[LUCIANA'S POINT OF VIEW]

It was already late, and still, sleep would not come. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to the silence of the penthouse. My heart kept whispering that he would be home soon. Every little sound made me sit up, waiting, hoping.

Then I heard it—the faint but steady sound of footsteps. My chest tightened with excitement. He's here.

I quickly slipped out of my room, my feet light against the floor. When I saw him, all the heaviness of the day seemed to disappear. "Lorenzo," I breathed, smiling without meaning to.

He looked at me, his expression unreadable. "I thought you were asleep already."

I shook my head, still smiling, still too happy just to see him. "I cannot sleep." My eyes searched his face, the shadows under his eyes, the weight in his shoulders. "How was work? Gino said you were so busy today."

"Yes." His reply was short, clipped. He did not even lift his eyes to me.

I nodded quickly, brushing it off, pretending it was fine. "You sound tir

The moment the door clicked shut behind Sophia, silence swallowed my office whole.I stood. My steps carried me in slow circles around the room, each stride heavy with the storm in my chest.I should be furious.I should hate her. After all these years, after the way she left—without a word, without looking back—I should want nothing to do with her.And yet.My hands curled into fists at my sides as I exhaled sharply.I wasn't mad. Not the way I expected to be.Instead, some traitorous part of me felt... relieved. Happy, even, just to see her again.I stopped near the window, the city skyline blurring beyond the glass. My reflection stared back at me—cold, unreadable, but I knew what lurked beneath. This was dangerous. Too dangerous.I couldn't afford distractions. Not from her. Not now.I had started something bigger than us—something I couldn't abandon halfway. My revenge wasn't complete. The people who destroyed me still walked free. And until that ended, I couldn't let anyone—espe

The classroom buzzed with chatter as groups rearranged themselves, desks scraping against the floor. I shifted in my seat, hyper-aware of how close Kieran sat beside me. Every time he moved, even just slightly, I felt it—the tension in the air, the strange pull I couldn't name.Zelira leaned forward, already writing down notes. "We should pick a theme that's not too complicated but still impressive. Any suggestions?"I opened my mouth, but Kieran spoke first. "History of supernatural folklore. It's broad enough, but we can narrow it down."I froze. He rarely spoke in class, and hearing his voice so suddenly... it did something to me. My pulse skipped, my mind went blank, and for a few seconds all I could do was stare at him. Why did his voice sound like that? Like it carried a weight that pulled me closer without me realizing?Zelira nodded, jotting it down without hesitation. "That works."I forced myself to glance at him. "That's... actually a good idea."His eyes flicked toward min

The classroom felt strangely quiet without a professor at the front. Most students had taken the chance to slip out, filling the halls with noise, but Mira and I stayed behind. After what happened earlier with Rhian, neither of us felt like wandering.Mira leaned close, her eyes wide, her voice dropping to an eager whisper. "Really? She said that? To Rhian?"I nodded, still shaking my head as if saying it aloud might make it more believable. "Yes. I can't believe it either."Mira let out a laugh that bounced off the empty desks. "That's insane! I honestly thought she'd end up being friends with Rhian. They give off the same vibe—you know, that 'I own the room' kind of energy. Always needing a scene."Her laughter made me laugh too, though I quickly defended her. "I don't think so. The first time I saw her, I thought she was... cool. And after today, I know it. She didn't have to step in, but she did."Mira smirked, her gaze darting toward the empty seat where Zelira usually sat. "Hmm.

Sophia leaned back against the sofa in my office, her legs stretched out across my lap like it was the most natural thing in the world. And maybe it was—after months of this, of us.I absentmindedly traced circles against her ankle while scrolling through emails on my tablet. She watched me with that amused smile of hers, the one that always made me feel like I was still twenty again, chasing her under the city lights."You're ignoring me again," she teased, her voice soft but playful.I set the tablet down with a sigh, meeting her eyes. "I am not. I'm multitasking."Sophia rolled her eyes and leaned forward, brushing her lips against mine in a slow, deliberate kiss. "That's better. You work too much, Lorenzo. I hate sharing you with this company."Her pout was familiar, almost comforting. I brushed a thumb over her cheekbone. "And yet, you still came back to me—knowing this is who I am."Her expression softened. "Because I love you. I always did. And I'm not leaving again."Those wor

[LUCIANA'S POINT OF VIEW]Days blurred into weeks, and before I realized it, I was already five months pregnant. Time flew so fast, as if the universe was rushing me closer and closer to that inevitable day. After that night at the convenience store with Lorenzo—his words, his actions—I thought something might change. But nothing really did. No more surprises, no more strange gestures. Just the same routine every day.I stayed home. He went to work. At night, he would come back, though lately... not always. Sometimes he didn't return until morning. Sometimes, not at all. But I didn't question it.I didn't have the right to.I just needed to go with the flow. Even though there were a hundred things I wanted to ask—where he went, why his eyes looked more tired than usual, why his voice sometimes felt distant—I chose to keep my mouth shut. I was afraid that if I pushed too hard, if I demanded more than what he was willing to give, I might lose what little we had. And that... I couldn't b
