Chapter 2

Author: Moore
Eric hugged me from behind. His voice was trembling.

I quietly ended the call and tried to answer him as calmly as possible, "The travel agency said our post-wedding honeymoon needs to be rescheduled."

Eric was greatly relieved. "Oh, that's right. You promised to be with me forever. You wouldn't leave me."

After that, he hugged me tightly again out of guilt. "Don't worry. Once Naomi's mom is reassured, I'll give you an even bigger wedding."

I quietly looked at the documents in his hand. He had suddenly come back to get his identification papers.

Eric pulled his hand back uncomfortably when he noticed what I was staring at. "Naomi's mom won't be able to feel relieved if she doesn't see our marriage certificate. Don't overthink this, Ayla. When the time comes, I'll divorce her."

I held my breath. It was painful to hear what he said. He had promised that I was the only woman he would marry. Yet, he was getting married to another the next moment. Even though I had decided to leave him, it still felt painful to me.

Before I could say anything, Naomi rushed in. She squeezed between both of us.

Naomi forced herself between us and even secretly tried to push me further away. I stumbled from her push and fell. She took the opportunity to fall into Eric's arms. She looked at him with tears streaming down her face.

"Eric, my mom's condition just got worse. She's refusing the surgery unless we show her our marriage certificate."

Her words made Eric anxious. "Why is she refusing surgery when her condition is so serious?"

He grabbed Naomi's hand and walked toward the door, but he suddenly stopped. He looked back at me awkwardly.

"You've seen it for yourself, Ayla. Naomi's mom's situation is an emergency. We need to get our marriage certificate to soothe her for now. You understand it, right?"

Naomi ran toward me while stumbling. Her voice sounded pitiful. "Ayla, please help me fulfill my mom's wishes. Let her witness my wedding before she dies!"

She was crying while looking frail as she tried to kneel in front of me.

Eric quickly grabbed her into his arms. There was slight anger in his eyes. "How can you be so cold, Ayla? Didn't you agree to this? Why do you still want Naomi to kneel and beg you?"

Naomi tugged at Eric's sleeve while forcing a smile. "Eric, it's only normal for Ayla to be mad for letting me have her wedding. I don't blame her at all…"

It hurt me even further to see Eric's face turning grimmer. So, I said to him earnestly, "Go ahead. I don't mind."

Eric looked unsettled when he saw how sincere I was, and he tried to explain further, "I won't really get married to Naomi. It's just a formality. Don't worry about it."

He pulled Naomi up and left without another glance. Naomi looked back to smile gleefully at me.

I sat alone for a long time before I finally wiped away my tears and headed to the bridal shop to get my wedding gown. That gown was created by a top Itolian designer whom I hired specifically for my wedding to Eric.

It was a gown that I had poured my heart into. I wanted to wear it to my wedding, even if Eric was not the man I was marrying.

When I arrived at the bridal shop, the owner said to me in astonishment, "Don't you know that your fiancé has collected it, Ms. Elderon?"

I looked at him blankly, feeling a chill all over.

The owner noticed something was wrong and apologized to me with great embarrassment. "I'm so sorry. This was our fault. I'll make a call about it right now!"

He called Eric in a fluster, but Eric sounded calm on the other end of the call. "Yes, I collected it for the wedding the day after. If Ayla asks about it, just tell her that I'll return it after I'm done using it. No one can take anything that belongs to her."

Eric's words made me give up on him completely. I shook my head at the owner and stumbled out of the place.

I no longer wanted the wedding gown that Naomi would be putting in. I no longer wanted Eric either.

Eric was pushed down on his knees in front of me by my men. I had no idea how he found my address. He barged into the house after getting it.When we met again, Eric stared at my injured arm. His voice trembled slightly. "Your injury… How is it so serious? I'm so sorry, Ayla. I never should have doubted you…"He slumped there, collapsing in on himself. There was a pained expression on his face, and he started choking back sobs."I've investigated the entire thing. Naomi's mother isn't terminally ill. Naomi lied to me… She created discord between us and destroyed your wedding gown. Everything she did was unforgivable."We're divorced now, and I made sure that she was punished for this. I even personally sent her mother to prison."I know that I've committed an unforgivable crime against you. I won't ask you for forgiveness, but please give me another chance. Let me use the rest of my life to make it up to you."Memories of my past life came back. He had confessed his regret to me

