Chapter 9

He was holding me by the waist and all my attention was there. He squeezes it occasionally so I turn to the side and blink slightly. Why does he have such an effect on me, even though we often disagree?

His expensive perfume attacks my nose. It's intoxicating and very manly. None of me removed his hand as we entered the hall in Sofiya's mansion.

I no longer looked at what his reaction would be when I removed his hand because he was stunned I did. I'm sure that the monkey's face isn't pleasant anymore.

The huge chandelier in the middle welcomed us. There were big tables and there were people in each of them. The surroundings are screaming luxury. Every dress of the people you will know that they’re wealthy.

I saw on the left a table a "Hernandez" written on the card and we went straight there. The table had six seats, so I chose the opposite seat for Madam. So that the three of them, Taiden and sir Darius, would be seating side by side. I’m actually afraid to be seen with them here. I’m just their nanny. I shouldn’t be here.

Madam frowned at what I had done.

"Why are you there? You sit here next to Taiden...” madam ordered and Taiden grinned at that.

Madam, that's why I'm keeping my distance from your son because I'm disgusted. We also don't get along. I said in my mind and was no longer voiced it.

I could do nothing but stoodup and move next to the monkey who was just grinning next to me. He leaned closer and whispered something. I immediately went frozen when I felt his breath to my neck.

"Told you earlier to sit beside me, didn't I?" he said and I just stared. I'm speechless. My heartbeat was very deafening , because of his whisper. I really don't want us to be this close.

The program started at the same time as everyone greeted Sofiya. Of course his friends was there,  too. If only Suzie was here I wouldn't be bored.

After the serving the last main course, the music started playing. Everyone is has  a partner on the dancefloor. I saw Sofiya's eyes darted to our table. She was wearing a backless silk dress that was very fit to her body. Sofiya is beautiful, I admit. It's just she has a rotten attitude.

"Happy Birthday, hija." Madam greeted before kissing her cheek and her gaze went to me. She glared at me and rolled her eyes.

"Thank you..." she said and she looked at Taiden who was just staring at her and there was no emotion on his face. Maybe he was overwhelmed by how beautiful Sofiya was.

Madam frowned when she saw that Taiden had not yet greeted her.

"Won’t  you greet Sofiya, Taiden?"

He held out his hand as if to shake hands, and Sofiya's face was surprised there but she immediately replaced the shock with a sweet smile and at the same time hugged Taiden before kissing Taiden’s cheek.

"Thank you...“ Sofiya said. But I never heard Taiden replied.

The madam laughed.

"You kids, it's like you have worlds of your own. It's nice to see you guys like that..." madam stated.

My heart ached slightly at what Madam had said to them. It's really nice to see Taiden and Sofiya.

Things matters.

She looked at me. I had no choice but to greet her as well.

"Happy Birthday." I said sparingly but I didn't expect hervto hug me.

"You still look trash even though your clothes are nice. Don't feel bad, though...“ she whispered before losing my hug.

My heart felt like being punch. No matter how nice your clothes are, if people think you're trash, then, you’d never belong to their circle. Clothing cannot change the status of life.

I immediately regretted going to the party. I just want to experience wearing such an elegant dress. I guess this was too much to ask.

"Taiden, let's dance?" Sofiya called Taiden.

"No thanks. I'm good." he answered immediately.

Sofiya's face wrinkled.

"Taiden, it's her birthday. Give it a go..." that was sir Darius.

"I said, I'm good. I don't want to dance." his voice was now irritated.

"Son, please ..." Taiden let out a sigh as he went over Sofiya's hand and grabbed her to the dancefloor.

Taiden grabbed Sofiya's waist and Sofiya's hand went to his neck...clinging. Their bodies are too close.

I didn’t like what I saw and

I don’t know why I’m affected like this. I don't care who else dances with Taiden. But why is this? Why ... it hurts.

I bent down and drank the wine in front of me. I guided my eyes elsewhere but my vision still returned to Taiden.

His eyes found my sight. I immediately averted my eyes. Moments later, my gaze returned to them and saw Taiden still looking at me.

Why is he staring at me like that? I don't like his stares. I feel differently. And I don't like that.

"Aww, look at them, Darius. They're too cute...“

Sir Darius agreed with what Madam said.

"What do you think, Zella? Is there something goingbin with those two?“ I was immediately asked by Madam and I had difficulties to answer her. I didn't expect her to ask me that.

"Uh ... yes Madam. I think so..." I said bitterly and took a deep breath. Why did I feel heavy when I said that? What is happening to me? Why am I like this? I hate it!

Taiden sat down next to me again after he danced with Sofiya. The old couple stood up and danced, too.

Taiden suddenly took my hand and played with my fingers. He squeezed it. I pulled it back but he held it tightly.

"Let go of my hand." I said.

"Stay still, please ... Zella." I think I caught my breath when he mentioned my name. There is something in his voice that calms the mood as if I wasn’t previously annoyed.

I shot him a bad look.

"Why did you play with my hand? You have a hand. Play your hand instead--"

"I'm sorry ... I danced with her. Mommy ... I can't say no to her...“ He cut me off. Why is he sorry? It's okay for me for me whether he dance with different women out there. Yes, I feel somthing....but he will die first before I’ll admit it.

"Why are you explaining?" I asked him curiously.

He turned to me and gave me a gentle look. It was as if I would break when he pressed his gaze on me.

"Because you look upset. I don't like it." he said in his deep cold voice.

My breathing seems to be hyperventilating. My heart was panicking and my heart was racing with the force of its beating, as if I was being deaf.

Why do I feel this way about ‘him being this close to me? When he talks to me. Especially when he touches any part of my body. What he tells me today isn’t a help at all.

Even so, I still don't want to assume. Based on what Madam said, it looks like she wants Sofiya for Taiden. I don’t want to pay attention to whatever it is that is bothering my heart. I don’t want to hope and ... get hurt.

Because I know I don't fit in with the world he leads.

"Are you okay? You're hot." he said and his hand landed to my forehead. Why wouldn't I be okay. I feel fine.

"Let's go home. You have a fever...“!even though I haven’t answered, he pushed me out of the hall.

Fever? How can I have a fever? I'm okay.!Garlic suddenly came to my mind. Now the effect has come out!

I close my eyes remembering what I did putting garlic in my armpit.

"Taiden? Where are you going?" it was Sofiya who followed us.

"She's hot. I'm gonna take her home."

he replied to Sofiya.

Why does my understanding of what he said seem to have a double meaning?
