“Yes,” he answered as if it were the most normal thing in the world. “The other rooms were already taken. I actually made a reservation for three rooms, but there was a last-minute issue with another family, so the hotel had no choice but to give one of ours to them. They already apologized. I just let it go since it’s really not a big deal to me. No need to make a fuss over something so small.”

I glanced at Mom, hoping she’d back me up, but she just smiled at me.

I didn’t complain anymore. It looked like there was nothing I could do anyway.

I was the first to enter the room. I could feel Kayden quietly trailing behind me.

Mr. Salvador was right when he said that this room was spacious. There were two double beds with a nightstand between them, a huge window that looked out over the trees, and an en suite bathroom.

I had no idea how I managed to avoid looking at him or speaking to him despite sharing the same room. But then again, he didn’t try to talk to me either.

“Then do something about it,” I whispered, my voice hoarse.Even if I wanted to play hard to get, my body was screaming something else. I wanted him now… badly.A predatory smile spread across his face, deepening the lines around his eyes. He lowered his head, his breath hot against my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.“Oh, I intend to,” he murmured. He crashed his lips onto mine. It was a rough, as if he had been holding himself back for a long time. His tongue played with mine. I kissed him back with the same intensity. My hands landed in his hair, pulling him closer, desperate to erase the gap between us.Moans escaped my mouth. He broke the kiss, trailing his lips down my jawline, his teeth nipping at my skin, sending electric shocks through my body.Fuck!“God, you taste good,” he growled.I bit my bottom lip as I watched him scan my body, his gaze burning with desire. With our position right now, as if the arguments we had these past few days suddenly vanished. I went against

He went out a few minutes after we had an argument. We didn’t talk to each other again after that. I couldn’t help but curse him in my head when he went off with the guy again for the rest of the day. At every chance he got, he would either touch the guy’s arm, lean close, or look at me right after doing it.Damn it. Is he trying to make me jealous? And the worst part was that he was winning.I swear I was never the jealous type. But fuck it! My blood boils seeing them together. He had been assuming earlier that I was jealous, and now he was doing it again? Is he playing some kind of trick on me?By dinner time, I was seething. I tried to pretend I didn’t care, but even Mom noticed.“You sure you’re fine?” she asked while we were at the buffet line.I forced a smile. “Super fine.”“Because you look like you want to stab someone with a fork.”My grip on the utensils tightened. I couldn’t hide it anymore. When I returned to our table, I became even more irritated when I saw that the guy

I froze, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. Dave’s hand instantly retracted from my forehead as if burned.“Whoa, dude,” Dave said, raising both hands in mock surrender. “Relax.”But Kayden wasn’t looking at him anymore. Those dark eyes were already locked on me, as if I had just committed a betrayal worthy of execution. I could feel the intensity of his stare pressing down on my chest, making it harder to breathe.“Let’s go,” he ordered.I didn’t move. “No.”His jaw flexed, and before I could react, he closed the distance between us in three long strides. His hand shot out, gripping my wrist so tightly I felt my pulse throb against his palm.“Kayden—”“I said, let’s go.”“Let go of me!” I tried to yank my arm back, but his grip only tightened. His eyes flicked to Dave, who was watching the scene with a mix of confusion and defiance.“Do yourself a favor and stay out of this,” Kayden spat at him. “You have no idea who you’re dealing with.”“Maybe I don’t, but I don’t li

“What’s wrong?” Dave asked, probably noticing how my body suddenly tensed. He followed my gaze to see what I was looking at.I stayed frozen, eyes locked on Kayden as the dim glow of the bonfire cast flickering shadows across his face. His jaw was clenched, and his brows were furrowed in a dangerously dark scowl. Blood dripped from his fist, which was still clutching the shattered neck of a glass bottle. He didn’t even flinch.“Shit,” I whispered.Dave shifted beside me. “Is he… okay?”I couldn’t answer. Kayden didn’t say a word either. He just stared at me, as if he were about to lunge across the fire. But instead of coming closer, he turned on his heel and stormed off.He was fuming mad.As much as I wanted to chase after him and ask if he was okay, I couldn’t. Not with Dave here. It would be disrespectful to just leave him behind after accepting his invitation to hang out.Besides, I was still mad at Kayden. His bleeding hand wasn’t my fault. So why should I feel guilty? It’s not m

“Noah?” my mom’s voice called through the door. “Can I come in?”I shut my eyes and took a deep breath.Even though I wanted to be alone as of the moment, I still opened the door for her. Besides, I needed to tell her that Kayden had agreed to come on the trip. It’s the day after tomorrow. If he ever backs out because of what had happened to us earlier, he will only prove he can’t keep his word.“Come in,” I mumbled.I went back to my bed and sat down. When I looked at her, she was already frowning, concern written all over her face.“Are you okay?”“Yeah. Just a bit tired from work,” I lied. She let out a deep sigh, as if she already knew the real reason I wasn’t in the mood.“You and Kayden fought again, didn’t you?”I didn’t respond. She sat at the edge of my bed, clearly not wanting to push me, but also unable to just leave it alone.“Maria told me you came home really upset. I saw you storm out of his office, so I followed you here.”Good thing his office is soundproof. Otherwise