When we arrived at the hotel, I was taken away to do my makeup. The makeup artist chatted with me while putting on my makeup."You must really be the happiest bride in the world, Ms. Elderon. The Marcatos have created such a commotion in the entire Napleo because of this wedding."I looked at my wedding gown, which was even more perfectly designed than my original gown, and the full set of sapphire jewelry. They indicated how grand this wedding was going to be.The Elderons and the Marcatos' marriage alliance was enough to cause a sensation in Napleo. While I was thinking about this, someone knocked on the door of my makeup room. Shane looked in and passed me a pair of gloves that matched my wedding gown. "Put on this pair of gloves later, Ayla. That way, your parents won't notice your injury."His considerate gesture warmed my heart.I did not want my parents to find out about my injury. My mother was not in good health. If she found out that I was dumped by a common man, which

I got off the plane while holding on to my injured left arm. I was about to call my brother when dozens of Maybachs came driving toward me. They parked in a tidy line in front of me.My brother got out of a Rolls-Royce, which was the last in line. He came to me with open arms."You're finally home, my little princess! If you still refuse to come home, the youngest son of the Marcatos, Shane, would fly to Rimo on his personal plane to snatch you from your wedding."I was taken aback. The memory of a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy appeared in my mind. He was a handsome little boy with skin like milk. When we were young, he would come to my house to play with me. He even said confidently that he wanted to marry me.After I left for Rimo for university, I fell in love with Eric, and I eventually forgot my childhood playmate. That was when a tall, handsome young man appeared from behind my brother. He took my luggage from me like it was the most natural thing in the world and smiled at

With their backs to the door, Naomi and her mother were enjoying a lavish lunch. Naomi's mother wiped her oily mouth while speaking to her daughter."Now that your wish of marrying Eric has come true, do I still need to pretend to be sick in the hospital? Do you know how horrible it is to spend my days in the hospital? They don't allow me to smoke there."Naomi cajoled her mother while enjoying the glass of red wine in her hand."Be patient. I'll arrange your death in a few more days. I have no idea where that damned Ayla Elderon had disappeared to. I was planning to agitate her and blame your 'death' on her. Eric would end up hating her completely."A cruel look appeared on Naomi's mother's face."What a pity she managed to escape the last time. I wanted to scratch her face, but she managed to jump off the balcony from the second floor. If I succeed, she won't ever be able to seduce my son-in-law again. Why didn't she just die from the fall?"Eric was shocked. Their conversation

Naomi's room was on the first floor and faced the villa's back door. The help would seldom go over. The only culprit Eric could think of was me."Why sneak back home when she has decided to leave?""Don't blame Ayla for this, Eric. She must have done this because she didn't like the idea of me wearing her wedding gown. This is all my fault… I shouldn't have been envious of her beautiful gown and insisted on wearing it for the wedding…"Eric's expression turned cold because he was not happy with what I did. "It's fine. Once Ayla and I get married, we'll just rent a wedding gown from the bridal shop. If she doesn't want to wear this gown, she shouldn't wear it at all."He sounded sure of it, but once Naomi left, Eric brought the cut-up gown to the bridal shop. "Fix it no matter how much it costs!"Eric requested the owner of the bridal shop to get it done. However, the owner shook his head in pity when he saw the damage to the gown."It can’t be repaired. The damaged sections are t

Naomi’s mother was lying weakly in the hospital bed, her face lighting up when she saw the two of them. "How wonderful that Naomi has finally married you! I can finally rest in peace now."Her hands trembled as she reached out to place Eric's and Naomi's hands together. "I've watched you grow up, Eric. Promise me that you'll take good care of Naomi, alright?" She coughed hard several times as she spoke with difficulty. "Naomi doesn't even have a proper place to stay since returning. She's with me at the hospital every single day… Now that you're married, I can finally rest because she has you to take care of her." Eric had wanted to talk about the divorce with Naomi, but when he saw Naomi's sickly mother in bed, he agreed to her request despite his hesitation. "Don't worry. I'll take good care of Naomi. After all, she's my… wife." Even though Eric was unwilling, he agreed to take Naomi home with him. When he was not looking, Naomi and her mother exchanged a knowing and gleeful l
