“This training is going to be harder than I thought,” Kalen thought, as he walked through the forest looking for a place to wash the blood off his body and clothes. After about twenty minutes of walking, he found a stream nearby. He subconsciously looked around the area for any kind of threat. He quickly rushed up to the water as soon as he noticed he was in the clear.
“These four days remaining are going to be a pain in the ass,” he thought out loud.
He looked to his right, and he was shocked to find a jackfruit tree. He eyes brightened immediately. “Thank you, God. There is something to eat beside meat. He brought his dagger and climbed the tree for the fruit while staying alert.
“I can’t let my guard down. My life is more important than this fruit. He knew that if he let his guard down like a fool that was hungry, he could be attacked and killed. Suddenly he thought about his friend Aledos, as he probably in same situation as him.
“Make it through this brother. You are not allowed to die yet as we are going to become true Knights of Camelot.”
Once he reached the jackfruit. He decided to rest on the branch of the tree to rest. He checked his injury from the augmented tigon.
His wound was almost healed. “Got to love being augmented. I don’t even feel the pain anymore.” The rest of the day went uneventfully, as he stuffed himself full of meat and fruits. Once night fell, he made camp as it was the most convenient place he found in the forest.
“Jack tree, it must have been fate for me to find you. I hope this can be the start of a great relationship, you provide food for the great Knight General Kalen as he protects you from thieves.” He shamelessly blurted out a bunch of nonsense to a tree. It helps justify his decision and conscience to stay there.
Screw the experience, God led him to a comfortable place. “Don’t worry. I will enjoy your fruits while I am here.”
He started to feel sleepy as his belly was full of all the meat and fruit he ate. “It is evening already, I guess it is time for me to sleep.” That is what he did. He just watched the jack tree as his eyes closed.
****************
Kalen wake up the next day and decided to train around the vicinity of the jack tree. He trained hard as he massacred any creature that was around the jack tree. He used them as practice targets for his training.
There were a few times he came close to death, as he faces few strong predators. He made it through these by increasing his battle experience. He did this routine for the next three days.
****************
He woke up on the last day of training feeling revitalized and fresh. The only setback was his smelling body. He refused to remove his uniform to have a proper bath in the last few days.
“He didn’t know what lurked in the depths of the stream or if any strong augmented beasts would adventure towards the stream.” This was the reason he came himself. “At least this part of the training is finished. I wonder what is next for us.” He wonders out loud.
“I survived this ordeal. Who cares about body odor? That is a girl’s problem, I’m a man.”
He sat down at the foot of the jack tree waiting. He was not anxious as he knew that the military placed a GPS tracker. Every squire as received one during their implant operation.
Whop! Whop! Whop! Kalen looked up through the tress once he heard the helicopter. It landed in a clearing that was about hundred yards from Kalen position. He stood up and jogged over to the helicopter. He immediately saluted the Sergeant.
“Good morning, sir,” he greeted.
“Good morning squire, climb in.” The sergeant didn’t waste any time with words, as he invited Kalen in. Kalen didn’t hesitate either, immediately climbed in.
The helicopter took off to the base, he silently heaved a sigh of relief as his first phase of training was complete.
After he got into the helicopter, he began looking around for his friend. He finally found him in the corner giving him the biggest grin. Aledos nodded at him with a smile and, he smiled and returned the nod.
He felt relaxed and happy. He felt a huge weight was lifted off his chest has knowing they both survived.
He later found out that everyone in his group survived. He knew this a miracle, as everyone was not as exceptional as him and Aledos is.
Once they reached the base, the first thing both did was search the line of people for someone. Kalen saw him in the forefront of the line. Haywoode, looked more mature than five days ago.
“I am going to be the best squire out of this batch of squires,” he silently encouraged himself. This was something that he kept to himself, not even his friend knew about this.
Knight Captain Reede broke him out of his thoughts, with his loud voice.
“Squires,” he boomed; “I am glad to see that 280 squires from the original 300 came back to us.”
“That is amazing results. I am happy, so today everyone gets a free rest day.” He smiled, which didn’t help in lightening the mood, as it made him even more ferocious and ugly.
