“Rituals of the Lovers’ Island”

Adel and Naomi stepped onto the island’s ground with cautious strides.

The rock beneath their feet felt unexpectedly smooth despite its dark hue—

uneven, as though it still carried the imprints of hearts that had passed before them,

and secrets it revealed only to those who arrived with a love that was true.

Behind them,

the lovers climbed the stone steps,

their bodies still wet,

droplets of water falling from hair and clothes,

their laughter light,

their smiles carrying the exhilaration of a brief adventure—

as if they had just emerged from a trial

that only those who trusted their hearts could pass.

Rare trees framed the path,

their trunks twisted,

their leaves swaying slowly,

as though whispering to every passerby:

Here is a place for lovers only…

Here, hearts are purified.

At the heart of the island,

a small square welcomed them,

paved with glossy black stones,

scattered with tiny hollows that caught the sunlight

and returned it in muted reflections
