“Vicki,” I blinked, stupefied. Her arrival was the last thing I would have predicted. “What are you doing here?”

More importantly, who let her in?

“Vicki?” Patricia called from the bed. “Is that you?”

My best friend sounded relieved to hear the other she-wolf’s voice and I wondered how she would react if she knew just how two faced Vicki truly was.

Not only was she two-faced, she was also a scheming bitch, who got off on threats. She had all but ruined the last couple weeks of my life. Just staring at her made my blood boil.

“Hello sweetie,” Vicki tried to brush past me to get to Patricia but I refused to budge from the door. I didn’t realize I was deliberately blocking her from making her way inside the room until Patricia called my attention to it.

“Pearl?” she called out to me. “Can you let her through?”

“You knew she was coming?” I turned to face my best friend. She gave me a non-committal look.

“It’s Vicki. Come on. It’s no big deal. She’s always welcome here.”
