Chapter 22

Cassie POV

I ate both of Enzo's bagels, even though I was actually full after the first one. The thought of having to go to a dinner orchestrated because my best friend's brother in law couldn't keep his idiotic mouth shut just infuriated me.

Knowing who the mastermind in the whole debacle was made things a bit easier to fight back though.

“I can't believe you think you're going to strong arm me into going to dinner with Vasilios!” I almost shouted into the phone as Eliana picked up.

“I can't believe you lied to me about you being alright in New York,” she shot back without even skipping a beat.

I sighed loudly, closing my eyes, “but I am alright!”

An audible huff came from the other end of the line, and I could almost envision Elle rolling her eyes at my words. “Shaking your backside in strange men's faces is not you being alright. You're putting yourself at risk for what reason? Huh?”

“For my freedom,” I reminded her only to be met with her mocking laughter.

Eliana is the kind of friend you wish you had. She probably knows of Vasilios’ troubles so she threatens to take away Cassie’s technology so she goes on the date with him. Hopefully they won’t get food poisoning though, lol.
