My heart was beating so hard in my chest that the fear of her rejecting me shattered my heart into pieces. But, knowing how she was when we were still together, she would be moved by this.

“I am back for you and I know that my presenting a basket of chocolates seems weird to you. But when I was trying to retrace my steps, I suddenly remembered that you and our son, Zack always loved this and……”

Before I could complete my words, a bitter scoff left her lips as she hit her hands against the other sarcastically. “Our son?”

“What do you mean by our son?” The anger that blazed in her eyes took me aback.

“Zack!”

She ran her hands through her hair like she was about to go crazy. “When he was alive, you weren't his father, you denied that boy so many times, mistreated him, and even in death, you ridiculed him. So, you calling him your son is what I don't understand”

I hung my head low in despair, my past flashing through my eyes. “I know that you hate me and……”
