“Draven?” Her voice shook. Loud, desperate, broken.

Both Draven and Alice stared at her. Blank, no emotion. As if she was the intruder. A if she hadn’t just walked in on her husband fucking her friend.

“Cat,” Draven pulled his pants up, walking towards her. Her placed his arm on her shoulder. But she moved back instantly.

“DON’T TOUCH ME!” She yelled. “Draven explain what is going on here,” her eyes were blood shot red, her fingers were trembling. She knew exactly what was going on. Fuck she saw it in 3D. But she hoped deep down, that there was an explanation. Anything, she would take anything.

“Cat.” He called her so softly, she held her breath for a second.

He’d explain. He’d apologize. They would get through this.

She assured herself.

But the little bit of guilt that was once all over his face was now washed and replaced with nothing but a dirty, wicked smile.

“What did you expect, Cat? You can’t keep my heir in your womb. I was patient enough.”

That was it, the broken heart shattered even more.

The whole place started looking blurry. A loud noise that she knew was nothing but her broken heart still beating was the only thing that kept her standing.

“Wha…” she couldn’t complete a sentence.

“Alice, is doing it.”

Alice was sitting on the office desk, legs crossed and a wicked smile on her face.

This same woman was who Cat would run to, whose arm she’d cry in about losing her baby. The same who’d tell her it was alright, that she’d pass this, that she wasn’t weak, that the Alpha would understand.

“Draven, what are you saying.” Tears streamed down her cheeks as she spoke.

“She is two months gone, Cat. Something you could never achieve.”

That was it. Her last revolve. She couldn’t stand this anymore. There was too much going on in just one night.

“Alice, how could you. You are my friend.”

Alice didn’t say a word. She just smiled while rubbing her stomach.

Cat opened her mouth, to say something. Anything. To attack them and call them monsters.

But then, she remembered what had made her come here in the first place.

“Draven.” She pulled the container out of her bag.

“My miscarriage isn’t normal. Someone has been using this evacuation pills on me.” She wasn’t a hundred percent sure, but it was the only explanation that made sense.

She shoved the medicine in his face. Not knowing what to expect.

“Draven, this means I can give you an heir. I am Luna. It’s my right.” She bit. She sounded like a pathetic desperate bitch. But that was all her brain could think of.

But Draven didn’t say a word.

Worse.

He didn’t look surprised. She had expected he would start questioning, asking who would have done this to her. But instead, he looked pale.

Odd.

Caught.

At that moment, she realized what a fool she was.

She started connecting the dots.

This pill. Her terrible relationship with Veronica made her believe she was behind it.

She blamed everyone she could in her head.

But she had ignored the fact that she had found this pill in his study! His study.

The same place he never allows her step foot in.

“You are crazy,” Draven huffed, dragging the container from her hands.

“Who would poison you. The Luna?”

He said it with so much confidence. But she could she the little tremble in his lips. And how his eyes wouldn’t meet hers.

“YOU.” She said.

“What? That’s ridiculous, Cat. Be for real.” Alice chirped in. She didn’t have that evil smirk anymore. She looked stiff, terrified in fact.

“And you were in on it?” Cat bit at her.

She could feel another gush of tears threatening to fall out. But she bit it back.

Enough crying for one night. She needed to face this head on.

“Well, Draven. Congratulations. I lost this one too this evening. Hope you are happy?” she said.

He looked at her. And she wished there was an explanation. She wished she was wrong and this was just a bitter nightmare. But it wasn’t. this was her reality.

The little fairytale in her head was all a lie. And this new reality, it was too much for her to stomach at once.

“I want a divorce. And I want this terrible mate bond severed. You can marry her.”

For the first time this night, she saw a bit of panic in his eyes.

“You know that’s not possible!”

“Oh, It is, Draven Vancouley. I want nothing to do with you.”

“I don’t think you know what you are saying Cat. You are forgetting this is the Vancouley pack! You cannot severe a bond with members of the Vancouley family.”

She knew. She knew there was no turning from this marriage or this mate bond. Breaking their mate bond would mean she’d lose her wolf and also get banished. Marrying into the Vancouley family meant a life long commitment. There was no escape.

