Chapter Fifteen

Maya’s POV

My heart raced as Mason turned the car off the main road and onto a narrow path leading to an open green field.

Confusion and panic gripped me; the landscape seemed familiar, yet unfamiliar, as if it existed in some distant memory. My voice trembled as I pleaded with Mason to stop, my cries growing louder and more desperate.

"Mason, please! Stop the car! Let me out!" I shouted, tears streaming down my face.

But he remained resolute, his gaze fixed on the path ahead, ignoring my pleas. Panic surged through me as he locked the doors, the sound echoing like a final barrier between me and my escape. I pounded on the windows, my fists hitting glass that felt impossibly unyielding.

"Mason, why won't you listen? Let me go!" I screamed, my voice hoarse with fear.
