Elena’s POV

“She’s not going anywhere.”

Andrew’s voice penetrated the fog in my mind. I turned from the window to Andrew standing between his mother and me, his shoulders set against us like a barrier.

Luna Margaret’s perfectly painted lips squeezed into a thin line. “Don’t be foolish, Andrew. This is the only way to avoid bloodshed.”

“The only way?” He laughed, and it was sharp and bitter. “Or possibly the most convenient method of ridding oneself of the mate one never wanted me to have?”
