Chapter 9

With one swift move, Gu Mocheng had pinned Jian Jianan against the sickbed - less than one meter wide. Their bodies were pressed close together, without any space in between.

Gu Mocheng’s full weight rested on Jian Jianan. Her face was flushed with red as she started to find it hard to breathe, “Hey… cough cough… You’re too heavy, it hurts!”

His cold gaze was intense as he said, “From the way you were teasing me, I thought that this was what you wanted? What’s the matter? Are you trying to play hard to get?”

Jian Jianan mentally cursed, but she wore a charming smile as she wrapped her delicate arms around Gu Mocheng’s neck. She closed in, replying, “How is this playing hard to get? My intentions are clear. I want you, but I’m not really keen to have our first time on a bed this small. I’m worried there isn’t enough space to fully satisfy our needs. That’s why I was thinking of going to another location. What about your dorm… argh… it hurts… argh…”

Gu Mocheng had gotten hold of Jian Jianan’s injured wrist, his thumb pressed against her wound. The shock of pain caused a cold sweat to break across Jian Jianan’s skin.

Gu Mocheng yanked Jian Jianan away, devoid of any sympathy. He stared down at her and said, “Neither your face or body turns me on. In fact, you nauseate me.”

Gu Mocheng continued as if he did not notice the slight change in Jian Jianan’s expression.“Listen very carefully to what I’m about to say. The engagement between us was decided by our parents and against my will. You got exactly what you wanted stretching so far as to attempt suicide just to break off it off. If you have any sense, I never want to see you from now on. Whatever your intentions are, I’m not interested. I don’t want to see you anymore!”

Gu Mocheng left, but this time, Jian Jianan did not hold him back. Jian Jianan knew that he was really angry this time. It would strain their relationship even more if she shamelessly threw herself onto him. That, and her wrist was in excruciating pain!

That b*stard, Gu Mocheng! How could he say she did not not turn him on!

Ha… This was just great. The way he acted ignited her desire to chase him even more.

Jian Jianan did not stay any longer at the military camp. Her driver came by, and sent her home.

Just as the car parked in front of the mansion, a shadow appeared before Jian Jianan right as she disembarked. Before she could look to see who this person was, she was brought into a tight embrace by a pair of strong arms.

“Nannan, I’m so sorry for being late…”

Jian Jianan’s body froze. The blood drained from her face as she recognized the familiar voice and the strong embrace.

Xiao! Yi! Han!

In a split second, Jian Jianan gathered all the strength in her body and shoved Xiao Yihan away. He was not prepared for such a powerful reaction - not from Jian Jianan. He stumbled backward a few steps before he found his balance.

Xiao Yihan was baffled, and could only stare at Jian Jianan’s ashen face. A glint of darkness flashed across his eyes. In a few seconds, he rushed towards Jian Jianan, his face worried. When he saw blood seeping from Jian Jianan’s left wrist, the corners of his mouth curved into a barely-noticeable smirk.

“Nannan, your wrist is bleeding. I’m taking you to the hospital!”

Xiao Yihan went to hold Jian Jianan’s shoulder, but she shied coldly away from him.

Jian Jianan looked at the man in front of her with an icy gaze. She could feel pain in almost every single cell in her body.

Even in this blessing of a new life, she could picture Xiao Yihan holding the scalpel, slashing her abdomen, gouging out her eyes. She could still feel the stabbing pain in both those areas.

Looking at how worried he seemed, she could have been fooled if she knew nothing of his true colors. That was how she was tricked into believing he was a good man. That was what led to the death of her father in her past life.

“What are you doing here?”

Jian Jianan’s voice was colder than the icebergs of the North Pole. She glared at Xiao Yihan with a razor-sharp hate-filled stare. She looked like she was going to tear Xiao Yihan into pieces.

Xiao Yihan was under the impression that Jian Jianan was upset because he was not by her side when she had attempted her suicide. So, he only feigned guilt and said, “Nannan, I’m sorry that I wasn’t around when it happened. But, you knew that I was volunteering at the free clinic. The hospital arranged it - ordered by the director himself. I had to go. How could you be so reckless and hurt yourself? Do you know how afraid and worried I was when I heard that you tried to kill yourself? I wanted to visit you, but the hospital wouldn’t allow me to leave. I came straight here after I got off my flight. I didn’t even stopping to take a sip of water…”
