Chapter 6: Warm Blanket

I woke up with a warm blanket wrapped around my body. I was still on the floor where I sat last night but I didn’t remember getting a blanket. I was afraid Lucian would get angry if I touched his things.

I blinked twice before my eyes flew to the bed. The sheets were unkempt but I didn’t see him. I scanned the whole room and still, I found no traces of Lucian. Maybe he’s in the bathroom? Or in the closet?

A sigh escaped my lips as I stayed in my position, scared of doing a little mistake. My life wasn’t good when Dad was still leading the pack, but I didn’t think it could get any worse. I was used to being mistreated but being a slave was a whole different thing.

Things couldn’t be undone, though. All I can do is to keep surviving, at least for my young nephew.

Thinking about Rafi… Lucian mustn’t have tortured him, right? He is just a kid. Even if he’s the son of my brother, Jonas, I don’t think he and his people will kill an innocent child.
