Chapter 1

Tiffany Bastion removed the mask and demanded, "Why are you throwing a fit, Nathan Heaton? Why are you threatening to call off the wedding? What do you take me for?"

"You're the one who said that you'll call off the wedding if you can't even identify your own husband with just your touch," I retorted.

Tiffany was briefly stunned before she started laughing. "Oh, I see. You're jealous. Okay, that's enough. It's just a game. Besides, you and Justin grew up together. It's not like he's a stranger."

A stranger, huh?

In the past, when Tiffany lost a game of Truth or Dare, she and Justin Winston fed each other alcohol right in front of me.

During her bachelorette party, she slept in the same bed as Justin after exhausting herself from celebrating too much.

Tiffany would always use the same damned excuse that Justin wasn't a stranger to smooth things over whenever I confronted her about her behavior.

Even today, during such an important occasion, she trampled all over my reputation in front of my friends and family. She even had the nerve to ask me to forget what I had seen.

It was preposterous!

I scoffed. "You touched everyone else, but Justin was the only one whom you immediately identified as your husband after you touched him. I'm guessing that you're already intimately familiar with the shape of his body. That's why you accidentally let the truth slip out."

"I'm not," Tiffany said, her eyes reddening as she shook her head.

Justin, who had remained silent the entire time, stepped forward and pulled Tiffany behind him.

"Why are you slandering your fiancee like this, Nate? I can pretend that I didn't hear what you just said, so stop being so stubborn."

He offered the bouquet back to me and continued, "Why don't we discuss this later after the wedding? Let's not delay the ceremony any longer."

I didn't take the bouquet and let it fall to the floor, causing the petals to scatter everywhere.

My tone was as cold as ice when I stared into Justin's bewildered eyes and hissed, "I'm being stubborn? The rest of the groomsmen remained in their spots. You're the only one who took off your shirt and approached her.

"Were you trying to help her identify her husband, Justin? Or were you trying to get her to admit that you're her husband?"

Justin couldn't keep the smile on his face upon hearing my words.

"Watch your tongue, Nate."

I ripped off my boutonniere, then flung it to the floor and ground it under my shoe.

"I had 18 potential marriage partners at the time. All of them were esteemed heiresses of their respective families. However, among the choices available to me, I chose Tiffany Bastion, an heiress whose family was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.

"In the last six months since we became engaged, I invested no less than one billion dollars into Bastion Group and forcefully dragged her family back into the circle of elites of this city.

"I didn't spend so much time and money just for you to anger me. Tiffany, you just claimed that Justin was your husband. Fine then. Be sure to look for him whenever the Bastion family needs investments in the future."

Tiffany's parents immediately panicked upon hearing my words.

"It's Tiffany's first time getting married. She just said the wrong thing because she was too nervous. You're a magnanimous man, Nate. I hope you don't hold this against her."

Tiffany bit her lip when she noticed that I wasn't moved. A long moment passed before she lowered her head and said, "I acted out of line earlier, Nate. Why don't you tell me what you want? I'll agree to anything that you ask of me."

I stared at the message for a long time before I replied, "Okay."I then switched off my phone and headed upstairs to shower and turn in for the night.…My mind was still hazy with sleep when I was jolted awake by a loud noise coming from downstairs. When I peered down the stairs, I realized that the source of the noise was Justin. It was obvious that he was drunk. He had somehow scaled the walls around the garden and crawled into the compound, trampling all over the flowers that were meticulously cared for by the household staff.Justin waved the wine bottle in his hand in the air, causing a loud ruckus."Show yourself, Nathan Heaton! How can you sleep when you ruined me? Come out and face me in a battle to the death if you have the guts!"I grabbed my coat before descending the stairs.Worry was written all across the butler's face as he approached me."We're at our wits' end, Mr. Heaton. We were worried that Mr. Winston would hurt himself if we tried to surround him.""H

