36. Caught A Fever

"So you deceived him because you preferred not to harm him? How could you even consider deceiving him? The first time Adrian showed up, you should have informed him."

Laylah had a heartfelt conversation with Jerry after she insisted they leave the house for her driving lessons, but she still couldn't hold the steering wheel without fear.

She already had plans to meet Martin's daughter Emily, which prompted the idea of going out for her driving lesson.

"I couldn't confess that I met him a couple of times. I was the one who informed the Mayor that I spotted him first, there's no way he would believe I met him only once." Jerry seemed to be running a fever, which Laylah noticed but didn't mention. It was evident from his responses and his effort to stay awake.

Laylah stood up, brushed the dust off her pants, and extended her hands for him to grasp. He hesitated, unsure if he should take it, knowing it wouldn't be appropriate.

Liam is starting to develop feelings for her, and it wouldn't
