Chapter 12

An hour later, Lexi was in her room with the door open. She had changed into a white nightgown. She started wondering if it was a good idea for her to change out of her clothes. What if she needed to run outside to save her life?

She stood in the middle of the room. She couldn’t believe her predicament. For the first time in her life, she had plenty of money to do what she wanted and now she was in a life-or-death situation.

“Why couldn’t this have happened while I was broke?” she mumbled.

“What?” Blake said as he approached the doorway. He was holding a black bible.

“Oh…nothing,” she said.

“I came to check on you,” Blake said.

“Where is everyone else?” Lexi asked.

He stepped into the room. “Troy and Victor are doing a perimeter check. Brock is downstairs with Lindsay. Barry and Nicole are playing cards in the receiving room.”

Lexi nodded
