Vienna’s POV

“She’s had that habit since puberty,” Warren shrugged, his eyes fixed on the road. “The whole foot thing. She used to do it as a prank to annoy me during family dinners. I guess I just got used to it.”

A cold shiver ran up my spine. Used to it?

“So she’s been foot-flirting with you for years?” I asked quietly, unable to keep the edge from my voice.

“She’s not flirting,” he said, exasperated. “She’s just… tactile.”

“Tactile?” I repeated, incredulous. “Warren, she slid her foot up your leg under the table. That’s not being playful. That’s not a joke. That’s an adult woman making a move on her married stepbrother.”

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “You’re reading too much into it.”

I stared out the window, my heart thudding wildly. How many times had it happened? While I was sitting next to them? While we were dating? Engaged? Married?

I swallowed hard, choosing my words carefully. “Even if you’ve brushed it off before, the fact is we’re married now. And a prank fro

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 123 - One Step Behind

Warren’s POVThe rental car sped down the freeway. The tires hummed against the asphalt as the words from the earlier phone call echoed over and over in my head: "I have some news I think you need to hear…"The second the call ended, I’d spun on my heel and barked at Desiree, "Take my stuff home for me. I’m leaving."She blinked in confusion. "What? Where are you going?"But I was already halfway out the door, ordering the first rental car available. A compact sedan. Pathetic compared to my usual lineup of sports cars, but I didn’t care. I just needed to move.I gripped the steering wheel tight and slammed my foot down harder on the gas. "Come on. Come on," I muttered, willing the car to go faster. The freeway blurred past me, signs flying by unread. My chest tightened more with every mile.By the time I screeched into the airport parking lot, I was a mess. Sweaty, breathless, desperate. I barely remembered to lock the car before sprinting through the sliding glass doors. My shoes thu

Vienna’s POVPassport? Check. Wallet? Check.I ran through my packing list for the third time, my fingers trembling slightly as I zipped my suitcase shut. I was really doing this. Leaving everything behind. Starting over on the other side of the world.Bella stood by the door, blinking ferociously. Then, in a sudden burst of emotion, she pulled me into a tight hug."Don’t you dare forget about me, V," she whispered, her voice thick. "You better call me the moment you land."I nodded into her shoulder. "I promise. Thank you. For everything. I couldn’t have done any of this without you."She pulled back, swiping at her eyes, and then gave me a mischievous wink. "Oh, and… I might have a little surprise for you."I blinked. "A surprise?""You’ll see," she said airily, shooing me toward the door. "Now go chase that Parisian dream."Still puzzled, I climbed into the car waiting out front. Fred was behind the wheel, and Harold sat in the passenger seat. They both turned to greet me with warm

Warren’s POVIt was our final day at Evervale Heights.Desiree had recovered miraculously fast. According to the doctors, her vitals were stable, her wrist had healed well enough, and she’d been cleared for all normal activities again. It felt surreal, how quickly she'd bounced back from the brink of death. Meanwhile, I was anything but recovered. Each day without Vienna felt heavier than the last. I kept telling myself it would fade. That the pain would dull. But all I felt was this… hollow ache. Like my heart had been ripped out and I was too numb to stop the bleeding.Of course, Desiree had taken it upon herself to fill that space."Let's play a game of tennis," she chirped, striding into the lounge area with a racket in hand. "Come on, it'll help shake off the funk. You could use the distraction."I arched a brow, barely looking up from the spot on the wall I’d been blankly staring at for the past fifteen minutes. "You sure your wrist’s ready for that?"She scoffed lightly and w

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 120 - Last Supper

Vienna’s POVHarold, clearly trying to ease the tension in the air, said with a smile, "Why don’t we all have dinner together—just the three of us—before Vienna heads off to Paris? A proper sendoff."Fred and I exchanged a look. It was still strange, this new reality between us. But we both nodded."Alright," Fred said. "Let’s do it."We ended up at one of Taste Royalty’s newest restaurant ventures. A sleek, candlelit place with warm lighting and an open kitchen. Over the clinking of silverware and murmured conversation, we spoke about everything. The past, the wild twist of fate that connected us, and what the future might now hold.Fred stirred his risotto, then glanced up at me. "I still can’t believe you’re actually… my sister."I gave him a small smile, equally bewildered. "Tell me about it. Yesterday we were coworkers and… whatever else people thought we were. Today? Blood-related."Harold chuckled gently and leaned back in his chair, his face soft with affection. "Life is stran

Vienna’s POVFred staggered back a step, as if the air had been punched out of him. His lips parted, but no words came. His gaze flitted wildly between Harold and me. Confusion, disbelief and betrayal all swirled in his eyes."So that’s why you were so weird when you first saw her," he said with a hollow laugh, voice rising with every word. "It wasn’t because of Ashley. It was because you cheated on Mom.""Fred, no. You don’t understand. I would never—" Harold tried. But Fred turned abruptly, pacing away with both hands clutched in his hair. "Jesus Christ…" he muttered under his breath, "This is insane."Harold and I shared a helpless, panicked glance. Then, I rushed after him. "Fred, wait! Please!"Fred’s father—our father—followed on our heels, speaking hurriedly. "Son, listen to me. I was going to tell you. Just not like this. It’s all so new. I needed some time to process it."Fred spun around, eyes blazing with fury. "Can we not talk publicly at my restaurant, Dad?" he hissed. "I

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 118 - Boxes & Bloodlines

Vienna’s POVI let myself into Warren’s villa using the spare key hidden under the stone planter. The Hales were still away on their little "family holiday," which made this the perfect time to retrieve my things without a confrontation. The air inside was quiet and cold. I walked through the familiar rooms. Each one echoed with too many memories, both sweet and bitter. I didn't linger. I couldn’t afford to.I moved quickly, packing everything into labeled boxes and bags. The moving company I’d hired showed up right on time, and the workers began hauling my things out the front door one by one. I stood at the threshold, arms crossed, watching as the last remnants of my life with Warren were carried away.Just then, my phone buzzed. I glanced down and saw my lawyer’s name on the screen."Hello?""Miss Vienna," the lawyer said smoothly, "Warren Hale has signed the divorce papers. The certificate will be faxed over shortly."I closed my eyes and let out a long, quiet breath. "Excellent,"
