Chapter 215

Autor: Ginger Sue
"I'm here with my parents," Jessica said as she stood before Joshua. Her slender frame was wrapped in the white evening gown he had originally intended for Winter.

Jessica's face was delicately made up, her long lashes framing eyes that seemed to speak without words.

"This gown looks good on you," Joshua said lightly, letting his eyes linger for a moment. A smile appeared on his face.

"Really, Josh?" Jessica's smile was radiant. Her eyes softened with warmth as she looked at him. "You asked about my measurements before, so I knew you must have had a surprise for me. And I was right! I love this gown. Thank you, Josh!"

Joshua rubbed the ring on his left pinky languidly. "I'm glad you like it."

Her calm, compliant manner put him at ease in a way Winter never had—or ever would.

Joshua still couldn't understand it. Did Winter not see how he was trying to make things easier for her? He had even softened his approach.

She was the only one in the world who could make him actively reach

Jessica thought that perhaps Sean was exaggerating when he told Ruth that Joshua was making a public appearance with Winter as a couple. If Joshua had truly intended for Winter to appear as his wife, he would've worn his wedding ring. Florence must have been the one to force his hand, demanding that he bring Winter with him. With that in mind, Jessica felt a quiet sense of relief. While Joshua wasn't looking, she slipped out her phone and sent Ruth a text. "Mom, that bitch, Winter, didn't show up.""Jessie, don't worry. When it comes to handling things, you can always count on me. I'll take down everyone who stands in your way!" Ruth replied."Thank you, Mom. I know you love me the most.""By the way, where are you, Jessie? Your dad was looking for you."A shadowed, pleased smile played across Jessica's mouth when she replied, "I'm in Josh's car. Tonight, I'm still his woman.""Oh, wow! Great job, Jessie! I'll tell your dad later so he can prepare himself. This is a rare chan

Elijah's eyes flickered with emotion, his voice quiet but hoarse. "I see Win as a sister. I don't feel that way about her. Besides, liking someone doesn't mean you have to have them. Being able to see her, to look after her, even like this, is already enough for me."…Time was slipping away, and Winter didn't head home. Instead, she drove straight to the auction. She hadn't bothered with makeup or fancy clothes. She wore a simple athletic set, treating the whole event as nothing more than a routine stop.In fact, she was a little curious. How would Joshua introduce her if she showed up like this, so completely unpresentable, in front of all those elites? How would he address her?Chances were, he'd pretend not to know her at all.Being treated like air wasn't new for her. Five years of it had taught her exactly how to handle the kind of silent disregard the rich and powerful could show. She was experienced. The black Ferrari ate up the night road.Ahead, the intersection stre

Time slipped by in the blink of an eye, and soon the weekend arrived. The long-anticipated Platinum Auction, a gathering of elites and rising stars alike, was set to begin at exactly seven that evening at Jeston International Exhibition Center. The auction had been the talk of the city for a month, with social media buzzing and influencers dropping teasers for the past week. By now, the excitement was at a fever pitch.Tonight, Jeston would host a glittering gathering of tycoons, celebrities, and high society.Although Winter had agreed to accompany Joshua to the event, she spent the entire day moving at her own unhurried pace, completely unconcerned. In the early evening, she dropped by the police station while Elijah did his daily check-in.Though Elijah had been released on bail, he still had to check in at the station every day. He wasn't truly free, and his situation was far from settled."Win, thank you for coming all this way for me," Elijah said as they exited the statio

The shift was palpable, and Sean felt it. Whatever affection Winter once held for Joshua was already fading. No matter how much he tried to bridge the gap between them, he realized the situation had spiraled far beyond his reach. "To show his appreciation, Mr. Fulton also picked out something for you. It's just everyday wear. No pressure."As George spoke, his gaze flicked briefly toward the trash can, and there was a trace of amusement in his eyes.Winter hesitated for a moment. She then pursed her lips and reached out to take the bag. "Please thank Mr. Fulton for me."Because of Alistair, she always felt she owed Ezekiel something. Turning him down outright didn't sit right with her.But watching this unfold nearly drove Sean out of his mind. He had always been even-tempered, but the contrast was too much. Watching her accept Ezekiel's gift so easily after turning Joshua's down so decisively pushed him right to the edge.Winter said nothing more and turned back into the house.

Winter walked to the door and turned on the video intercom. She froze. "Mr. Hall?""Mrs. Stroud, Mr. Stroud asked me to bring something for you. Please open the door to receive it." Outside, Sean held a refined white box in both hands, his manner as respectful as ever.Winter disliked Joshua, but she had always had a good impression of Sean. During her five years at the Stroud residence, he was one of the few who genuinely treated her as the lady of the house. She knew that in the past, Sean had secretly made many efforts to warm things up between her and Joshua. But it had all been pointless.Joshua was utterly devoted to Jessica. His loyalty was absolute, his focus unwavering, and his eyes never wandered to another woman.Winter opened the door, her tone flat. "What's this?"Sean was all smiles. "Mrs. Stroud, you'll be attending the auction with Mr. Stroud the day after tomorrow. Mr. Stroud handpicked this evening gown according to your measurements."Winter looked at it coldl
