Aria didn’t slow down after reversing out of the space, she straightened the wheel in one quick motion and pushed forward again like the only thing that mattered was getting out of that structure before it closed in on her, since staying there any longer would give them exactly what they wanted, a controlled environment with limited exits and too many blind spots, and she wasn’t about to let that happen while she still had movement on her side.

“Left ramp,” Sebastian said immediately, his voice sharper now, more focused than before like whatever distance he had earlier was gone and replaced by something closer to urgency, and that alone told her how serious this had just become, she didn’t question it or hesitate, she turned exactly where he said, the tires gripping slightly as she took the curve faster than she normally would since slowing down now wasn’t an option, not with the black car behind her dropping any act of blending in and moving with clear intent.

“They’re closing,” she said, her eyes flicking once to the mirror before locking forward again since tracking them too much would only distract her from what was ahead and right now she needed both.

“I know,” he replied, this time there was no calm in it, just direct focus, “don’t give them a straight line."

she understood that immediately, a straight line meant speed, and speed meant they could catch up without effort, so instead of pushing forward blindly she adjusted, taking the next turn inside the structure before the ramp fully opened and cutting through another level instead of heading straight out.

“That wasn’t the exit,” he said, “I’m not giving them one,” she replied, and there was a brief pause on his end, not hesitation but recalculating, then he adjusted instantly, “fine, second ramp ahead, tighter turn, take it fast,” and she followed it without delay or second guessing, at this point the only thing that mattered was staying ahead, the moment she hit that turn she felt the car shift under her, the speed pressing slightly against control but not enough to lose it, while behind her, the sound of another car following too fast echoed just enough to confirm they were still right there.

“They’re not slowing,” she said, “they won’t,” he replied, and that confirmed it, this wasn’t just pressure anymore, it was intent, her hands stayed steady on the wheel, her movements controlled even as everything around her sped up, panic would slow her down and slowing down would end this faster than she wanted.

“Exit ahead,” Sebastian said, and she saw it immediately, light cutting through from outside with cars moving normally on the street beyond, everything looking regular in a way that didn’t match what was happening inside, “take it,” he added,.. she did without hesitation, fast and straight out into the open, the sudden shift from enclosed space to open road hitting instantly as her eyes adjusted while she merged into traffic without stopping since stopping now would be the worst decision she could make.

The car behind her followed, still there, still locked on her, “they’re not dropping,” she said, “I didn’t expect them to,” he replied, that didn’t help, but it told her what she needed to know, this wasn’t ending quickly.

“where am I going,” she asked, there was a short silence before he answered, “toward me,” and that made her pause internally, not enough to affect her driving but enough to notice, “and where is that,” she asked, “keep going straight,” he replied, avoiding it again.

She didn’t push it, not yet, since location mattered less than movement right now, traffic built slightly ahead, not heavy enough to stop her but enough to slow things down, and that was a problem since speed was the only advantage she had and losing it meant losing distance, “switch lanes,” Sebastian said, she did smoothly, controlled, blending in just enough to avoid attention while still moving faster than the rest, but the car behind her matched every move, every shift, like it was locked onto her.

“They’re locked in,” she said, “yes,” he replied, and her grip tightened slightly since that confirmed it, they weren’t guessing or adjusting randomly, they were following with purpose, and that meant they wouldn’t stop until something forced them to.

Her phone buzzed again, she didn’t look, “ignore it,” Sebastian said, “I am,” she replied, the buzzing stopped then came again stronger and more insistent, this time she glanced at it and saw the same unknown number with another message, she caught it before she could stop herself, stop running, and she didn’t, instead her foot pressed down slightly more.

“They’re texting again,” she said, “I know,” he replied, “how do you know everything,” she asked since that question wasn’t optional anymore, no answer came, just that same silence and gap before he said, “focus on driving,” and that wasn’t enough but she let it go since pushing for answers now would cost her attention, and attention was the only thing keeping her ahead.

The road opened slightly ahead with less traffic and more space, and for a moment it felt like she had room again, like she could create distance if she pushed just a little harder.

“Now!,” Sebastian said, and she pressed down, the car surged forward cutting through the space before it closed again, gaining just enough distance to break the pattern and force them to react instead of predict, but the car behind accelerated fast and matched her again.

“They’re not falling back,” she said, “they won’t,” he replied, same answer, same certainty, “then what’s the plan,” she asked, silence followed, longer this time and not good, “Sebastian,” she said, “I’m here,” he replied, “that’s not what I asked,” she said, another pause, then he spoke, “you’re not going to like it,” and that wasn’t new, “I already don’t,” she replied.

“Then listen,” he said, his tone shifting sharper and more direct, “you need to let them get close,” her grip tightened instantly, “no,” she said, “it’s the only way,” he replied, “that’s not happening,” she said more firmly, “if they stay at distance they control the pace, if they get close I control it,” he said, and that made her pause, not fully but enough, since that meant something else was already in place.

“Explain that,” she said, “not over the phone,” he replied, same refusal again, “that’s not good enough,” she said, “it’s all you’re getting,” he replied, and her jaw tightened since this was the same pattern, him knowing more, saying less, controlling the situation without giving her everything she needed, and right now that wasn’t just frustrating, it was dangerous.

“They’re getting closer anyway,” she said, “I know,” he replied, she checked the mirror again and saw it clearly now, the gap was smaller, not by much but enough to matter, “they’re almost on me,” she said, “good,” he replied, and that didn’t sit right at all, “good for who,” she asked, silence followed, then, “for me.”

