Aurora's POV

Expression was unreadable, but their gaze was fixed on me, piercing and unrelenting.

I tried to swallow, but my throat was dry and raw as if I’d been screaming.

Something felt… wrong.

I shifted slightly, and a sharp pain tore through my abdomen, stealing the breath from my lungs. A strangled sound escaped me before I could stop it.

The doctor took a cautious step forward. “You’re awake,” he murmured, like he wasn’t sure how to proceed.

But my gaze had already dropped, trailing down to where the sheets pressed against my stomach.

And then it hit me.

A flash of memory—blood between my thighs. Diego, Lillian, the weight of hands pressing down on my body. A voice, cold and final.

“She was fed drugs to induce an abortion.”

A hollow ache spread through my chest, deeper than the pain in my body. My fingers curled weakly into the sheets as my breath came faster, shallower.

No.

No, no, no.

Tears trickled from the corner of my eyes, burning and nerve-wracking.
