Chapter 38 I’M Coming with You

“Please don’t say that.” Courteously, Wu Heping responded.

“Ms. Lin, you’re being too polite. I didn’t know you’re connected to Mr. Lu. It’s all a misunderstanding, haha!”

“Mr. Lu?” Lin Wan was confused.

“I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about. I’m not connected to anybody.”

“Isn’t Lu Fangliang your friend?” Surprised, Wu Heping asked.

Lu Fangliang? Lin Wan tried to pull her memory back. It took her a while to remember that Lu Fangliang was Jaixue’s father.

Judging from what Wu Heping said earlier, it seemed that Lu Fangliang was involved in her being rehired. Instantly, a feeling of displeasure washed over her, and she regretted her decision.

Li Mu was right. There was something more going on.

She never liked owing other people favors, especially unnecessary ones. If she had known that something was wrong, she would have listened to Li Mu, stayed at home and enjoy her life as a full0time housewife.

As mentioned, she treated her job as dispensable. She would rather quit if she were going to owe Lu Fangliang a favor.

Studying her expression, Wu Heping could see that Lin Wan was unaware of what happened. He could not help but feel confused.

“Ms. Lin, don’t you know what happened?” Cautiously, Wu Heping asked.

“What do you mean?” Lin Wan asked in return.

“It’s nothing. Forgive me for asking, but you and Mr. Lu...”

“He’s my student’s father, and I only met him twice. We barely know each other.” Truthfully, Lin Wan answered.

She disdained jockeying for position using Fangliang’s power. Not only he was a widower, but he was also her student’s father. Of course, she did not want anything to do with him.

Upon hearing her words, Wu Heping heaved a sigh of relief.

He was once thought that Lin Wan was Fangliang’s girlfriend, so he secretly scolded her for cheating on her husband and acting innocent in front of him.

Who knew that Lin Wan would deny their relationship? It seemed like Fangliang was just messing around with him.

As Wu Heping looked at Lin Wan’s slender figure, a thought flashed across his mind, and he figured out something.

He wondered if Fangliang had his eyes on Lin Wan and was trying to woo her. He thought he wasted his time scolding Lin Wan.

Moments later, Lin Wan got up and said, “Mr. Wu, if there’s nothing else, I’ll make a move first.”

“Sure. Go ahead. We’ll catch up later!”

After sending Lin Wan off, he sat back on his seat and began to think of weird ideas.

Since Lin Wan and Fang Liang were not in a relationship, he should not let her go easily. He had to come up with a way to get her laid, take some pictures or videos, and keep it in his back pocket.

If she ever disobeyed him, he could use the videos to threaten her.

Thinking of that, he let out a meaningful smile.

Right after Lin Wan exited Wu Heping’s office, she went straight to Ms. Tian’s class and called her out. Ms. Tian complained, “What’s the emergency? Can’t we talk after my class?”

“Did you ask Lu Fangliang to speak for me?” Aggressively, Lin Wan questioned her.

Knowing that Lin Was discontented, Ms. Tian did not dare to tell her the truth. Softly, she said, “Well, I told him about you getting fired, but I didn’t ask him to speak up for you. What’s wrong? Is Mr. Lu the reason why you got rehired?”

“Are you sure you don’t know anything?”

“Oh, come on. I must explain to him why you had to stop teaching her daughter. I don’t know what he did after that!”

Hearing that, Lin Wan relaxed. What Ms. Tian said was reasonable. It seemed like she really misunderstood her.

Quickly, Ms. Tian uttered, “Stop imagining things. Maybe Mr. Lu wants to help you out. You should be grateful.”

“I don’t need him to help me out. He doesn’t have to do such unnecessary stuff for me. Fine, you should go back to class. I’ll make a move first!”

With that, Lin Wan walked away without looking back. Looking at her back, Ms. Tian shook her head thoughtfully.

She could see that Lin Wan was not fond of Fangliang. Lin Wan should thank him for helping her get her job back.

However, she did not appreciate his help at all. Instead, she reprimanded him as though she despised him meddling in her business.

This showed that she did not care about being laid off, and she had no feelings for Fangliang at all.

Being a woman herself, she understood how Lin Wan felt. If she had no feelings for Fangliang, she would despise everything he did.

Things had been peaceful for a while. Wu Heping stopped picking on Lin Wan. Instead, he showered her with praises and flattered her nonstop.

As usual, Lin Wan ignored him. Being a person who had met all sorts of persons, she could see through his mind easily. She simply wanted him to leave her alone.

Lin Wan and Li Mu were having dinner when he told her that he would be away for a business trip the next few days.

At first, Lin Wan did not care much. After all, she was used to Li Mu going on business trips.

After dinner, she began to pack his suitcase, “How long will you be away?”

“I’m not sure. I have to go there to submit an offer. Probably about a week.”