“But Draven!” Alice jumped down from the table. “How then will we get married if you won’t break the bond?”

“Shut up, Woman!” Draven barked at her and she went quiet instantly.

Of course he wouldn’t divorce her. She should have known. Even if he didn’t love her, he’d keep her. She was the daughter of the Bamford family. She was a trophy to be kept, tortured, and used.

The thoughts in her head were getting unbearable. If she stayed there any longer, looking at their sick faces, she’d pass out. So she turned and stormed out, leaving them without a glance.

She opened her eyes to the worried eyes of her mother and sister. Not just them, kneeling a bit too close to her, was Draven. Her ex husband. Her ex mate. The man who hurt her, who killed her babies and cheated on her. But as he leaned closer, she could see softness in his eyes. The softness he used to have for her in the past. “Why did you do it? I told you not to do it.” His hands cupped her chin. “You should have listened to me.”She moved back a bit. She wanted to spit at him. To tell him she was sick of listening to him. To tell him he was a monster, and she hated that she loved him. That now, as he stared at her with his olive green eyes, she could only wish they could fix it and be together. She wished he wasn’t so terrible. “Cat,” Blair squeezed her hands. There was nothing but pain but in her eyes. “What are they going to do to you?” she cried. “I’ll be fine, Blair.” She said. “That’s enough!” Veronica waked down the stage to where they were. Flared nostrils and all.

She did not give them time to think. “SCRATCH THAT!” She said again, this time loud and slow. “I Cat Bamford, Eldest daughter of the second strongest wolf bloodline in Vancouley hills, daughter of the Beta, and the great grant daughter of the fighters for our pack’s freedom. I hereby denounce Draven Vancouley as my mate and I demand divorce.”“You fool!” she heard her father’s voice followed by her mother’s sobs. But she wasn’t done. She plunged out her claws, whispered a short sorry to herself, then split the skin where her mate mark sat on her neck, cutting the mark in half. At the same time, she chanted, “Let the mate bond be broken, let Draven and Cat be broken from each other forever. On the grounds on infidelity and betrayal.” Murmurs, screams, boos, curses everything filled the hall. It was so noisy, but she could clearly differentiate her mother’s cries and her father’s yells. The noise become the least of her problems when a sharp pain attacks her neck. Then her heart.

The night was cold and dark. As she stepped out of the building, she kept looking back, hoping, maybe Draven would follow her. She didn’t want to believe their marriage was nothing. She didn’t want to believe their mate bond meant nothing. She didn’t want to believe he didn’t love. She didn’t want to believe he would harm her. Ever. But that was reality. She booked a ride back to her parent’s house. The door opened on her third knock. “Luna,” the maid bowed then let her in. “Cat?” her mother’s voiced echoed through the halls when she saw her. She didn’t want this attention. Not tonight at least. But she had no where else to go. “What is this? What is going on here? What are you doing here?” Her father, The almighty George Bamford fired at her. “Cat, what’s wrong, were you crying?” Her mother said as she inched closer. “What happened?” she questioned further. “Don’t tell me you lost another child!” her father fired. She hadn’t told her family about the current pregnancy. An

Cat stared at the blood dripping down her ankles. Her sobs increased with every flow.“No, no,” her body shook, she pressed her palms to her mouth, just so she wouldn’t lose it completely. She didn’t want the maids to hear their Luna crying. But she couldn’t help it. Her baby was gone. Yet again. Gone. Her sixth miscarriage in just two years of marriage. What would happen now? Will Alpha Draven finally get sick of her and get rid of her? Will he be tired of her constant miscarriages and finally find another woman to bear his heir? She didn’t want that. She couldn’t imagine a life without his love and care. Without his warm arms wrapping around her, soothing her, telling her it’s alright like he always does. The more she thought of it, the more she cried. “Pull yourself together Cat.” She took deep breaths, then summoned the courage to pull her stained dress and wash off every bit of blood on her body. Every bit of her baby. Her precious baby. By the time she left the bathroom
