He tried again, and still, nothing.

On the third try, the car finally roared to life. Landon breathed a sigh of relief. He knew he had to get to the nearest petrol station as soon as possible, as the fuel gauge indicated that it was running low and would not last more than half an hour.

Taking a deep breath, Landon said a silent prayer and pressed down on the accelerator.

The murder was a chaotic affair yet executed with precision. Shards of glass littered the scene, leaving little in the way of clues. However, a constable stumbled upon a small three-centimeter blade, believed to be the murder weapon used on Miss Laurie. The blade bore the tell-tale signs of blood, dried and caked onto its surface, silently resting on the floor beside the bed.