“Are you going alone?”

“Of course not. How can I handle all the jobs by myself? My team is going with me.”

Suddenly, a thought ran through Lin Wan’s mind, and her movements slowed down. After a moment, she asked casually, “He Xiaoyu is going too, right?”

Obviously, Li Mu looked a bit nervous. After pausing for a moment, he answered, “No.”

Immediately, Lin Wan knew he was lying. He might be going with Xiaoyu alone.

“You’re so lucky. You can use the company’s money to travel everywhere. Unlike me, I’m always stuck at home. I don’t even get the chance to go on holidays.”

Lin Wan started tricking him. Indeed, he fell into her trap. Grinning, he said, “I’m going there to work, not to play around. Who asked you to go back to work? Otherwise, you can follow me on my business trip.”

“Come on. Stop talking nonsense. There’s no way I can simply follow you there!”

“I’m not lying. Nobody will know if you come with me. We’ll pay for your expenses, so we won’t be touching the company’s money. Of course, you can follow me there.”

“Are you sure you’re allowed to do that? What if someone finds out? Have anybody in your company did that before?” Pretending to be curious, Lin Wan asked.

“I’m sure no one will say anything. It’s actually an open secret. We’re not taking advantage of the company anyways. Everybody does that.”

“Alright then!” Lin Wan took out the luggage from the cupboard before saying to Li Mu, “I’m coming with you. Help me book a ticket!”

Hearing Lin Wan’s words, Li Mu was stunned.

“What... What do you mean?”

“I’m coming with you. Don’t worry. I won’t bother you when you’re working. I just want to accompany you to your business trip.” Lin Wan answered.

“Don’t you have to go to work?”

“I’ve already covered all the syllabus. There are only a few practical lessons left. Moreover, music is not a main subject. It’s fine to take a few days off. I’ll be resigning soon anyway. It doesn’t really matter.”

“Oh, I see...” Li Mu did not know how to answer his wife.

“What’s wrong? Don’t you want me to come with you?”

“It’s not like that. But my colleagues are coming as well. I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to come with me.” Li Mu wanted to try convincing her.

“I’m sure Xiaoyu will be there too. You don’t have to lie to me. I know she’s going. Go ahead then. I don’t want to interrupt you guys!”

Instantly, Lin Wan’s face turned cold. She was staring at Li Mu with a murderous gaze.

“Okay! You can come with me!” Without hesitation, Li Mu exclaimed, “Make sure you come!”

He Xiaoyu called Zhou Zijian and informed him that Li Mu would be away for a business trip for one week. She wanted him to keep an eye on Lin Wan and try to find evidences of her cheating on Li Mu within this period of time.

This was a good chance for Lin Wan to meet up with another guy. At once, Zhou Zijian agreed to He Xiaoyu’s plan.

On the day when Li Mu was leaving for his business trip, Zijian waited outside their house. He was already prepared to stalk Lin Wan the whole day. He had a feeling that Lin Wan would make a move.

At eight in the morning, Lin Wan appeared with Li Mu. Both of them were carrying and luggage, and they hailed a cab. Judging by the direction of where the cab was going, it seemed like they were heading to the airport.

Zhou Zijian thought Lin Wan was sending Li Mu off, so he followed them to the airport.

However, both Lin Wan and Xiaoyu met at the airport. After confronting each other for some time, three of them got through the security screening.

Zhou Zijian was utterly confused.

It was only then that he realized Lin Wan was going to board the plane with Li Mu! Why did he waste his time following after them? Not to mention he could not even board the plane without a ticket!

Hurriedly, he called He Xiaoyu, wanting to find out what happened.

“What’s wrong?!” He Xiaoyu sounded angry across the phone.

“Miss, I believe you know that Lin Wan had already got past the security check.”

“Yes. I’ll contact you again when she comes back. I’ll call you later!” No doubt, He Xiaoyu was discontented.

“Miss, what exactly is happening? Why is she going with you all?” Zhou Zijian asked curiously.

“How am I supposed to know that? I’m hanging up now!”

Impatiently, He Xiaoyu hung up and walked to the waiting lounge. She saw Lin Wan holding Li Mu’s arm as they chatted away happily, looking as though they were going on a honeymoon.

She was supposed to be Li Mu’s assistant, but now she looked like a third wheel!

“Li Mu, you got a lot of nerve to bring your wife along on a business trip!”

Xiaoyu tried to hold back her emotions, but failed to do so in the end.

Hearing He Xiaoyu’s words, Li Mu felt awkward. Although it was a normal phenomenon for his colleagues to bring their family along on their business trips, it only happened when they were alone. Nobody ever behaved so blatantly like him.

Although he was close to He Xiaoyu, he should not have acted so brazenly. In fact, he was misusing his power.