No one dare say anything to him about it. He was the knight captain after all. “I bet only his future wife, will be the only one to tell him to his face,” Kalen thought mischievously.
He felt relief that they might have to drill all day if they performed poorly.
“Rest and prepare yourself today, because your suffering continues tomorrow," Knight Captain Reede said with a grin. “The government is providing everyone with 1000 Commonwealth credit. Take the credits to buy some beer, food or go enjoy yourself,” he continued.
“Dismissed.” The squires saluted and left the field in an orderly fashion.
Kalen grouped up with Aledos as everyone was leaving. “Aledos, I can’t believe that the government is giving us 1000 credits, that is so awesome. Let’s add it to our savings so that we get more money for our gear after we become Knights.” He muttered excitedly.
“I agree. I will give you, my credits. Let’s go get some normal food at the dining hall,” Aledos replied.
“Kalen, how was it out there?” Aledos suddenly asked as they were walking. “The adventure out in the forest. You know what I mean,” he clarified.
“Oh that? You know me. I bulldozed my way through that place, by killing plenty of animals. I even killed a Tyrannous Rex. This training was too simple and easy. That I didn’t get enough to stretch my muscles,” Kalen said with a straight face.
“Sure, I know Kalen. I know that the T-Rex you faced was your grandpa, right? You must have brutalized him.” Aledos replied, while also keeping a straight face.
"Fuck off, Aledos," Kalen said as he bumped into his friend.
Bzzzt!! Bzzzt!! Kalen woke up top hear his alarm going off on his phone. “Damn, it’s 6am already. I didn’t get enough sleep last night,” he grumbled as he quickly got up. He showered and brushed his teeth.Twenty minutes later, he was dressed in his new military uniform that was provided yesterday. He strapped on his sword and daggers, and ready to face this new challenge. He left his room surprised that Aledos was not waiting for him. He is usually up before him.“What happened to this fool now?” He questioned as he went to his friend’s room. “I can’t believe he is still sleeping. He reached Aledos’s room in about 15 seconds.Boom! Boom! Boom! He banged on his friend’s door as he called out, “Hey dumbass, what the hell are you doing in there?”“Alright, you can stop banging on my door. I just woke up late. I’ll be there in a minute,” Aledos yelled to his friend.“I said it, when the sun rises normal people respond fast to get up. But you my friend are slow as a snail. What a bad infl
After 30 minutes, were one of the first groups to be dropped off within the mountainous region of the forest reserves. As soon as Kalen landed, he surveyed the area to make sure there was no immediate danger. “This will work for us. We can see far and have more obstacles to take cover,” he told his friend, who also surveying the area. “Kalen, I want us to dominate this competition. Let’s find a place to set our camp and defensives before we scout the area.” Aledos said in a calm tone, as he turned to look at his friend. Kalen grunted in reply, as they quickly found a cliff that gave them plenty of cover from the exobeasts. The friends dropped their gear and went out to prepare their defenses. They decided that Kalen would wield the sniper, as he was a better marksman than his friend. They knew that Aledos can’t shoot to save his life. He has poor accuracy. They quickly set up their makeshift perimeter without any delays. They settled down, and Aledos decided to go into the forest
Aledos woke up and looked around, “where am I?” He asked out loud as he tried to stand up, which brought on a wave of dizziness to him. He touched his head and felt the cloth bandage. He began to recall what happened to him.He sighed as he glanced outside. “It’s already evening, I wonder where Kalen went to.During the construction of their make-shift residence, they placed rocks to form a cave before their encounter with the exobeast. He went out of the tent to see his friend sitting beside the fire roasting some meat.“Looks who is wake? Bro, how’s your head?” Kalen asked as he casually munched on his meat.“I am not sure to be honest. I still feeling little dizzy though.” Aledos replied as he supported his head with his palm.“Man, you are tough as hell. Come and eat some roasted meat. While you were sleeping, I killed an antelope. It is so good, come and eat,” Kalen said with a smile.“Alright,” Aledos replied as he moved forward. He felt the wave of hunger as he smelled the meat
