tightly against my chest, a mixture of intense humiliation and burning rage churning inside me.

Fine. He was the one who refused to take it back!

Silently, I pushed myself up and walked straight into the jewelry store next door.

As soon as I entered, a shop assistant greeted me politely.

"Hello, I'd like to have this bangle tested and weighed, please."

The shop assistant put on a pair of white gloves before carefully accepting the bangle. Then, she placed it on a professional electronic scale.

"Ma'am, your bangle weighs exactly two ounces." She then ran it through a testing instrument. "It's solid gold. At today's market rate, you're looking at a cash-in value of about eight thousand dollars."

I looked down at my phone—at that line of tiny text at the very bottom of Felix's product details page.

"No returns or exchanges once the package is opened."

My gaze gradually turned ice-cold.

Since Felix was so adamant about his store policy, I was more than happy to show him what "no returns or exchanges" really meant.

I looked at Elly and said emphatically, "Mrs. Proctor, as far as I know, you don't have a job. So, where did these 200 thousand dollars come from? It's dirty money too, isn't it?"If I were to take this money today, I'd be betraying the version of myself you knocked to the ground and mercilessly cyberbullied."My lawyer, Warren Cowan, walked over and handed me a document. "Ms. Flynn, what would you like to claim in terms of damages?"I took the document and outlined two conditions to Warren."One, I want the brand—meaning Robert's company—to fully cooperate with the police investigation. They will make public all evidence of his counterfeiting, fraudulent sales, and gold skimming, and he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."Two, on top of the compensation mandated by the authorities, I want an official apology pinned to the top of their corporate social media accounts for an entire month."Felix, desperate for a lighter sentence, spilled every last secret he knew

Under the bewildered stares of Robert and Felix, I slowly reached into my breast pocket and pulled out another phone. The screen clearly showed it was livestreaming.I looked straight into the camera and said calmly, "Well, folks—did everyone catch all that? This is their idea of 'talking things out.'"The cigarette slipped from Robert's fingers and landed on the floor with a faint thud. Every drop of color drained from his face. His lips trembled as he pointed a shaking finger at my phone, but not a single word came out.It had just hit him. Those threats he had made against my parents had already been broadcast to over a million people."Y-You wouldn't dare!" He lunged at me like a man possessed, desperate to snatch the phone from my hand.I took a step back, keeping the camera trained steadily on his rage-contorted face."Robert, did you really think this was some lawless place where you could do whatever you wanted?"The live chat erupted into absolute chaos."Holy shit! Those bastards just put you on blast again!"I clicked the link she sent."Unmasking Tasha Flynn—A Career Scammer Preying on Small Businesses with Vicious Tactics!"In the video, I was painted as a calculating, cold-hearted villain. Then, once I had what I wanted, I weaponized public opinion to destroy a small business the owner had spent over a decade building. My full name, phone number, and even my company's address were posted online, every detail listed with chilling accuracy. "You stupid bitch! This is all your fault!" Felix roared.I was already braced for it. The instant he lunged at me, I caught his arm, pivoted, and threw him over my shoulder in one clean motion, slamming him onto the ground outside my door.Felix let out a howl of pain, writhing on the ground. I stared down at him coldly, then shut the door with a resounding bang. Through the door, I could still hear Felix and Robert raging and shouting frantic threats. "Tasha, just you wait! This isn't over!"I leaned back against the door, listening to their curses fade down the hallway, and smirked. Not over? Fine by me. I'd see this through with them to the bitter end.I pulled up Temu on my phone and found the listing for their ten-dollar fake gold bangle. Then, I immediately placed an order for a hundred of them. After that, I took the appraisal certificate with its raised embossed seal and placed it side-by-side with the heavy, solid gold bangle. I snapped high-definition photos from

Robert had threatened me from the get-go, yet he completely ignored Felix standing right there, cursing and threatening me. Clearly, those two were in cahoots. The police officers frowned at me."Ms. Flynn, we received a report alleging you're in possession of property that doesn't belong to you. We ask that you cooperate as we look into the matter."Felix immediately played the victim. "Officers, she's just trying to get away with it! Arrest her now! She took our nine-thousand-dollar gold bangle and refuses to return it! This is fraud!"Under the weight of everyone's gaze, I calmly pulled out my phone and the fake bangle I'd just bought."Officers, here are my order screenshots and a payment record of ten dollars. What I bought was an alloy bangle, and everything is above board. So, tell me, how exactly am I scamming anyone?"Felix snatched the bangle and examined it carefully. Upon discovering that it was indeed a fake, he hurled it onto the floor. "You must've hidden the rea

I had the jewelry store shop assistant issue an official appraisal certificate for me. Then, I opened Temu and placed a new order for a ten-dollar gold-plated bangle. This time, I specifically paid for expedited local shipping. As soon as the gold-plated bangle arrived, I tucked the real gold bangle away in a secure spot and placed the cheap fake inside the original shipping box. Everything was perfectly in place. All I had to do now was wait. The next morning, my phone rang as expected. On the other end of the line, Felix was clearly trying to suppress his anger, though his tone still carried that insufferable, condescending air. "Hey, you're that buyer from yesterday, right? Listen, we made a mistake. The item we sent you was actually a real gold bangle. Bring it back to the store immediately, you hear me?"It didn't sound like a request; it was a blatant command. I feigned utter confusion. "Oh, really? But what I received was just a ten-dollar gold-plated bangle. The craf
