“Wow! Those are lovely.”

"Red roses, carnations, pingpong blooms, a dash of fresh eucalyptus, nicely bundled in pink wrap and neatly tied with a white ribbon, had just arrived on set.

Naturally, it instantly made a buzz, catching several eyes.

“Oh my! Lauren, you are so lucky. Just look at those flowers.” One of Lauren’s supermodel minions expressed excitement as the delivery guy walked further into the room.

As expected, everyone’s head turned to check the commotion. Some admired the beautiful flower arrangement, while a few were jealous of Lauren’s many admirers.

Nonetheless, there were still those who preferred to ignore the fuss as they continued with their business.

“I’m sorry, but this is not for Ms. Quinn.” The uniformed man, from a nearby famous flower shop, interrupted Lauren when she grabbed the bouquet.

The man quickly snatched the flowers back, stretching his neck and scanning his eyes across the room as if trying to find someone else.

The place suddenly grew silent

“It is official,” Anna announced amongst their group. “You are now Mrs. Charlene Saunders, wife of the formerly-notorious bachelor, Mr. Isaac Saunders.”Anna held out her phone so Charlie and the rest of the group could see the pictures of Charlie and Isaac that were circulating on every news website.“Shut up, Anna!” She tried to stop her friend from teasing her and showing more photos of her and her husband, depicted as the newly happily married couple. She remembered reporters taking photos as they entered the ballroom. No wonder they were already appearing on the latest news cycle. However, if it had been up to her, she would have preferred to fly under the radar and finish this contract without the whole world learning about her marriage to the famous Saunders’ heir. She vividly recalled the time when people learned about her breakup with Collin, the heir to the Harper Group. It triggered a barrage of negative comments that made her want to crawl under a rock and hide for weeks.

How did she end up in this situation again? She promised she would never put herself in this compromising and possibly heartbreaking position after her failed relationship. But damn! Here she was again. Falling! “Damn it, Charlie! You’re such a fool!” She mumbled in her low voice that she barely even heard it herself. Whatever made her think that she would ever have control of her life? Joke on her! How could she have let this happen? “Hey, Charlie, are you ready?” Finally, her husband appeared by the door, carrying three red roses in his left hand. But she could not see his other hand as he kept it behind his back. Three roses! Did it mean anything? Or was it just a kind gesture? An action that was expected from this so-called relationship. Whatever this was. “Yeah!” She popped her lips and checked her appearance in the mirror one last time. “Let me grab my things.” She hurriedly said, shoving her thoughts for later. She picked up her bag from the vanity table and turned

Black hair, neatly combed in a sleek pattern, and a beard trimmed to a perfect five o'clock shadow. Not his usual style, but tonight was special. The tailor-made black ensemble highlighted his toned body and even complemented his enigmatic eyes, which were as dark as the night sky. He looked like a gift, wrapped in a black tuxedo coat and tied with a neat little black bow. Exactly the look he was going for tonight, a charming debonaire with a mysterious flair. Tonight, of all nights, he had to look his absolute best. After all, the celebration, ongoing downstairs, was to honor him. Many had come to see him, as evidenced by the long line of cars dropping off successful business tycoons, influential politicians, famous artists, and the society’s elites at the front doorstep of his family home, just below the balcony of his bedroom. “You got this!” Isaac thought so to himself, watching his reflection in the mirror. So far, everything appeared immaculate. Not a hair on his head was ou

  • She's Trouble: His Bride with a Dollar Sign   68 - When it was time to leave?

“For heaven’s sake, Charlie.” She closed her eyes, covering her face with the pillow beside her, before shouting at the top of her lungs. Her head spun just thinking about yesterday’s event, especially last night. It felt like she had just had a roller coaster ride with the shitty things that happened. But that was just it. It had not been all that bad, as she thought of the highlights of the night. It might seem like a dream, but she knew quite well that it was not. Every kiss, caress, intense moment that sent her soaring to the heavens and burning in hell was all too real. “Damn, I am totally fuck.” Or rather, she was totally fucked. But that was not the real issue, as she thought of what was really bothering her. For her contract husband, last night was just sex. A way to blow off steam and those pent-up urges since they vowed to stay loyal to each other while married. “Of course, that made sense.” She mumbled. She could not be seen dating other men, much worse, sleeping with

Truce! Yeah! Once again, he had to apologize and declare a ceasefire with his wife, realizing he had made another mistake by behaving like an ass last night. “That was my bad,” Isaac admitted to himself while staring at the ceiling as he replayed yesterday’s event in his mind. After learning what happened to his wife, he felt guilty, which was uncharacteristic of his behavior. Usually, he would not bother himself with such theatrics and drama. But this time, it was different. “Don’t worry. I won’t let this happen again.” He swore as his eyes shifted to the woman who lay sleeping beside him on his bed. His fingers gently caressed her cheeks, moving from her cheekbones to her temple. Then, he carefully removed the strands of hair that partially covered her closed eyes, wondering when he would see those sparkling brown irises that had him spellbound and captivated. From this point on, he promised to do anything to protect her. He would not let the likes of Collin near her ever again

  • She's Trouble: His Bride with a Dollar Sign   66 - Turn out to be the savior and not the villain

Isaac immediately saw red upon seeing his wife kissed by what she called a childhood friend. He was instantly transformed into a raging bull with a red flag waving before his eyes. Usually, he hated losing control, especially over trivial matters. But at the moment, all he could think about was beating Matt to a pulp, not caring if he acted like a caveman. “What is wrong with you, Isaac?” She stopped him, blocking his path and holding on to him for dear life before he could lay a hand on her precious friend. She was not expecting that her husband would make a fuss over a friendly gesture. More surprisingly, what was it to him? It was not as if they were a real couple. They might have a contract, but it still did not mean that they were emotionally involved. At least, that was her understanding. What was wrong with him? That would be the million-dollar question of the day as Isaac stared between his wife and the man she was trying to protect from him. “What is wrong with me? I sh