I stared at Tiffany's face for a long time before I suddenly burst into laughter."You don't have to apologize to me, Tiffany. I planned everything from the very beginning."Tiffany was stunned. "What did you say?""I ordered my men to investigate Justin when the two of you fed alcohol to each other that day. His company was in the red, and he needed an astronomical sum to pay off his debts."He didn't target you because he liked you. He targeted you because you were my fiancee. He thought that by marrying you, he could blackmail me and get the money that he needed from the Heaton family."I'm the one who ordered my assistant to leak the news to Mom during the wedding. I even made sure to embellish and exaggerate the story. That's why Mom froze all of Justin's cards in a fit of anger."But Justin has been part of the business circle for a long time. He has his own connections, so I made sure to spread the word that I planned to exterminate him from the industry beforehand."I to

Tiffany chased after me. Her eyes were glistening with tears when she grabbed my arm and asked, "Did you already know that something was going on between Justin and me a long time ago, Nathan?"I didn't deny her assumption.Truth be told, I didn't know for sure, but I did have a gut feeling. It was just that I didn't want to get involved in the past. After all, Tiffany and I were just engaged at the time. I didn't have the right to interfere with her regular social interactions. They were the ones who kept testing my limits over and over again.Tiffany assumed that she still had a chance when I remained silent."I've truly learned my lesson, Nathan. Please forgive me this one time," she begged pathetically. "I promise that I'll never do anything that will hurt you ever again."Mom and Dad only see me as a disposable pawn. I can't go back to the Bastion family. As for that bastard, Justin, I've seen his true colors now. You're the only one I have left."I coldly retracted my ar

"You already got your hands on the evidence a long time ago, didn't you, Nathan?" Justin asked. "You just bided your time until the wedding ceremony to reveal them. You just wanted to humiliate Tiffany, didn't you?"You Heatons are all the same. All of you are rotten to the core. After Dad sacrificed his life to save your father, he claimed that he wanted to show his gratitude by letting me live in the Heaton residence. In reality, everyone treated me as if I were part of the household staff."When you celebrate your birthday, you get gifts like branded watches and luxury cars. When it's my birthday, all I get are reminders that I need to be grateful after I grow up."But why do I have to be grateful? Should I be grateful that the Heaton family fed me because they treated me as a charity case? Or should I be grateful because they took care of me like a pet dog for so many years?"A deep and steady voice resounded from the entrance of the hall the moment the words left Justin's lips

The recording showed the interior of a karaoke room.Although both parties' faces were obscured, anyone could tell that one of the voices belonged to Justin.Justin had gone behind everyone's backs and contacted Bastion Group's rival company. He had planned to work with them to acquire the Bastion Group shares in my possession."I've already handled the elders of the Bastion family," Justin said arrogantly in the video. "Once everything is done, you'll transfer the shares to me. In return, I'll give you the plot of land that Bastion Group owns in Westfield."Tiffany became deathly pale upon hearing his words. She rushed toward Justin and grabbed a fistful of his collar."Tell me! Is this real? Who the hell do you think you are? What makes you think that you have the right to decide what to do with the plot of land in Westfield?"It was well known that when the Bastion Group first became embroiled in a financial crisis, they were relentlessly attacked by their competitors and were

I barked out an indignant laugh. The wedding venue was in the busiest area of the city. If one wanted to rent it for a day, they had to be prepared to fork out enough money to cover the seven-digit bill.On top of that, I had placed custom orders to secure the highest-quality decorations for the hall and the best catering for the guests. It seemed that Justin and Tiffany had given up on their act. Instead, they were planning to host a grand wedding ceremony for themselves on my dime without spending a single penny of their own.Just then, the host's voice echoed from within the hall."Now, let us welcome our newlyweds to the stage!"I kicked the door open and strode into the hall among the guests' thunderous applause.Tiffany's eyes instantly widened when she spotted me from where she was standing on the stage."What are you doing here, Nathan?"I scoffed before grabbing one of the glasses from the bottom row of the champagne tower that was next to me.In the next second, doz
