The penthouse was so quiet, it almost felt like the room was holding its breath. The air didn’t move. It felt heavy and hard to breathe. Jason and Bella just sat there, still and quiet. The news of the traitor inside their circle that they had just confirmed was scary. A mole. Not a stranger from outside, but someone close, someone they trusted.

This betrayal wasn’t loud or public. It was quiet and personal, and it hurt much more. Jason had worked so hard to fix Reed & Co., to clean it up and make it better. He had tried to bring peace back into their lives, for himself and for Bella. But now, all of that felt like it was shaking again. Someone from the inside had been lying. Watching. Spying.

Bella’s stomach hurt. She felt sick. She remembered Sarah; the nanny who used to work in their home. Sarah had seemed so nice, so helpful. But in the end, she was working against them too. She had fooled them. Now, this felt the same. Another person pretending to care, but really trying to hurt

The small space that had opened up between Jason and Bella after Bella’s emotional breakdown didn’t go away. It stayed there like a shadow, it was quiet but heavy. They still stood side by side. They still fought Arthur Thorne with everything they had. But the closeness they once shared, the ease between them, had changed. Something warm and natural had started to fade under all the pressure. It wasn’t that they didn’t love each other. They did. But the fight was wearing them down in ways they hadn’t expected.Thorne wasn’t attacking like a loud, obvious enemy. He was like smoke; hard to catch, impossible to pin down. His plan wasn’t to destroy them quickly. No, he wanted to stretch out their suffering, to wear them down until they broke from the inside. The lies and rumors spread like wildfire, hitting Jason’s image as a leader at Reed & Co. and chipping away at Bella’s good name in the design world. Anonymous messages kept triggering stressful audits on their charities, pulling thei

The days after July 15th passed without any big event or loud attack. But what came instead was worse in a quiet way. It was like a slow-moving storm that never really hit but never left either. Jason and Bella felt it in everything, they couldn’t relax, couldn’t breathe. Arthur Thorne didn’t disappear. He just changed how he moved. He got smarter, more careful, more dangerous. His attacks weren’t the kind you could see coming. They were quiet, personal, and meant to mess with their minds. At Reed & Co., Jason’s company, nothing felt safe anymore. Every new project idea came with questions. Every email or message made him pause. Were they being watched? Was something being leaked? Meetings that used to be short and honest now dragged on, filled with side glances and hidden meanings. Jason had worked so hard to build a team where everyone trusted each other. But now, that trust was fading. People were nervous. Even Ryan, who had always been calm and reliable, was showing signs of stres

  • Once my Wife   Chapter 45: The Aftermath of the Countdown

The morning of July 16th arrived, not with chaos, but with a strange, haunting silence. The deadline “July 15, 2025” had passed. The warning message, “Countdown Initiated,” had come and gone. Jason and Bella had stayed up all night in the penthouse, watching the news, checking Reed & Co.’s systems, reading every report they could find. They expected something loud like a crash, a hostile takeover, a public scandal. But nothing obvious happened. That quiet, however, felt worse than an explosion. It was the kind of silence that made your skin crawl, like the moment before a trap snaps shut. It didn’t feel like a victory, it felt like something had started that they couldn’t yet see.Jason was already on the phone before the sun fully rose. His voice was sharp and worried. “Ryan, anything? Any strange movements? Any news?”Ryan sounded just as anxious. “Nothing big, Jason. The stock market’s calm. Our numbers are stable. No strange press from Greenlight Ventures. But I don’t like it. It’

The meeting with Detective Harris felt heavy from the start. Jason and Bella laid everything out; the mysterious Seraphina Dubois, the hacked systems, the anonymous file, and that strange countdown date. Harris listened closely, flipping through the file Bella had built. His face grew more serious with each page.“This is advanced,” Harris finally said, tapping on a section showing the shell companies. “The fake names, the hidden money… this is professional work. And the way Reed & Co. was attacked shows this isn’t just business competition. This is aggressive. But the countdown? That’s different. It feels like a direct threat. Not normal for corporate fights.”“What if it’s not just corporate?” Bella said, her voice full of urgency. “What if this is personal? What if someone is coming after more than just Reed & Co.?”Harris paused, looking straight at Jason. “George Reed. He may be stuck in a hospital, but his influence? It was massive. He had people. People who owed him, people who

Morning came, but it didn’t bring any peace. The air in the penthouse still felt heavily tensed. Bella couldn’t stop thinking about Seraphina Dubois. The idea kept growing in her mind…what if Seraphina wasn’t real at all? What if she was just a mask, a face created by someone else? The way the digital attack was done, the strange anonymous file, and that scary “countdown” date all pointed to someone much smarter, much more dangerous than they had ever faced before.Jason felt the same urgency. He dove deeper into the investigation with Ryan, pushing harder every day. Together, they built a stronger wall around Reed & Co., trying to make the company safe from whoever was coming for them. Every employee with access to important data was now quietly watched. No one talked about the recent system “glitch,” but you could feel it that everyone was on edge. The office, usually full of energy and excitement, was now filled with quiet tension.Bella couldn’t ignore her gut feeling. Something b

The morning sun lit up the room through the curtain. After their quiet night together, Bella and Jason felt a little stronger, like they'd built a shield around their hearts. The love they shared had given them new strength, and they were ready to face the scary truth: someone close to them was sharing their secrets. Someone they trusted.Jason left for work early, his face serious. He walked straight into Ryan Cole’s office, not even stopping to say good morning. Ryan looked surprised, but once he heard what Jason had to say, his face turned just as serious."A spy? Someone right here with us?” Ryan asked, rubbing his messy hair. “That’s crazy really, we really need to get to the bottom of this before it results in further damage. Whoever it is... they’ve been watching us, copying us. It’s like something out of a mystery book.”Jason leaned in closer. “It’s not just about money, Ryan. This is personal. Every time we try to fix things, they twist it. My dad used to do things like this
