Chapter 4

Author: Noorie
One question that had been bothering me was whether he knew we were going to bind our souls on Blood Moon. But before I could ask it, he said it himself.

“Tomorrow our parents will finalize the arrangements for our mating ceremony. Are you… okay with it?”

A genuine smile appeared on my lips as I said, “More than just okay, I’m happy.”

Later that night, Aphra connected me through a mind link and let me hear the voices of their absurd groans. She said, “Since you didn't deliver the lubricant, Nyxen said he didn't care if I get pregnant with his child; he will take care of me and my baby.”

“From this night on, I’m moving to Nyxen's pack, Lucy. Tell your parents to erase my name from their pack’s register. I belong to Nyxen now.”

I only smirked at her. The little show she was letting me watch– only to feel jealous of her?

We will see who is going to have the last laugh when she finds out the man she is so proud of is only an adopted child while the man I’m going to mate with is the true heir.

The morning sun did little to thaw the icy tension that had settled deep in my bones. Walking across the pack grounds the next day, the whispers followed me like a physical weight. The sight of Alieus Stormborn—the pack’s most formidable, untouchable warrior—escorting me away from Nyxen’s little circus had sent shockwaves through the hierarchy.

I kept my chin high, my steps deliberate. In my past life, these whispers would have broken me. Today, they were just background noise.

Until a shadow blocked my path.

Nyxen stood near the training grounds, flanked by Jaxon and a few of his usual sycophants. The smug arrogance he usually wore was absent, replaced by a tense, sour expression.

"Look who it is," Jaxon chuckled, though his voice lacked its usual confidence as his eyes darted around, as if expecting Alieus to materialize from the trees. "The future Luna herself. Tell us, Lucy, did the Alpha's uncle give you a comfortable ride home last night? He seemed very concerned about your safety."

"Shut up, Jaxon," Nyxen snapped, his jaw clenching so hard I heard the bone click.

"Come on, Nyxen, we're just stating the obvious," one of the other fighters chimed in, smirk widening. "Alieus doesn't even remember the names of the high-ranking elders, yet he knew exactly who Lucy was. He practically threatened to dismember you for her. Are you sure your uncle isn't trying to claim what's yours?"

"I said, shut up!" Nyxen roared. The power of his Alpha-blood rippled through the air, forcing his friends to instantly drop their heads, their smiles vanishing.

Nyxen turned his furious, dark gaze onto me. He took a heavy step forward, invading my space, his chest heaving with a mixture of wounded pride and possessive rage.

"What the hell is going on between you and my uncle, Lucy?" he demanded, his voice dropping to a harsh, venomous whisper. "Why is he playing your knight in shining armor? You think you're clever, trying to use him to make me jealous?"

I looked at him, completely unmoved by the storm brewing in his eyes. "I don't need to use anyone, Nyxen. Your uncle simply possesses something you severely lack: basic manners."

My calm response only fanned the flames. Nyxen grabbed my upper arm, his grip tightening into a bruising hold.

"Listen to me carefully," he hissed, his face inches from mine, his scent turning sharp and aggressive. "You are my destined mate. You belong to me, and you will represent this pack as my Luna. If you think you can use my family name to humiliate me, you are dead wrong. I will not accept a she-wolf who is fooling around with other men—especially not under my own roof. If I catch you so much as looking at Alieus again, I will reject you so fast the entire pack will watch you crawl away in shame. Do you understand me?"

I looked down at his hand on my arm, then looked back up into his enraged eyes. A cold, sharp smile touched my lips—a smile that visibly caught him off guard.

"Then I suggest you start drafting the words for your rejection, Nyxen," I said softly, my voice laced with a terrifying calm. "Because you are vastly underestimating how little I care about what you accept.”

  • Reborn, I Chose His Uncle   Chapter 10

Nyxen’s wild laughter echoed off the ancient pine trees, but as I stood behind Alieus, a cold clarity washed over me. In my previous life, during the early years of our disastrous union, Nyxen had drunkenly boasted about his emergency escape routes—and the shadowy rogue faction he had secretly funded on the pack's northern border as a contingency plan.I knew their leader. I knew their dark magic. And, most importantly, I knew their fatal weakness."Alieus," I whispered, stepping out from behind his shoulder, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. "The mercenary Alpha leading them—that's Malakor. His dark runes aren't powered by rogue magic; they're bound to a blood-pact talisman anchored to the obsidian stone in his chest harness. Destroy the stone, and the contract breaks. The rogues will turn on whoever hired them."Alieus glanced down at me, a dangerous, dark smile breaking across his features. "Are you sure, my sweet wolf?""I'd stake my life on it," I replied coldly, lockin

