I walk over as cautiously as I can and I can see everyone is acting calmly. There aren’t that many guests in the house itself right now. Tieran’s secretary had them all moved outside.

I see her flinch lightly when Tieran sets his gaze on her and then he shifts it to Malachi, “I don’t remember inviting your fiance.”

Something in Malachi’s eyes tightens and the line of his jaw juts out as he responds, “She’s my friend, and I couldn't refuse her.”

Malachi’s later words sound incredibly reluctant and his gaze looks annoyed, but his words are what set my heart thumping like a piece of stone skipping over w