And just like that she understood something she hadn’t fully seen before, this wasn’t just her being chased, this was something he was already using.

Before she could respond, before she could push back or question it again, something changed ahead, not behind, not beside, ahead, a black SUV cut into the road in front of her fast and too fast, blocking just enough space to force her to react, her foot hitting the brake slightly, not enough to stop completely but enough to avoid collision, and in that moment everything tightened since this wasn’t just following anymore, this was coordination.

“They’re boxing me in,” she said, “yes,” Sebastian replied, no surprise, no confusion, just confirmation, her eyes moved quickly, front, mirror, side, calculating space, distance, options since this was the moment where movement mattered more than anything else.

“Now what,” she asked, and this time there was no pause, no hesitation, just one answer.

“Now you trust me.”

The moment she turned and saw him standing there, nothing about the situation stayed the same, because this wasn’t just another person stepping into something already out of control, this was someone who wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near it, someone who belonged to a part of her life that had nothing to do with this, and yet the way he stood there, shoulders tight, eyes locked on her like he had been looking for her for far too long, made it clear that whatever this was had already reached further than she thought.“You shouldn’t be here,” she said before she could stop it, her voice sharper than before, not controlled the way it had been moments ago, because this wasn’t a calculated reaction, this was instinct, immediate and unfiltered. He didn’t answer right away, didn’t move closer either, just held her in his gaze like he was making sure she was real, like he needed that confirmation before anything else mattered, and when he finally stepped forward it wasn’t hesitant, it wasn’t

The car didn’t move again after the spin, the engine still running but everything else around her settling into a stillness that didn’t match what had just happened, and for a second the silence pressed harder than the impact did, because this wasn’t the kind of pause that meant recovery, it was the kind that meant something else had already taken control of the situation. Her hands stayed on the wheel a moment longer before she forced them to loosen, not fully relaxing, just enough to shift her attention forward, because the car ahead had already stopped moving and the door that opened hadn’t closed again.“Sebastian,” she said, her voice lower now, more controlled, because this wasn’t the part where she waited for instructions anymore. No answer. That alone changed something. Her jaw tightened slightly as she pushed the door open and stepped out, not slowly, not cautiously, just direct, because staying inside the car didn’t mean safety anymore and she was done pretending it did, and

The second impact didn’t give her time to recover from the first, because the moment the car shifted from the hit behind her, the force from the side slammed into it again, harder this time, throwing the balance off completely and forcing the entire body of the car to jerk in a way that made control feel like something she was losing by the second, and her hands reacted before her thoughts did, gripping the wheel tighter as she tried to steady it even though everything around her was already moving too fast to fully regain control.“Stay down,” Sebastian’s voice came through again, sharper now, not controlled the way it had been before, and that alone told her everything she needed to know, this part wasn’t his anymore. The car dragged slightly from the side impact, metal scraping against metal as whatever had hit her didn’t pull away immediately, didn’t correct, didn’t even slow properly, it just stayed, pressed long enough to force her off line before finally breaking away with a ha

The second car door opened and the moment shifted before she could even decide what to do with everything already in front of her, because the person stepping out didn’t move like someone walking into a controlled situation, and the second her eyes landed on him properly, recognition hit without delay in a way that didn’t fit into anything she had been trying to make sense of.“You,” she said before she could stop it, her voice low but clear enough, because seeing him here didn’t match anything about the setup around her, not with the road blocked, not with the men already in place, not with Sebastian still on the line giving instructions like he was the one in control. He didn’t react the way he should have, didn’t pause, didn’t question it, he just closed the door behind him and looked straight at her like this was expected, like her being here was part of something already decided.“Thought you’d take longer,” he said, calm, like timing mattered more than everything else happening.

The door didn’t open immediately after he told her to do it, the engine still running beneath her while everything outside had already gone too still, too controlled, like the moment had been waiting for her to catch up to it, and even with her hand resting on the wheel and her eyes fixed forward, she could feel the man standing beside her window close enough to see every small detail in his expression without turning, and that instruction from Sebastian didn’t land like the others, it didn’t feel like direction or control, it felt final, like something that couldn’t be taken back once it was done, and the problem wasn’t choosing whether to listen or not, it was that both choices led somewhere she didn’t understand.“You heard him,” the man said quietly, his tone calm but firm like he wasn’t asking for permission and wasn’t expecting resistance, and the way he said it made it clear this wasn’t a moment he thought would take long. She kept her eyes forward for another second, her grip

  • SECOND CHOICE, FIRST REGRET: The Billionaires Private Regret   Chapter 15

The car didn’t slow down immediately even with the road blocked ahead, she kept the car moving just enough to hold onto control for a few more seconds because stopping felt final in a way she wasn’t ready to accept without understanding what she was stepping into, and the closer she got the clearer it became that the vehicles ahead weren’t there to slow her down but to end movement completely, positioned in a way that left no clean path through, no angle to slip past, no gap she could take without risking everything in one wrong move.“You said stop,” she said, her voice steady even as her grip tightened again, because if this was the point where everything shifted then she needed more than just that one word.“now,” Sebastian replied, his tone lower but more certain like this part mattered more than everything that led up to it, and she exhaled slowly, easing her foot off the pedal before pressing the brake, not hard, not sudden, just enough to bring the car down in a controlled way
