Claire didn’t hide as I snicker as I gathered my laptop and documents into my bag before Ben and I hurried out of the room following Chris

The Chairman had a mean scowl on his face as we exited, it was obvious he was never going to award us the contract, he resented Chris for some reason and just wanted to humiliate him.

To my surprise, Chris was standing by the elevator waiting for us. With the way he stormed out of the room, I was expecting him to be gone already or at least be in the car.

“Took you both long enough” he said with a smirk on his face and pressed the elevator button.

The anger I saw earlier in the face was missing, he wasn’t exactly smiling but he didn’t look angry either but I didn’t say or do anything.

An angry Chris would say something to reprimand me the moment I got close to him but instead he was just humming a tune, nodding his head in unison as the elevator descended.

Perhaps this was how we contained his anger, it’s probably a process to kee