Aledos Hawke woke up to see that the sun arisen. He could see the sun rays filter into the cave. He admired the rays as his eyes adjust to the light. He checked the watch on his wrist to see it was already 7am. “Why haven’t that fool wake me up already?” He cursed as he quickly got up and made his way outside. He saw Kalen already up and he was doing some pushups. “I can’t believe this asshole. He does these pushups daily so he can keep his 8 pack, just to impress the ladies. F**k!” Aledos cursed as he watched his friend. "Aledos, you awake. I thought you will be sleeping all day. You would have missed a fun day. Good morning, dumbass.” Kalen got up to greet his friend properly. “Kalen, you better watch it. My head injury healed, so don’t try me. I can still kick your ass if you call me a dumbass again,” Aledos while giving his friend the evil eye. “Damn, Aledos. You are such ungrateful bastard. I was so nice of enough to protect you throughout the night. I even prepared you a ni
The vine was stretched thin as it held the spears in place. With just one laser beam it snapped.BOOM!!!! Kalen saw his hard work go into use. The handmade spears shot up quickly. They didn’t have the same force as the used by the Camelot army, but they still get the job done. They would still inflict enough damage to the sabretooth. The sabretooth sensed the danger it was about to enter. It tried its best to avoid the trap, but it was too late. The spears impaled themselves into its exposed belly. It roars in rage and pain as it felt its bowels and blood flowed out from the wounds.Due to the force and momentum the sabretooth was moving, the spears caused some massive damage to it. The sabretooth was impaled on its belly to its leg.Kalen did not underestimate the sabretooth, knowing it will do it best to get out and continue to attack. He leaped into the air as the sabretooth was falling into the spears stabbing it in the neck with his sword.Blood rained down onto Kalen and the gro
Kalen woke up feeling refreshed. He dreamt of food that would make any person mouth drool. He felt like an emperor watching this most stunning woman served him variety of food and drinks. He woke up and was disappointed not see himself inside of a luxurious palace and no beautiful woman, but the tent they put up with his friend.“That sucks! Why does life hate me so much? I just want something amazing,” he thought in resignation.“One day I will become something like an emperor and have the most beautiful woman that the world has ever seen.” He could not remember most of his dreams, but for some reason he remembers this one and the one he had on the first day of advanced training.Since he was small boy, he always had dreams that were unique. It is said that people dream is meaningful, as they sort out personal conflicts and emotional struggles that they experience within their daily lives. It is backed by science. Kalen always wonder what his dreams are about or come it something dif
They journeyed for hours within the mountainous region. They tried to make themselves as inconspicuous as possible, as they can’t account for all the dangers within the region. They didn’t want to encounter any beasts that were not exobeasts, as the exobeasts were their focus. They would rest throughout the hike and eat the meat they packed away in their bags to regain their energy.“Damn, man I didn’t think this rocky territory was so huge. We left the forest ages ago. It is almost evening and we have yet to find another terrain to hunt in.,” Aledos grumbled in frustration.Kalen laughed at the way his friend was acting, but knew he felt helpless in helping his friend. “I do hope we can find another terrain to hunt in soon,” Kalen muttered. They camped under the stars and would continue to their hike in the morning. They continued their hike, when Aledos suddenly bumped into his friend on the shoulders excitedly. Kalen almost fell to the ground from the force.Kalen was about to comp
Was it too late? Maybe it was. Aledos thought as he saw the exobeast charged towards him, displaying its enhanced speed. Aledos felt flashbacks emerged into head, as he recalled information about the rage awakening.Information is power, if you can get information about your opponent, that means you are halfway to defeating your opponent. The rage awakening is the state an exobeast can enter if it gets agitated and angered to a point of no return. Once this transformation happens, the exobeast will receive a special surge of adrenaline. This adrenaline would increase the exobeast strength, lethality, aggression, speed and other attributes. This awakening allows the exobeast to possess a special strength, in form of pressure. The area that surrounds the exobeast would produce a great pressure. This would affect the enemies psychologically, making them lose their abilities to fight. This awakening is something hard to achieve as it requires several conditions to be met before it is awak