The three days following Nyxen’s public breakdown flew by in a blur of swift, decisive justice. In the grand hall of the Pack House, Alpha Edward presided over the council with a cold, unyielding fury. Nyxen—stripped of his future Alpha title, his rank, and his pride—sat bound in heavy silver chains beside Aphra, who quivered with wide, terrified eyes."For the destruction of the sacred Moon-Blessed Harness, treasonous disrespect toward elders, and gross abuse of pack authority," Alpha Edward declared, his voice booming off the vaulted stone ceilings, "Nyxen is sentenced to three months in the deep subterranean dungeons, followed by perpetual labor in the border iron mines."Nyxen gasped, his face draining of all color. "Father—no! You can't do this to me over a few old straps!""I am your Alpha, not your father, from this moment on," Edward growled, refusing to look at him.He sighed, “When I had lost my son, I dared put you in my Luna's lap to console her grieving wolf… I regret doin

Nyxen dragged himself up against the cold balustrade, his breath coming in jagged, desperate gasps. Even with Alieus’s towering shadow casting over him, the madness in his eyes hadn't entirely faded. He looked at Alieus, the fear he always had in his eyes gone and replaced by pure fury and jealousy. “You stay out of it, Uncle.” He spat, “Don't flatter yourself too much. Lucy is only mating with you to provoke me. She trails around me like a dog; there is no way she would choose anyone else except me.” He then turned to me, his voice dropping from a growl into a ragged, pathetic plea. "You’re making a mistake, Lucy. You’re confused because you're angry at me. We were supposed to be the future of this pack! Think about everything we planned—the legacy, the throne! My uncle is just taking advantage of your spite. Look at me, Lucy. Tell me you can really just throw us away for him!"I didn't flinch. I didn't step back. I simply looked at him, feeling nothing but a profound, hollow pity f

Alpha Edward requested my parents and me to stay in their pack’s guest wing till the day of the Blood Moon. He also promised to help his pack's priest prepare another sacred harness for our mating ceremony that is no less sacred than the earlier one.I was more than content with the love and care I had been getting in this life I lacked in my previous life. In my previous life, even after I cried in the ocean, Nyxen remained indifferent and only offered me an iron chain in its place. While in this life, after I chose Alieus, the world seemed to be tilting around me.Later that night, as I stood on the balcony of my guest quarters, the heavy scent of crushed pine and ozone told me I was not alone.I didn't even need to turn around to know who had breached the perimeter guards."You must really have a death wish, Nyxen," I said, keeping my hands resting lightly on the cold stone railing. "Entering the future Luna’s private wing unannounced is grounds for execution.""Shut up, Lucy!"Nyxe

The silence that fell over the training grounds was so heavy you could hear the autumn leaves hitting the dirt.Nyxen’s smug smirk froze on his face. His eyes darted from his father to Alieus, then back to me, the color rapidly draining from his cheeks until he looked entirely ghost-white."W-what?" Nyxen stammered, his voice cracking. "Father... what are you talking about? She's my promised mate. She’s supposed to be my Luna!"Alpha Edward stood up, his towering form casting a dark shadow over his adopted son."You fool," Edward growled, his voice vibrating with absolute disgust. "Did you truly believe a high-ranking pack's heiress would bow to your arrogance after the way you've paraded another female around? Lucy exercised her ancestral right to reject you the moment you breached pack conduct. She chose Alieus three days ago—a choice fully backed by her parents, myself, and the Elders."Beside Nyxen, Aphra’s triumphant posture completely collapsed. The phone slipped from her trembli

Nyxen’s face contorted with rage, his grip tightening on my arm until it bruised. "You should know your limits!"Aphra suddenly stepped out from behind the training shed, letting out a soft, mocking sigh as she placed a comforting hand on Nyxen’s tense forearm."Lucy just wants your attention, Nyxen. Stop wasting your energy on her," she purred, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Then, she pulled out her phone and held it up for the surrounding pack members to see. "Look, everyone. This is the new training obstacle I built for my tracking pup. Isn't it clever?"I narrowed my eyes at the screen. The smooth, obsidian stone base and the intricate silver-runed binding leather used to secure the hurdles looked texturally and elementally unique."Where did you get the leather and the runed stone for that?" I asked, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper."Oh, I found an old crate of ceremonial binding regalia in Nyxen’s pack-house quarters," Aphra replied smugly, tilting her chin up. "I
