Chapter 2

Penulis: Little Donkey
Natasha's POV

Louis stared at me in disbelief. "What did you say?" he asked.

Mom leaped to her feet. Confusion was written all across her face as she snapped, "Have you lost your mind? Why would you abort a perfectly healthy baby?"

I was just about to respond when Madison suddenly started swaying on her feet. Her knees buckled, sending her crumpling to the floor.

"Madison!"

"What's going on, Maddie?"

Two panicked voices resounded at the same time.

Louis immediately let go of me and lunged at Madison. Mom also rushed to Madison's side and supported her with all her strength, preventing Madison from collapsing on the floor. The attention that I had briefly gotten from my abortion had once again returned to Madison.

Mom anxiously offered a glass of warm water to Madison. She sounded deeply worried when she said, "Drink it slowly. Don't scare me. You're okay."

Meanwhile, Louis had sunk to one knee and was holding Madison firmly in his arms. "I'll call 911. The paramedics can give her a check-up."

He was just about to make the call when Madison's tightly shut eyes fluttered open. She grabbed Louis and said, "No… Don't call 911. I'm okay. I just got a little stressed out when I heard what Natty said. I'll be fine after resting for a little while."

Only then did Louis and Mom remember that I was still in the living room. Their eyes shone with displeasure as they looked at me in unison.

I was deathly pale, but none of them cared to ask about my condition.

Madison leaned against Louis' chest and said, "Louis, Mom, don't blame Natty. I'm the one who's too weak. I don't do well under stress."

She took a gentle breath before continuing, "I can leave right now if you don't like how close Louis and I are, Natty. But you shouldn't lie to us by saying that you got an abortion."

She then made a show of pushing herself out of Louis' embrace to leave after she was done speaking. As expected, Louis immediately tightened his hold on her when she moved, keeping her in place.

"Don't move. You're not well. Who told you that you're allowed to leave?"

Mom's eyes were full of disdain when she looked at me. "Are you done causing a fuss yet, Natasha Golding? Will you only be satisfied after you send Maddie to her death?"

"You're being very immature, Natty," Louis added. "How can you joke about something like this?"

"I really got an abortion," I said.

But no one believed me. They assumed that I was just being difficult because I was jealous, using the child to threaten them into giving me attention.

When I was younger, I was invited to join my school's annual award ceremony. However, Madison suddenly fainted without warning just as the ceremony was about to start.

Mom picked her up and rushed her to the hospital without any hesitation. As a result, she was absent from the award ceremony that I had been looking forward to for the entire year.

From that day on, my classmates ridiculed me, saying that I didn't have a mother.

After Louis and I got married, I planned out our entire honeymoon. Madison insisted on coming along with us on the day of our departure, but she suddenly developed altitude sickness halfway through the trip. As a result, we had to abandon the plans that I had meticulously made and return home.

In the beginning, Louis had aired his grievances to me. "What the hell is wrong with your sister?"

I didn't know when it started, but things began to change. Whenever he went shopping, he would buy one set for Madison if he bought one set for me. In fact, whatever he bought for me would be far inferior to whatever he bought for her.

Louis and I had gotten into a fight over his behavior in the past. He would always defend himself by saying that both items were about the same. He would then tell me to stop being so petty.

When I remained silent, the anger in Louis' eyes receded and was replaced by exhaustion. He let go of Madison and approached me. But when he tried to touch my shoulder, I reflexively dodged his touch.

His hand remained suspended in midair. He remained silent for a few moments before letting out a soft sigh. "You should get some rest. You're pregnant now, so you're prone to mood swings. I won't take what you said to heart, but don't joke about something like this again."

Natasha's POVI packed my belongings and moved abroad on the same afternoon that I blocked Louis. My days abroad were busy but fulfilling. I returned to the industry I was familiar with, working day in and day out. Relying on my outstanding skills and years of experience, I was promoted from a regular project supervisor to the project director of the Auria-Penso region within just a year. After personally handling several projects that were blockbuster projects, I managed to carve a place for myself in the industry once again. However, I received an order from the company's headquarters just as things were back on track, and I was about to kickstart another overseas project. The domestic headquarters had created a brand new core project that urgently needed an experienced person to lead it. Thus, the company assigned me to return to the country to fill the position. I would be responsible for coordinating projects that were on the national level, and I would also have the authori

  • No Baby for a Cheapskate   Chapter 7

Third-Person POV"That's impossible!" Louis exclaimed. "There must be something wrong with your system!"The police officer's tone remained professional when he explained, "The system records are accurate, sir. Both parties signed the divorce agreement of their own volition. The divorce has gone into full legal effect. There's no error."Louis gripped his phone tightly and shouted, "I never agreed to this divorce! I would never sign a divorce agreement!"He suddenly froze in place. His fingers were shaking when he hung up on the police and ordered his assistant to pull up the records for the divorce. The terms were listed clearly, and the signatures were genuine. The divorce was already in full legal effect. He and Natasha were no longer married.A few moments later, the sounds of the lock turning came from the door. Patricia entered the house while carrying bags of all shapes and sizes. Madison was trailing behind her. The two of them were chatting happily with each other.Pat

  • No Baby for a Cheapskate   Chapter 6

Third-Person POVPatricia's smile stiffened as a steely expression crossed her face. Madison was also staring at Louis in disbelief. She had always assumed that he would take her side, and she'd already taken it for granted that she would be joining him and Natasha on their trip to New Lochrane. She had even bought a new suitcase and clothes for the trip beforehand.A long time passed before Patricia suppressed her anger and asked, "What's gotten into you today, Louis? Did that wretch, Natasha, plant some funny ideas in your head? She's trying to drive a wedge into our family, isn't she?""Nothing of the sort is happening, Mom," Louis replied, frowning slightly. "This is my decision."He had been foolish before, but he wasn't going to make the same mistakes again.A flurry of complicated emotions raged in Louis' chest when he looked down at the fresh potatoes and chicken in the bag. He placed the bag down and said lightly, "I'll leave these ingredients for you since chicken stew

Third-Person POVLouis stopped breathing for a few seconds as he clutched his phone.Madison, who was standing next to him, tugged his sleeve lightly and said, "Natty's just being stubborn. She's intentionally trying to scare us, wanting us to coax and comfort her. "I know what she's like. There's no way that she's actually willing to abort the child. She's jealous because she knows that you treat me well, so she purposefully came up with this lie to make us angry."Louis' eyes were still glued to the message. Madison was right. Natasha had always prioritized the child above all else. She had to endure countless hardships just to get pregnant. It was simply impossible that she would abort it just like that. The message had to be fake. Natasha had orchestrated this plan in a fit of anger to scare him.Suppressing the inexplicable anxiety in his heart, Louis pocketed his phone and massaged his brow. "You're right. She's just being difficult. We should just leave her alone."The t

Natasha's POVI received a new notification from my social media account the moment I hung up.Madison had uploaded a new post. The first photo showed a necklace with an amethyst that was as big as a pigeon's egg. The second photo showed two figures leaning against each other under a streetlight at night. The caption was, "Other than Mom, you're the one who treats me the best."I stared at the screen for a long time before tapping on Louis' real-time location. He had given me access to it of his own volition in the past. The red dot on the screen showed that he was at Madison's place.Sleep eluded me that night.…The divorce agreement was delivered to me the next morning. I folded it neatly and slipped it into my tote bag and left the house. My small car was parked outside the building.
