Alessandro’s POV

The Romano Corp headquarters towered over the city like a glass blade cutting into the sky. From the street below, people always looked at it with awe, snapping photos, whispering about power, money, and the Romano name. But as I pushed through the revolving doors that morning, all I felt was exhaustion.

I muttered under my breath as the secretary met me with that polite, too-bright smile.

“Mr. Romano, the files are on your desk, the ones I left yesterday. They need your signature before lunch.”

“Of course,” I replied flatly, tugging at my tie. My voice was sharp, clipped. I didn’t even mean it to be, but the weight on my chest from last night hadn’t lifted. If anything, it had grown heavier.

I headed up to my office. The glass walls glared at me. Sleek. Intimidating. Every surface polished to perfection, like it was made for a different man. A man who belonged here.

Not me.

Never me.

The moment I opened my office door, the cold air hit me. The room looked the same as

  • Straight Until Him   The Confession

Micah’s POVMy chest lit up, like someone had set a match to my ribs. Couldn’t take it back now; the words just slipped out.“Yeah… because I was on it too.”The silence that followed was sharp. Alessandro blinked, his lips parting like he had not heard right.“You were… what?” His voice was tight, clipped.“I was in it. From the start. The plan.”Alessandro let out a short, ugly laugh. “The plan? What plan?” His eyes narrowed. “Talk.”I coerced myself to face his eyes, despite the guilt gnawing out from my guys akin to a rodent in the confines. “Sandra. Yeah, this whole mess? Totally her plan. She told me to keep you busy, basically play watchdog so you wouldn’t notice her creeping around behind your back.”The air between us cracked. Alessandro’s face went white, then red. His hands curled into fists at his sides.“You?” he asked, voice rising. “Distract me? You?”I nodded, slow, shame heavy in my bones. “Yeah. I thought it would be simple. I thought it would mean nothing.”Alessand

  • Straight Until Him   The Knife Under the Smile

Alessandro’s POVMicah’s phone screen was blinding, honestly. Like, not just “oh, that’s bright”. I mean, it sliced through the dark and jabbed right into my eyes. Felt like the stupid thing was begging me to pay attention. Or taunting me, maybe.I did not want to. God, I did not want to.But I did.And I saw them.Sandra. Marcus. Their names at the top of the thread, side by side like some cruel headline. My eyes skimmed over the words, breaking them into fragments I wished I could unread.Sandra: He is pathetic. Does not even touch me.Marcus: Perfect cover. No one suspects a thing.Sandra: He is so easy to handle. Just nods and obeys.Marcus: Poor boy thinks he is winning.Sandra: I almost pity him. Almost. The phone shook in my hand. Or maybe it was me.My chest was pounding like I'd printed a mile, but I hadn’t even budged. Acid clawed up my throat, nasty stuff. And the sweat? It crept under my collar, icy and stabbing, like my own body was out to get me.They laughed. At me.At

  • Straight Until Him   The Truth I Never Wanted

Alessandro’s POVThe walls felt too close. My room was not a room anymore; it was a cage. I shoved the door open, wanting nothing but silence, nothing but space. My chest was tight, lungs stuttering like they’d forgotten how to breathe. But before the door even clicked shut, Micah’s hand caught mine. Firm. Unshakable.Micah.“Let go,” I hissed, yanking my hand back. It did not move. His grip tightened, warm skin against mine, steady in a way that made me shake harder.“Alessandro…”“No.” My voice cracked like glass. “Whatever you think we have, whatever this is… it ends now. I am done.”I could detect the detachment in my voice, the hardness I shoved into it, yet my body sold me out. My heartbeat was racing, craving for him to alternatively abandon me or draw me tighter. Both at once.I turned, eyes burning, ready to cut him off for good.Micah’s jaw tightened. His voice was low, raw, nothing like his usual smooth confidence.“Before you walk out of my life again, you should at least

  • Straight Until Him   Too Close to Hide

Alessandro’s POVThe house was quiet. Too quiet. The silence wasn’t the nice, meditative kind you get at three in the morning. My esophagus felt like abrasive. Sleep? Forget it. I hadn’t seen a decent night in ages. Each moment I shut my eyes, there was Sandra’s phony sneer, Marcus's signature etched completely sloppy across those absurd papers plus that bloody prenuptial agreement, mocking me in heavy inky dye.I unlatched the chiller, poured myself a little drink, and simply remained in that spot, collapsed upon the countertop.“Late night?”The voice behind me froze the glass in my hand.I didn’t even have to turn. I knew it was him.Micah.My chest tightened up, even worse this time.“Couldn’t sleep,” I muttered, without caring to glance at him. I took a gulp of water, wishing it might flush away the apprehension. He stepped closer. I could catch the sound in the movement of his soles against the floor. The aura altered when he appeared in the room. He carried a kind of heat, like

  • Straight Until Him   Shadowed Distance

Micah’s POVThe days just went by. They stretched out like gum stuck to your shoe. I swear, I started thinking the house was shrinking, walls creeping in.Sandra had basically moved into the Romano's mansion. Her perfume got everywhere; seriously, open a window and you’d probably still catch a whiff. And then there’s me, her brother, tagging along because “someone needs to look after Sandra.” Father tossed that line out with his usual fake-nice grin, and nobody bothered to object. So here I am.Something had shifted. Even the staff; usually all business and smooth moves; were on edge, tiptoeing around like they were scared to breathe too loud. Mrs. Romano barely said a word, but now it felt sharp, like one wrong move and she’d shatter. And Alessandro was basically a ghost.I barely caught more than a flicker of him here and there. Just enough to wonder if I was making him up. A shadow hovering at the end of the hall. Sometimes I spot him drifting across the courtyard, but poof, he’d

  • Straight Until Him   Trap Unfolding

Alessandro’s POVSunlight crashed through the window, lighting up my cufflinks like I’d accidentally signed up for a daytime rave. I winced at my own reflection, wrestled my tie into a technically legal shape, messed with my jacket sleeves for no actual reason, and gave my shoes a half-hearted swipe.Ugh, my chest was basically getting crushed by some invisible clamp, and my brain, it just would not chill.Sandra. Marcus. Those stupid files. What I dug up yesterday was still doing somersaults in my head. My jaw’s tight, I let out this shaky breath. Not happening. Whatever. Today I’d face her. I was done tiptoeing around. Time for the truth.I heard faint voices from the garden below. My mother’s soft hum and some other voices I couldn’t place.Wiped my hands on my jacket; yeah, whatever, then slid out into the hallway. Downstairs was a total madhouse. The noise just kept cranking up. Every step I took, the shouts and laughter chased me harder, practically nipping at my heels.Hit the
