Chapter 18

Jeanette pushed him away with all her might and grabbed her cell phone. “What affair? I didn’t cheat on you! He’s just a friend!”

Damon sneered mockingly. “Hah, a friend. Your so-called friend.”

Jeanette’s face turned pale, and she felt a sharp pain in her heart. “Damon, in your eyes, am I really that immoral?”

Damon responded without hesitation by asking, “Are you not?

Jeanette closed her eyes tightly and retorted, “Damon, you’re being unreasonable! Get out! I don’t want to fight with you now.”

“Jeanette Leighton, this is my house, so you should be the one to get out instead!” Damon had never shown her mercy.

Jeanette endured the pain in her eyes and nodded. “Yes! I should be the one to get out.”

She walked past him, opened the closet to pull out a suitcase, started grabbing her clothes, and stuffed them into her suitcase one after another. She had had enough of this cold home.

Damon was still standing at the balcony, his head facing the side as he stared at Jeanette. His dark eyes were filled with gloom.

Jeanette quickly stuffed her clothes into her suitcase before limping to the bathroom to get her toiletries.

All this while, Damon simply stared at her and did not move, but he finally took a step forward. He entered the bedroom and dumped all the contents of Jeanette’s suitcase on the bed. He then grabbed the suitcase and slammed it on the floor.

The plastic composite suitcase broke and cracked with a bang, and even the wheels came off.

Jeanette rushed to the bathroom door when she heard the noise, and her eyes widened in disbelief. “Damon, what are you doing?”

He had told her to get out of the house, yet he broke her suitcase. Did he want her to take nothing with her and leave the house empty-handed?

Damon turned his head and gave her a gloomy, cold glance. He then turned around and slammed the door as he left.

Jeanette threw the facial cleanser in her hand on the floor in a rage and could not hold in her anger as she said, “Damon, you jerk!”

The response she got was the loud sound of Damon slamming the door.

Jeanette was furious as she looked at the chaos in the bedroom. Even if Damon wanted her to get out of the house empty-handed, it would mean not taking anything that belonged to him. However, she had bought those clothes, cosmetics, and miscellaneous items with her own hard-earned money.

Why couldn’t she take them with her? It was not a big deal to just buy a new suitcase. She ought to just give him the suitcase as compensation for their break-up!

Break-up… The sudden appearance of the word made Jeanette’s heart tremble violently. It turned out that her denial about divorce had already begun to waver without her realizing it.

However, if she let go, all the suffering and humiliation she suffered in the past two years would have been in vain. Could she really accept that?

Jeanette crouched down and hugged her knees. She was not ready to accept that… After holding in all her anger and frustration, Jeanette put everything back to where they belonged, one by one. She still could not leave. If she did, it would mean that she lost. She would not admit defeat.

The housekeeper gently knocked on the door and asked carefully, “Miss Jeanette, would you like to have breakfast?

Jeanette looked at the mess in the room and shook her head as she said, “No, I have no appetite.” She pointed to the broken suitcase next to her after saying that. “Please throw it away for me.”

“Sure.” The housekeeper went down with the suitcase. A few minutes later, she came back up again, and her expression seemed complicated. “Miss Jeanette, someone has come to visit you.”

Jeanette was startled. “Who?”

The housekeeper replied, “Your sister.”

Madison? What was she doing here?

“I won’t see her. Tell her to leave.” Jeanette had no time to deal with her.

“Sister, I’m already here. How could you be so merciless and drive me away?” Madison had already gone upstairs uninvited while dragging a suitcase in her hand.

As she stood in front of Jeanette’s bedroom, she glanced at the mess inside and said with exaggerated surprise, “Oh, did you and brother-in-law have a fight? Why are all your things on the floor?”

Jeanette looked at her coldly. “Why the hell are you here? If you have something to say, say it. If you don’t, please leave!”

Madison touched her belly triumphantly and leered at Jeanette. “I’ll be staying here throughout my pregnancy from now on. Sister, I hope you’ll take good care of me.”

Jeanette clenched her fingers instantly and gave Madison a cold stare. “What do you mean?”

Madison approached her arrogantly in her little high heels. “I’m saying that starting today, you’ll be fully responsible for taking care of my diet and everyday life until the birth of the child in my womb.”
