MasukOn the day the doctor finally tells Alistair that Sophie is good to go home, Varisa and Alistair discuss her going back early to his house to help the housekeeper make the necessary arrangements for Sophie's homecoming celebration. She had suggested that he do something to make her feel special, and Sophie had seemed delighted with the idea when he had run it past her, so he knew he would do anything it took to make her happy. They are in the hospital cafeteria talking about the celebration when they find Hugo Reyes, one of the guards, in the cafeteria."Boss, Liliy is in the hospital reception and making a scene. She brought reporters with her and claims that her daughter's father is not letting her meet her child.Alistair is angry that Liliy would resort to using their daughter in her attempts to stain his reputation, but it is not the first time she has tried that, and probably will not be the last.Varisa looks at him with tense eyes. “Should I go up and sit with her? Do you want
She doesn't say anything, so he sidles up into the chair beside her and touches her arm. "Hey, you okay?"Varisa snaps back to herself. "Woah, yes. Hi. What did you say?" she asks quickly.Alistair can't help but smile at her reaction. "Yes, I was just asking how everything went between you and Sophie back there."She straightens back up. “Look, I know you’re her father and you’ll get her the best treatment available, but even the best therapy isn’t going to work unless she has a good emotional support that she can use to build a solid foundation for healing. That means a person that she always feels like she can rely on. If that’s not her mum and that’s not you, since you’re away for work so much, you need to figure out who it will be. If you want it to be me, well, I don’t know what it will do to her if she opens up to me and then I’m gone in six months. She was very dismissive of me at first because she told me I was going to be temporary, just like all her other nannies.”Alistair
Alistair's POVAlistair waits outside the hospital room when the ringing of the phone in his hand catches his attention. He takes a deep breath before answering it. “Hello?”"When were you going to tell me about Sophie?" Liliy demands.Alistair can't help but chuckle. Look at her acting all concerned.“Don’t act like you care enough to know what’s going on in your daughter’s life, Liliy.” The words spit from his mouth like venom. She doesn’t say anything for a while, until Alistair hears her new amour, Gareth Grant, say, “Darling, Sophie is with her father. You don’t need to worry about her.”Inside, Alistair aches, his heart breaking over the pain Liliy has put Sophie through. He can handle the pain she puts him through, but the pain she causes her is too much."Wait babe, let me talk," she tells Gareth. But before she can say anything else, Alistair hangs up. There's no point in hurting himself even more. He aches inwardly. The fact that Sophie has such a mother breaks his heart. He
Alistair's POV“I told Sophie that she was going to get a new nanny, but you’re going to have to make your own mark,” Alistair says to Varisa, still trying to compose himself as much as he can while leading her down the hall at St. Benedict Children's Hospital.Although he cannot tell her so, Varisa's presence has accidentally made him feel better. Liliy was the only person he ever felt like he could be himself with, and after their divorce, it was like nobody ever understood him again. His parents blamed him for the whole situation, as they never liked Liliy in the first place. It's been a while since the presence of another person soothed him.He wonders what Liliy is doing right now. He had asked the hospital to keep any visitors from him or his daughter, so hopefully she won’t disturb them during this process. He’s not sure if that would be better or worse for Sophie, considering how keenly she feels the absence of her mother. He had found himself knee-deep in mud earlier as Dr. E

Varisa's POVShe leaves the building feeling like this was all unreal. This interview was hilarious in just how bizarre it was, and by that, she doesn’t exactly mean bad either. She began to reflect more on the angry grump she had run into and already written off in her mind; he seemed like he was under a lot of pressure, but more than that, when he wasn’t being rude, she actually let herself find him really attractive. There was so much heat in the room; even when there was no conversation, the quiet had been so heavy it filled the room. Though she was trying to play it cool, it caught her off guard when he exchanged the private information about himself that he did.She doesn't believe he necessarily intended to share those things with her, but he had. There is so much about him that is intriguing and attracts her. She shakes her head, attempting to remind herself she needs to think in a more professional manner. When she reaches Larisa's flat in Camden, Varisa finds Zarla gone and
